HAPPY TUESDAY!
Today's scriptures are about consciously living in righteousness. We learned yesterday about the prevalence of evil in the world, and the works of the enemy, which is why we must consciously live in Christ. Death and Jesus’ return are both certain, but we can't be sure which will come first, so we much be aware of our righteousness, at all times. Righteousness is a free gift, offered by God, through Jesus Christ. It's written: [Christ]...who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. (1 Peter 2:24-25) When you think of being righteous, what comes to mind? One of the things we learn from the Word is that Jesus was, and will forever be the only "perfect" man. He did everything according to the Word of God, because He was God in the flesh. We're not expected to be Jesus, but we are expected to try our best to imitate Him. Most importantly, we're not expected to take on this tough job alone. Quite frankly, it's much easier to sin, then it is to do right, and Jesus admits to that Himself. He said: “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." (Matt. 7:13-14) Jesus was tempted by the devil, just as we are on a daily basis, so He knows how hard it is to enter into the “narrow gate”, yet God still expects us to be righteous, because Jesus didn't leaves us alone. Not only is He our intercessor, but we also have the His Holy Spirit to help us through everyday life. I don't think we use our Holy Spirit as much as we should. He's a very important a part of the Trinity of God, and gives us the power to overcome temptation, avoid evil or harmful situations, heal ourselves and others through Christ, as well as effectively communicate with God. He's the Advocate of righteousness, and will make sure that we're achieving it, when we consult Him in everything we do. In watching Reality TV, I’ve noticed that the new trend for the celebrities is hiring a "Life Coach". This is a person who helps you live your life to your fullest potential. They come to your home and help you change your bad eating, sleeping, and overall living habits. They also come to your job and/or business and help you work efficiently. They're basically hired by people, who may be struggling to move forward in their life, to help give them a push. I think that's a wonderful concept, to those who could afford to do something like that, but that's nothing new. We've had a Spiritual life coach inside of us all along. That's all the Holy Spirit is, and when we ask Him for help, He's right there to give us the answers. All we have to do is consult Him, and He'll show us the way. The only way to live righteously is to live on purpose. Live like a child of God, because if you've accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, that's who you are. You are the son or daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, so you must live like royalty, because you’ve received you inheritance through Christ. He's blessed you with the gifts to be able to be righteous, and that's what He expects from you. We don't expect to see the daughter of the King of England, homeless on the streets, because she is royalty, and her parents have afforded her the assets to live like royalty, all the days of her life. Well our Father, the King of Kings, has done the same thing for us. We never have to want for anything, as long as we're following His will. He's laid out certain rules that we must follow, and they aren't as hard as we once thought, because we can always ask Him for help. We must put on the Fruits of the Spirit each day, starting as soon as we get out of bed. We must make a conscious effort to avoid sin, so if you know your weakness is alcohol, stay out of the bar. If you know you gossip too much, surround yourself with people who don't. It's all about making conscious life choices, and sticking to them, in hopes of making your Heavenly Father proud. That's all righteousness is. Do it for Him, because He's already done so much for you. If you live a life with thanksgiving and meekness in your heart, righteousness is sure to follow. Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY MONDAY!
Today's scriptures are about overcoming the evil powers of the world. There's victory through the blood of the Lamb! Hallelujah! Some of you may be asking yourself, "victory over what?", and that's okay. I’ll tell you just as it’s written, in Christ we have overcome the world! That's a reason to shout, rejoice, and give Him praises! Nevertheless, as long as we're in the flesh, we're going to go through this Spiritual warfare. The enemy is working overtime, to persuade us to sin against God, and live wicked and evil lives. If we're not aware of the power we hold, through the blood of Christ, we'll spend a long miserable life fighting against good and evil. The enemy has turned things that were meant for good into evil, and has a way of twisting everything, so believers, especially the young in their Faith, are lead astray. He works even harder on more mature Christians, so never get to a point where you think you have it figured out, because the enemy is always one step ahead. That's why it's important to keep Jesus close at all times, by constantly praying, and studying His Word, because it holds all of the answers to a peaceful life. In my opinion, peace is the most valuable blessing we could have, but sin is the exact opposite of peace. Right before Jesus' death, He told His disciples: Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27) You notice how He said "not as the world gives"? There are so many things the enemy offers that will seemingly give you peace, however his type of peace is always temporary, and usually include very negative side effects. I believe one of the most effective weapons the enemy uses, to keep us in bondage, is false peace. He gives us these great mirages of peace, but once we get all wrapped into this facade, we end up being hurt, and let down. These things come in the forms of drugs, alcohol, sex, infatuation, relationships, gluttony, etc. How many times have you been depressed or stressed and said, "I need a drink!", or "I want to go out and party!"