HAPPY THURSDAY!
Today's scriptures are about God's temporary chastisement. We always reap what we sow, more than we sow. Like any parent, our Heavenly Father chastises us for our sins, and for a moment we may anger Him, but He will always love us no matter what. I know I write this a lot, but do you truly understand that God "waits to be gracious to us"? He wants us to communicate, and fellowship with Him. He has a set will for our lives, which is meant to bring us joy, peace and happiness. When we stray off of that path, He'll do whatever it takes to get us back on. God rewards us when we do something good, and punishes us when we do something bad. We aren't punished out of spite, but to learn lessons. Those punishments are always temporary, and then we're right back in His good graces. Even sooner when we confess what we've done, and ask for forgiveness. God knows what we need, even before we need it, but if He allowed us to do whatever we want, whenever we want, we would have neither self-control nor discipline.
He's slow to anger, and quick to forgive, so even in His anger He hears our cry and answer’s our call. It's written: "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" (Matt. 7: 9-11) I can recall times when we were children, when my mother had to chastise us. She rarely did, until she knew that what we were doing was going to be of harm or danger to us. The rules she put into place were meant for our protection, and not to cause grief in any type of way. Our chastisement usually came with a punishment of being confined to our room for a few days, or even a spanking. Afterward, she would always embrace us, and let us know the reason for our punishment, and the error of our ways. At times she was distraught because of our mischief, and would apologize for the harsh punishment (which is most cases wasn't harsh at all). That helped us understand that she loved us, and she was only trying to look out for our best interest. If our parents care enough to discipline us, to keep us from going down the wrong paths, then how much more does God love us? My mom never condemned us, or left us to die, but she cared enough to not only correct us when we were wrong, but also show us a better way.
In order to stay in God's good graces, we must put Him first. There are times when it feels like He's just not answering our prayers, or we go through trials, hurts, and pain, so in those times we must examine ourselves. Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart, and reveal the things that may be blocking your blessings. God is fair, so He will not punish us if it isn't warranted; especially if we're humble enough to go to Him, and admit we’ve made a mistake. We must do this with a contrite hurt, and ask Him to show us a better way. He'll reveal everything we need to know, and begin to fix our heart, to a point that we won't even want to do those things anymore. I can testify to that!
I think of King David, and all that he went through. He was hand chosen by God to be the ruler of all of Israel, and though he loved God with all of his heart He still fell short at times. David wrote several Psalms in his time of sorrow or pain. In the times that he felt like God had turned His back on him, but He always rejoiced in the fact that God will always be there for him. God made a covenant with David, it's written: I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. But My mercy shall not depart from him... (2 Sam. 7:14-15) I was reading Psalms 31 last night, which was written by David, and according to his words, oh did he receive some blows. However, at the end he remained encouraged in the covenant God made with him.
When God gave His only begotten Son to die for our sins, He made a covenant with each of us, just as He did David. Through that act, He's shown us that He will never leave nor forsake us, because of His undying love for us. When we step in His way, or sin against Him, we can expect some type of repercussion, but that repercussion will never be more than we could bear. It'll be a lesson taught out of kindness is truth. When it feels like you've lost that connection with God, don't worry, it happens to all of us, even King David. Just continue to pray, meditate, and study His word. Continue to cry out for Him, and repent, because He's never left your side, He just needs you to be right where you are.
If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, then there is no connection to God. Although He's in all places at all times, you won't "feel" Him, until He's put a call out on your life. When you feel that, I would encourage you to answer, because it's written: “For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matt. 22:14) If you've accepted Jesus as Lord, and don't feel a connection to God, then call out to Him, in the Name of Jesus, and He'll be right there. Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
Today's scriptures are about victory over death, through Jesus Christ. Death has to be one of the scariest subjects to discuss, because of our fear of the unknown. The one thing that is for certain is that we all are going to physically die one day. None of us are meant to live forever in the flesh, so the big question is, what will happen to you after you die? That's the beauty of a having a relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, because we know that our fate is sealed, and we'll go on to live in eternal bliss. When Jesus died, He took the penalty of sin with Him. He left sin on the cross, never to have reign over God's children again. Jesus gave us the peace in knowing that death no longer has a hold on us, and we're free to live without fear of the unknown. He said: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” (John 14:1-4) His disciple went on to ask him, "How do we know that way"? His answer was: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (vs. 6)
God gave us victory over death, through the sacrifice of His only begotten Son. Sin, which is going against the principles of God, causes death in our life. It separates us from God, who is the source of life. Death has many different definitions, but today we're focusing on Spiritual and physical death. It's written: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 6:23) Paul wasn't referring to physical death, but Spiritual death, and you will reap what you sow. Sin is so dangerous, but a non-entity to believers of Christ, because when we confess our belief in Jesus, we receive eternal life. Our names are written in the Lambs book of Life, and Jesus goes and prepares our mansion. The only way we can lose our Salvation is to stop believing in Jesus Christ. There are numerous people that say, if you sin, and don't repent, you will not go to Heaven. God is a gracious God, so that isn't true. Sin will cause things to die in our life, but it won't separate us from the Love of Christ.
It's written: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 8:35-39) This is a reason to rejoice! Hallelujah! I wholeheartedly agree with Paul on this. As long as we're saved we're saved. Once this life is over, here on earth, we will go on to meet the Lord. We'll stand judgment, and receive a crown. In that crown will be jewels, and the amount of jewels we receive, will determine our place in His Kingdom. Therefore rest easy in knowing that you are more than a conquer through Christ.
You are an Heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Heaven, and no one could take that away from you. Never be afraid of what this life will bring, because God is in control. When you're following His will, He'll make sure you have His best. Only He knows when your time is up, because He's the Author and finisher of your fate. Just know that everything will happen in perfect timing, so don't spend your life worrying about death. However, enjoy life, and rejoice in your life forever more. Live as though each day is your last, love hard, and have no regrets. If you have sinned repent, because He wants that close bond with you, so He's waiting to forgive you, as soon as you ask. Sin no longer have a hold on you, and doesn't dictate your future, unless you allow it to run your life. Jesus has overcome the world, and every good thing has been offered to you. This is a promise made by the "Prince of Peace”, “King of Kings”, and “Lord or Lords”. If God is for you, who can be against you?
On the other hand, if you aren't a believer of Christ, then death is something that you should be very afraid of. You will be condemned for your sins, and will experience an eternity of pain, anguish, and evil. I don't make the rules I just report them. You don't have time to waste, because death is inevitable, yet unpredictable. You don't have to be a certain type of person, or live a certain type of lifestyle to accept Christ as Lord and Savior, all you have to do is believe that He is the Son of God, who lived, died, was resurrected, and now sits at the right hand of God in Heaven. Once you invite Him into your life, your mansion will be prepared for you. It's just that simple, and I don't know about you, but I'll chose Jesus any day, considering the alternative. My favorite verse today is: He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD shall wipe away the tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it. (Isaiah 25:8)

daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY TUESDAY!
Today's scriptures are about living in the midst of evil. Yesterday I started to write about the nature of the flesh, which is very pertinent to today's message. The “flesh”, which was created from the dust that comes from the earth, is the body’s natural form. Adam and Eve are responsible for mankind’s free will, and the knowledge of “good and evil”. Consequently, we're born into a sinful nature, and our flesh wants whatever it wants, when it wants it. In the flesh we are of a carnal mind, so we often give in to our every want and desire, without hindsight.
As we know, everything we do has a consequence, good or bad, so living by the flesh has proven to be very dangerous, to say the least. It's written: As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. (Eph 2:1-3) Wow! Paul describes us as "objects [or children] of wrath" when operating in the flesh. Wrath is a really strong word, but now that I think about it, before I surrendered my life to Christ, I can remember the wrath that was caused by me, or was brought to my life. It came because of the poor decisions I made in the flesh. I am proud to say that Jesus Christ is the best thing that has ever happened to me!