? At the time, you're having a ball, dancing, talking, and feeling free! You become a person you didn't know you could be. It seems harmless, but that's how the enemy works. There are always repercussions like sickness, disease, drunk driving, and so many other things, which all could very well end up in death. Some people turn to infatuation, fornication, or adultery to mask their pain, in hopes of finding peace. However, we know all of the repercussions that come with those. Let's not forget the tool that the enemy uses the most, to pit people against each other, and that's the "Almighty Dollar", money, wealth, and prestige, makes people do strange things. There are people who will kill their own mother for it, but the bible does say “the love of money is the root of all evil”. Money gives us a false sense of hope and peace, but it could never fulfill us like the love of Jesus Christ. The enemy is strong, but Jesus is stronger and mightier than anything we could face on this earth. Just seek His strength, and He'll allow us to overcome all that keeps us in bondage. There's freedom in the Blood, but we have to seek out that freedom, and walk with Him all the days of our life. He'll fill us with so much peace, joy, and happiness that we won't ever want to leave His side. I could attest to the roadblocks we'll face when we're walking with God. As we grow, the attacks by the enemy become more frequent and sever, however, our strength and Faith gets even stronger, because God keeps showing up, and showing out. The one thing that we have to realize is that we're not strong enough to defeat the devil alone. You can see that just by looking around you. The enemy uses fear, addiction, fornication, greed, money, and anything else that could be used to tear you down, but you serve the Most High God! Paul taught us: Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-40) Know that Jesus died to give you freedom from all of this mess. When people see you, they should see this light about you, no matter what you're going through. This is made possible by the Christ in you. It’s written: Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) I’m urging you please don't make it easy for him, because he preys on your weaknesses. The enemy is always lurking in dark places, however when you carry Jesus’ light within you, He’ll always brighten the dark spots of life. All you have to do is trust Him. If you don't know Him as Lord and Savior, then the devil has free reign over your life, and that can't be peaceful for you. No matter how much you try and seek out it, you'll never find it, because it could only be found in Christ Jesus. So say that prayer today, and if you need me to pray with you, please let me know, I'd be happy too. My favorite verse today is: We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY FRIDAY!
It's Mother's day weekend, a time to give thanks to all mothers. Although I'm not officially a mother, I know the plight of moms everywhere. Motherhood is a privilege, given by God, to protect, nurture, guide, and give total care to His children. That deserves to be celebrated! Cherish your mom, or the person who played that role in your life, and thank them, and thank God for them. Some of us are fortunate enough to have several mother figures, but most of us only get one, so cherish her, and tell her you love her this weekend. I'd like to wish each mother (or mother figure), a happy Mother's Day! Enjoy your weekend, and be blessed family.
Today's scriptures are about trusting in the Lord in times of calamity. The world has experienced some vast catastrophes, and I’ve witnessed a few in my adult life. We've had the 9-11 terrorist attack, gulf wars, middle eastern wars, Hurricane Katrina, Tsunamis, devastating earth quakes in Haiti, South America, China, just to name a few, and it seems like it just keeps getting worst. However, when men and women of God come forth, to assure other believers that God allowed these things, because of punishment of sin, there's this great uproar. Let's make sure that we're clear on this, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever more, so everything that's happening now, is no different from the numerous stories found in the Old Testament of the bible. There were great prophets including Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, and Samuel, just to name a few, who gave active accounts of great wars and calamity due to disobedience and spiritual warfare. In my opinion, the entire world, especially our culture, is in a terrible spiritual state. The religions are split greater than ever before, and there are hundreds of false prophets. People are defiling themselves and children. The lands are polluted, and resources are vastly depleting. We've turned into a technology driven world, and things are moving so fast, that we forget to slow down and spend time with God. The enemy is running rampant, which shows in everything around us. In American culture, you turn on the television and see people, who were once role models, blatantly defiling themselves, through explicit songs, movies, and television programs. Marriages are falling apart at the seams, and drugs, alcohol, adultery and fornication is not only glorified, but also promoted. Looking at all of these things, why do you think the earth is deteriorating right under our feet? Jesus said: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many. But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:5-8) God is a God of righteousness, love, peace, and salvation; however, He's still a God to fear, if we continuously disobey His commandments. Eventually, He'll say enough is enough. All of these "natural disasters" have reasons behind them, but our main concern is not to try and figure out why, and try to avoid the next one, but it's time to get our relationship right with Christ. We cannot walk this earth, day by day, in fear, because that's not what God intended for us. If you know that you've accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and believe with all your heart that you are saved, then you have nothing else to worry about. The world could be crumbling around you, and all you have to do is pray for deliverance, and God will see you through (Psalms 91 is a great resource to help strengthen you in times of fear). I'm going to leave you with the warning from Jesus, it's written: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!' " (Mark 13:32-37 NIV) Wow, Jesus ended with such a powerful word, "watch!” I love that. What will be will be, and you're in charge of your own destiny. God has destroyed this entire earth before, but He vowed not to do it again. However, this time, it's us who are destroying it, little by little, piece by piece. God gave us warning signs, so that we could be free of worry or sin, and endure the brunt of the storms. Most importantly, so that we could inherit our "promised land", when it's all over. Don't stop living your life because of fear, but start living your life for Christ. Just as we heard from the story of Jonah the other day, sometimes it only takes one person to warn others about the destruction ahead, so that they could be redeemed. Don't forget, be ready, or you will be destroyed with all of the others. I don't say that as a threat, but as warning to those of you who are "teetering" with your faith, and are "still deciding" what you want to believe. Take a look around you, and notice, that you don't have as much time as you think you do. Take a few moments and take the God Quiz today. My favorite verse today is: He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting the Lord. (Psalms 112:7)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY THURSDAY!