When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we're anointed with the Holy Spirit. Our spirit is being transformed, and we begin to take on the heart and mind of Christ. We begin to thirst for the Lord, and to quench that thirst we must learn who He is, and pray for the strength and wisdom to overcome the world, and the things of it. At the same time, we have to live on this earth, and mix and mingle with unbelievers, and the flesh heavily influences us. The enemy glamorizes everything, to make it seem more than it really is. As we grow in our spirit, we'll begin to realize just how empty the ways of the world are, because God will reveal the truth. It's written: Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. (Romans 8:5-8)
You may be asking, "How can I live above the world, but still be very much in it?" The answer lies in one word, "surrender". When we come to a realization that we cannot do anything without Christ, we'll begin to surrender to His will. Surrendering means to live on purpose, and with a purpose, as well as looking to Christ for guidance. Our main goal is fellowship with God, so we must do just that. We must spend quality time with Him, by studying His word, praying without ceasing, and meditating. Those things seem so simple, but because we're in constant battle with our flesh, it's harder than you may think. The enemy will throw so many things in our way to keep us separated from God. It's up to us to recognize what’s of the Spirit and what's of the flesh, and quickly avoid or lay down the things not of the Spirit. You must understand that it's not all about you, just as Jesus did right before the time of His crucifixion, when He told God "not My will, but Yours, be done". (Luke 22:42)
When we're continuously focused on God, we don't have time to focus on the world. Constantly thinking about how we can please Him, will give us an inner peace, which surpasses all human understanding. He'll give us the strength to move a mountain, but keeps us meek and compassionate. I speak from personal experience, almost like the Apostle Paul. I've been extremely low in my life, and I've watched the wonder that is Christ flourish in my heart, mind, body, and Spirit. I still struggle in my flesh daily, but the struggle isn’t my main concern. I've experienced rewards for right choices, and punishments for wrong, so I'll choose God over anything else. I surrender each day, praying and asking Him to show me His way, and give me the wisdom to complete His will, and that He does. I sometimes fall short, because I'm a human being, but I try my best, and I love God with all of my heart, that's all He asks for.
If you haven't accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, you're still in the flesh. You must confess to God the fact that you're a sinner, and ask Jesus to be Lord of your life. God will forgive you of your sins, and fill you with His Holy Spirit, and you will forever be changed, once you surrender. Jesus prayed, ” Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil", so ask God to help you over come the world, and surrender to His Spirit. Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY THURSDAY!
Today's scriptures are about renewing your mind in Christ. What does being a Christian mean to you? After you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and are baptized, what comes next? Most of us are on fire for the Lord initially. We join a church, and volunteer for every committee, show up for every picnic or church function, and even join the choir. Eventually that fire dies down, if you aren't building a relationship with God. For those of you who are faithful churchgoers, you see it all the time. The new members are constantly in your face, and then you eventually start seeing them less and less, until you don't see them anymore. Being a Christian goes way beyond confessing your love for Christ, it's a lifestyle. You have to walk in love, and the only way to do that is to immerse yourself into the Word of God.
Ultimately, we're on a personal journey, and we're responsible for our individual growth. Growth doesn't come with just going to church on Sunday morning, but you have to change your mindset. You have to want to be righteous, and everything that you do have to reflect that. There's a reason we call, becoming a Christian, being "Born Again", because your old self dies, and you become a new person in Christ. You're resurrected from death, and given life eternally, and it's very important for you to know that. It's written: If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Col. 3:1-3) It's rather awkward to begin this awesome transformation, and have no idea who or what you're being transformed into, because you haven't taken the time to learn who Jesus really is. This is what causes the struggle in our flesh, and why people end up losing their fire, because they have no idea of which way to turn, or what to do next.
I wonder how many people spend years of their Christian life miserable, and lost, not knowing what to do next, as I did. Before I rededicated my life to God, all I knew about Him was what I was taught as a child. The things my parents instilled in me, by taking me to church, and bible study. My dad used to send us bible study worksheets in the mail, and have us send them back to him. He and mom also had us memorize Psalms, or certain bible verses, and quote them. My Aunt would come over and have bible study sessions with my sister, our girlfriends, and me, weekly, to teach us how to read and understand the bible. I had all these roots, but was still lost. These things play a vital role in who I am today. However, I wasn't able to use them, until I made a commitment to strengthen my personal relationship with God.
I can remember being the person on fire for God, and then that fire would die out as quickly as it started. I remember turning to a liquor bottle, or another person, in times of hardship, which in most cases made things worst. I think Jesus' Parable of the Sower , best describes the different levels of Christians. I used be the one who fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. (Luke 8:6) Jesus goes on to explain: the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. (Luke 8:13) I think we all have, or will, experience all of these seeds that Jesus explains, but we must consciously strive to be the ones that fell on the good ground who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. (Luke 8:15) I can honestly say that this is where my heart is, and will be forever more in Christ. This is possible because He reveals Himself to me more and more each day, and I remain open to receive Him. The key to bearing good fruits is to understand that you cannot bear that fruit alone. We're designed with a dependency on the Lord, because we're created for His purpose.
Putting on a "new man", or renewing your mind in Christ, isn't as hard as it may sound. It isn't written anywhere in the bible that you have to change your wicked and sinful ways, before you receive salvation, because that isn't possible. The order is this, recognize that you’re a sinner, humble yourself before the Lord, and confess your sins. Ask Him to come into your heart as Lord and Savior, and accept Him. From there, your new life begins. Get to know your Heavenly Father. Seek His face, ask Him questions, pray for strength and wisdom, and make an effort to follow His Will. If you're tempted or weak, pray and ask for Strength. If you're sad or lonely, pray and ask for companionship, and spend some quiet time with Him. Most importantly STUDY HIS WORD! Thank Him and give Him praise for your blessings, and you'll find that you've changed into this righteous person right before your own eyes. You didn’t even notice, but everyone around you did, because they see His light in you. Today is the first day of the rest of your life, don't worry about what happened yesterday, but keep looking ahead to a better tomorrow. My favorite verses today are: I beseech you, ... brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:1-2)

Today's scriptures are about renewing your mind in Christ. What does being a Christian mean to you? After you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and are baptized, what comes next? Most of us are on fire for the Lord initially. We join a church, and volunteer for every committee, show up for every picnic or church function, and even join the choir. Eventually that fire dies down, if you aren't building a relationship with God. For those of you who are faithful churchgoers, you see it all the time. The new members are constantly in your face, and then you eventually start seeing them less and less, until you don't see them anymore. Being a Christian goes way beyond confessing your love for Christ, it's a lifestyle. You have to walk in love, and the only way to do that is to immerse yourself into the Word of God.
Ultimately, we're on a personal journey, and we're responsible for our individual growth. Growth doesn't come with just going to church on Sunday morning, but you have to change your mindset. You have to want to be righteous, and everything that you do have to reflect that. There's a reason we call, becoming a Christian, being "Born Again", because your old self dies, and you become a new person in Christ. You're resurrected from death, and given life eternally, and it's very important for you to know that. It's written: If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Col. 3:1-3) It's rather awkward to begin this awesome transformation, and have no idea who or what you're being transformed into, because you haven't taken the time to learn who Jesus really is. This is what causes the struggle in our flesh, and why people end up losing their fire, because they have no idea of which way to turn, or what to do next.
I wonder how many people spend years of their Christian life miserable, and lost, not knowing what to do next, as I did. Before I rededicated my life to God, all I knew about Him was what I was taught as a child. The things my parents instilled in me, by taking me to church, and bible study. My dad used to send us bible study worksheets in the mail, and have us send them back to him. He and mom also had us memorize Psalms, or certain bible verses, and quote them. My Aunt would come over and have bible study sessions with my sister, our girlfriends, and me, weekly, to teach us how to read and understand the bible. I had all these roots, but was still lost. These things play a vital role in who I am today. However, I wasn't able to use them, until I made a commitment to strengthen my personal relationship with God.
I can remember being the person on fire for God, and then that fire would die out as quickly as it started. I remember turning to a liquor bottle, or another person, in times of hardship, which in most cases made things worst. Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
Today's scriptures are about the finality of Jesus' sacrifice. Jesus has paid our sin debt in full. When He died on that cross, the blood that was shed wiped away the sins of all who believe in Him, forever. We no longer have to worry about carrying the burden of death, because Jesus has given us life forevermore! We won't receive an invoice for it later, nor will we lose this privilege at any point in time. When He bowed His head and said, "it's finished", that it was.
Never having to worry about sin again is a refreshing thought. There is nothing more wonderful than to be able to live without looking over your shoulder, in fear of being condemned. No longer fearing of the ways of the world, nor the plots of the wicked. Most importantly, being given relief from worrying about what's going to happen when we die, because we know that our home is already prepared and waiting. Well guess what? All of these are a reality, because of the one selfless act of Jesus Christ!
Jesus’ death made it possible for us not to live in, and for sin, but above sin and for Him. It's written: There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:1) When we think about His grace and mercy, it should motivate us to do right by Him. It's a grave mistake to take this fact and use it as an excuse to live however you want. I've heard more people say, "It's okay if I do this, I'll just repent later", or "God knows my heart, and already knew I was going to do that, so He’ll forgive me". There are many more of those that I could share with you, but you get my point. If this is the way you’ve been living, I urge you to be careful, because Jesus didn’t eliminate the “reaping what you sow” law, but He still requires us to “walk according to the Spirit”.
Jesus offered us freedom and peace from the everyday struggle that is sin. The enemy enslaved us from the time he tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden. After that, people had to go the all types of rigmarole to receive forgiveness for their sin. Do you understand how blessed you are to be able to say that you're Righteous, let alone a Disciple of Christ? It's written: Then Jesus said... “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?” Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." (John 8:31-36) If we were solely "servants" (or slaves) of God, we would only have temporary residence in His Kingdom. Thanks to Jesus' we're adopted children of God, so we're a part of His Kingdom forever, no matter what. This a promise made to all who chooses to believe in Him.