Today's scriptures are about God's mercy, which brings righteousness and truth. Have you ever heard the saying "the truth will set you free"? What do you think that means? It's always been said that one lie leads to another, and the next lie has to be bigger, to cover the last lie, and it always spirals out of control. When you're trapped in a lie, it becomes a great burden, so it's just easier to tell the truth, and deal with the consequences. That's the same principle when it comes to sin. One sin leads to the next, and it becomes a trap that you cannot get out of, and then a burden that weighs heavy on your heart, especially in the life of the believer. Eventually you'll be a slave to the flesh, and will do whatever it takes to make it happy, to escape the eternal pain it brings. I know this feeling first hand, because I've been there. I used to live a life of an unsaved person, because I was in pain. I surrounded myself with sinners, and was heavily influenced by the "world", yet on the inside I never wanted to live that type of life. My soul was in so much turmoil, that I got caught up in that web of trying to break the cycle of using one sin to cover up the next. I was saved at a very young age, and baptized on my 15th birthday, so I had the Holy Spirit in my heart. He always made His presence known, but I chose to ignore Him. It wasn't until I found out the truth about God that I began to allow Him to turn my life around. When I realized how gracious and merciful my God is, I wanted nothing more than to please Him, and do right by Him. There's always redemption in Christ, and it doesn't matter how long you've been a sinner, or what type of sin you've committed, there's forgiveness, due to His mercy, and ability to create righteousness within you. The blood of Jesus cleanses you from all unrighteousness, so count it all joy! All God needs from you is your confession, which is the whole truth of your sin, and then ask for forgiveness. Once you do that, and repent, He'll know that you're ready to move forward, and will often times deliver you from the burden of that sin, so you won’t have to battle with it. He knows your heart, and knows full well if you're truthful about that repentance, and because of His mercy He'll always forgive and forget. God is a God of peace and love, and will do whatever it takes to keep you there. He knows that we'll be much better stewards when we have that peace in our heart, so He'll instill it within us, but it's ultimately up to us to choose Him. If there's one thing I hope will come out of me sharing my testimony with you, is that it will help you avoid half of the heartache and pain I endured. Had I only known how much God loves me, I could've made different and better choices, and maybe I would've come out of my wilderness a little sooner. However, I know God used all of my trials as stepping-stones to victory. Once I knew and accepted the truth, it did indeed set me free. That's the wonderful thing about Jesus, and studying His life and His teachings, because He explains things so richly, yet keeps it simple to understand. He gives you this, "it is what it is", type of truth. He's not only told us how to live by truth and righteousness, but He showed us, in everything He did. So even if you don’t understand some of His parables, pay attention to His demeanor and conduct. Nothing was more important to Him than His relationship with the Father, and His love for the people. That was His whole life, and He truly did something that we could never do, nor are expected to. His love is our perfection. He gives us one key piece right here: "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” (Mark 10:15) Little children are innocent and sweet, and are constantly learning, and seeking answers to life, while still relying on their parents or caregivers to provide their every need. They experience honest humility in just being them, and without some type of guidance, they'd be lost. Does that sound familiar? The truth is that God gave us His Son Jesus to teach us how to go back to being "Little Children" in Spirit, by truly depending on Him. He opened Himself up to us, by His grace, and offers freedom through Christ. We now have the freedom to go to Him whenever, and for whatever, in the Name of Jesus. We've been let off of the hook, and no longer have to try to be righteous or perfect all by ourselves, because it will never happen. We're offered strength, peace, and happiness in and through all things, and will never have to worry about bearing the weight of the world again. Allow His truth to set you free today. Jesus is waiting, ready and willing, to give you freedom, what are you waiting for? Say that prayer today! My favorite verse today is: God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. (2 Corinthians 5:19)