It's done! If you're a believer, never worry about your place in God's kingdom ever again. Never fret over sin, because He's conquered it. Stand on His promises, and surrender to Him. Focus on loving Him, and showing His love to everyone you come in contact with. Learn about Him, and ask for wisdom to be able to walk righteously, following His ways, and His ways alone. When you do sin, confess and repent. He's paid at great price to afford you that privilege, so be sure to use it. I can guarantee you that when you think of all He's done for you, you'll let go of your old sinful ways. Jesus died so that we would understand the depth of His love for us.
God is so good, that He's given us a lifetime to get it right. He sacrificed His own Son, so that we could see forever with Him. He will never utterly cast us down, and is still waiting to be gracious to us. That will never change, so if you were thinking that it's to late for you, this message is offered to give you relief. As long as you have breath in your body, you have a chance to grow closer to Christ. That offer has always, and will always stand. If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, take a few moments and pray and ask Him to come into your heart. He'll be right there as soon as you call. If you're saved but lost, remember He's working with you for the rest of your life, so there's no need to be shy, pray and tell Him exactly what's on your heart and repent. There's no price for this, He's already picked up the tab. My favorite verse today is: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. (Colossians 2:14)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY TUESDAY!
I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this "terrific Tuesday". I'm doing well after a long day of work. I haven't worked this hard in a very long time. I'm so ready to take a nap right here, right now, but duty calls. It's such a privilege being able to serve the Lord in any type of way, but writing is one of my favorite pastimes. It's therapeutic for me, because I communicate better in writing. I find that I'm able to process my thoughts better while writing, and I'm grateful for this gift from God. It's only right that I use it to serve the Lord. There's a song by J. Moss called "We Must Praise". In this song, brother Moss points out the importance of using every gift and talent you have to Praise God. We each have something unique to add to His Kingdom, it's just up to us to dig deep, and seek the answers from God. If you haven't already, pray and ask Him what you can do for Him, instead of always asking Him to do something for you. Enjoy the remainder of your day, and be blessed family!
Today's scriptures are about God's mercy for those who fear Him. I think this may be one of the most misconstrued subjects in Christianity. I don't know how many times I've heard someone say, "I don't want to serve a God I have to fear, isn't He supposed to be loving, caring, and forgiving, etc." It's amazing how the enemy twists things around, to make them work for him. Having fear for God is one of the best things that could happen to us. It teaches us discipline, and respect for authority, as well as a fear of disappointing or disrespecting Him. We're to be so afraid of His wrath that we'll try out best not to sin against Him. That same fear will promote reverence, a deeper love for Him, and a greater appreciation of grace and mercy. If we fear Him for these reasons alone, He’s quick to have mercy on us, because at the same time, we’re showing our love for Him.
I always compare the fear of the Lord to the fear of our Parents. Growing up, our parents were our “everything”, our provider, protector, and the people responsible for loving, teaching, and guiding us in the way we should go. We refer to God as being our Heavenly “Father” because of the way He designed the chain of life. We're given a permanent bond with our parents that never fade, no matter how old or independent we become. The cycle of our Spiritual life works the same way. Once we’re born again in Christ, we’re to look to God as our parent. He’s now responsible for our growth, and will provide and protect us. We’re to fear Him grater than we fear our earthly parents, because in doing so, we’ll receive grater rewards.
It's written: And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good? (Deuteronomy 10:12-13) What do you think God will gain if you're afraid of Him? He created us for fellowship. All He's been asking for, since He created Adam, was love. He created the Heaven and earth, the plants and animals, but none of those things are designed to communicate with Him as well as we are. He created us to be His companions, to love and commune with, all the days of our life. He doesn't want us to fear Him to a point where we stop communicating with Him, or try and hide from Him to cover our sin. Remember when Adam and Eve first discovered that they were naked, they hid themselves from God? The first thing He said, when He came to fellowship with them in the Garden, and couldn’t find them was "where are you?" He wanted to know why they hid themselves from Him. God wants us to fear Him to a point that we love and respect Him, but He doesn't want us to be so afraid that He has to continuously call out to us, "Where are you?"
He gave Himself as a sacrifice to bring us closer to Him. Jesus taught love, togetherness, repentance, restoration, and righteousness in God, but He also warned us to keep that parent/child fear for God. Jesus didn’t dwell on fearing God in His teachings; rather He focused more on teaching the love of God. Jesus said: “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!" (Luke 12:4-5) Jesus came to create a new covenant, but He also wanted us to understand that we must believe in Him, or God will condemn us. However, if we accept Jesus as Lord, God will bless us in so many ways. God will indeed give us beauty for ashes, and overlook our transgressions when we ask. He’s have great mercy on our souls, because we’ve been washed and renewed by the Lamb of God. He loves us, and we're His pride and joy, so He wants us to have the best out of life. However it’s written: “…but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.” (Matt. 6:23)
It’s just this simple, we're rewarded when we're right and punished when we're wrong. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be punished, so out of respect for Him, I'm going to do my best to do what's right. He loves us much more than we could ever understand, so we must focus on that love, but understand the power of His wrath. He'll do whatever it takes to help you complete His will for your life, so you could do it the easy way or the hard way, which will it be?
I urge you to take a few minutes and to take Dr. Stanley's God Quiz today, I'm sure you'll find some great insight into your Salvation, or lack thereof. If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, then be very afraid, but if you do, understand that the fear that He wants us to have, is meant to keep us closer to Him, and obedient, for our own good. My favorite verses today are: The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. (Psalms 145:18-19)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY MONDAY!
Today's scriptures are about Christ, our Passover. The blood of Christ protects us from the evils of the world. When God’s wrath is upon the earth, we will be passed over, when we're under the protection of the mighty Lamb of God. The first Passover started with Moses, when he was attempting to get Pharaoh to free the people of Israel, from the bondage in Egypt. God was going to cast a plague upon the land that would kill all of the firstborn. He instructed Moses and the Israelites to take a blemish free Lamb, and sacrifice it. It's written: Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. (Exo. 12:7) They then were to cook the Lamb over an open fire, and eat it that night with bread cooked without yeast. When God came through with the plague, He vowed the Passover all of the homes that were marked with blood. This was the beginning of an everlasting ordinance, to mark the day that God freed the Israelites from the enemy.
Does this all sound a bit familiar? As I was reading through this story, I started to think about the things that Jesus said at the Last Supper. It was as similar scenario, but Jesus came to free all mankind from the hands of the enemy. We've been enslaved by evil since the beginning of time, and Jesus was the Sacrificial Lamb, brought here to protect us, when God allows evil to completely plague the earth. Jesus’ blood not only cleanses us from unrighteousness, and grants us eternal life, but it also offers protection under the covenant of God. That's a reason to rejoice!
It's written: And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And He said to them, “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many. (Mark 14:22-24) Most Christians practice this ceremony as often as every Sunday, and some once a month. No matter how often you do it, just as God commanded the people of Egypt, you do it as a symbol of God's everlasting love and protection. He shed innocent blood to atone for the sins of the wicked, because He loves us. Be careful to know the commitment you make, and do it with a pure heart. Paul warns us to be true the covenant of Holy Communion.
Now I'm sure many may question, if every Christian is covered under this covenant, why do so many bad things happen to “good people”? There are many explanations, and some we won’t receive until we reach Heaven. Using the old example of the Passover, we have to stay under the protection of those two doorways, which are marked with the blood. Had the people of Israel stepped outside on the day of the Passover, when the plague was coming through, they would’ve fallen victim to it as well. God gave them specific boundaries, and it was up to them to stay within them.
The Apostle Paul explained it best in his letter to the Church of Corinth, that he had written when word got back to him that they had been sinning, and bragging about it. Paul said: Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough? Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth. (1 Cor. 5:6-8NIV) A little sin could spread into a huge mess, in the life of a Christian, so if you step outside of the covenant of God, into a life of Sin, that blood no longer protects you from it’s effects. It isn't until you repent, and ask for forgiveness that you can come back under total protection of the Lord.
As I look around at the state of our world today, it saddens my heart. I see so many things in a different light. Sin is "the norm" right now, and people actually brag and boast, and even commercialize it for the world to see. With no regard of Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave His life to protect us from just that. Sin is a plague, and what could end up killing us, so we must be careful, and ready at all times. If you've already accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, you're halfway there. You must still serve the Lord, and keep His commandments. It isn't that hard to love God with all of your heart, but it most certainly could be if you aren't keeping your eye on Him at all times, preparing for His return.
If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, then you are like the Egyptians; you have no protection from the plague of sin. The Lamb has been sacrificed, so in order to receive that much needed protection, all you have to do is ask Jesus to be your Savior. He's a simple prayer away; so let me know if you need someone to pray with. My favorite verse today is: Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. (1 Peter 4:1-2)