Today's scriptures are about God's mercy, which brings righteousness and truth. Have you ever heard the saying "the truth will set you free"? What do you think that means? It's always been said that one lie leads to another, and the next lie has to be bigger, to cover the last lie, and it always spirals out of control. When you're trapped in a lie, it becomes a great burden, so it's just easier to tell the truth, and deal with the consequences. That's the same principle when it comes to sin. One sin leads to the next, and it becomes a trap that you cannot get out of, and then a burden that weighs heavy on your heart, especially in the life of the believer. Eventually you'll be a slave to the flesh, and will do whatever it takes to make it happy, to escape the eternal pain it brings. I know this feeling first hand, because I've been there. I used to live a life of an unsaved person, because I was in pain. I surrounded myself with sinners, and was heavily influenced by the "world", yet on the inside I never wanted to live that type of life. My soul was in so much turmoil, that I got caught up in that web of trying to break the cycle of using one sin to cover up the next. I was saved at a very young age, and baptized on my 15th birthday, so I had the Holy Spirit in my heart. He always made His presence known, but I chose to ignore Him. It wasn't until I found out the truth about God that I began to allow Him to turn my life around. When I realized how gracious and merciful my God is, I wanted nothing more than to please Him, and do right by Him. There's always redemption in Christ, and it doesn't matter how long you've been a sinner, or what type of sin you've committed, there's forgiveness, due to His mercy, and ability to create righteousness within you. The blood of Jesus cleanses you from all unrighteousness, so count it all joy! All God needs from you is your confession, which is the whole truth of your sin, and then ask for forgiveness. Once you do that, and repent, He'll know that you're ready to move forward, and will often times deliver you from the burden of that sin, so you won’t have to battle with it. He knows your heart, and knows full well if you're truthful about that repentance, and because of His mercy He'll always forgive and forget. God is a God of peace and love, and will do whatever it takes to keep you there. Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
Today’s scriptures are about conquering worry with faith. I don’t know one person who doesn’t worry about something, at one time or another; it’s a natural thing to do in the flesh. At the same time, worry shows a lack of faith in God. The only thing that overcomes worry is trust, and that is true when it comes to everything. In a relationship, if you don’t trust your spouse, you’re going to worry about them being faithful. That lack of trust comes from a past failure, mistake, or a breakdown in communication. The same goes for your relationship with your children, because you know they’re growing, and you can’t always trust them to do things that are above their maturity level, so you end up worrying about them. It will come a time where you’ll have to trust them, so simply pray, let go, and trust God to care for them. No relationship will work without trust, and that’s especially true in our relationship with our Heavenly Father. God asks us to stay close to Him, by praying without ceasing, reading His Word, and meditating on it. If we’re doing these things, we have nothing to worry about, because we’re building a strong relationship with Him. His Holy Spirit works within us to teach us the things we should know, in order to compete God’s will. He also helps us pray, it’s written: Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27) Doesn’t this all sound so simple? Especially since we hear it every day when we read our devotionals, or every Sunday when we go to church. Those who hunger for God will be blessed beyond imagination. There’s no need to want for anything, because God promised to grant our every need, as well as some wants and desire. Yet stress is the leading cause of sickness, disease, and even death. My mom and grandmother had this saying, “you’re gonna worry me to death”, and in all actuality, that is such a true statement. I can truly testify to that, because stress, depression, and sickness, all had a strong hold on me, just a few years ago. It wasn’t until I truly surrendered my life to God, that He delivered me from that. There’s a section in the Sermon on the Mount, which Jesus preached about worry. I was drawn to this section, because worry ruled my life. I used to worry from the time I woke up in the morning, until the time I laid down at night. I couldn’t sleep, because as soon as I closed my eyes, thoughts started swirling around in my head. I was thinking, “How am I going to do this?”, “who’s going to take care of that?”, “what if I do this?”, “where is this going to take me?”, “why did I do that?”, and this went on and on, until my peace was completely gone. All I could do was open my bible and read, and most nights prayed until I fell asleep, and the Holy Spirit always led me right back here, so I’m going to leave you with this:
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature (or one hour to his life)?
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:24-32)
Now, if God makes the flowers beautiful, and they’re thrown out tomorrow, how much more will He do for you? If He makes sure that the birds eat, and have homes, what more will He provide for you? I wasn’t going to share this entire passage, but I know that someone needed to read it from the Word of God. This passage changed my life, and I hope it does the same for you. Have faith in God, simply because He loves you, and will never let you fall. Thank Him every day, because even when it seems like He isn’t there, He working on your behalf. Ask Him for everything that you want, need or desire, and if you have faith, it’s yours, period. He won’t ever give you anything that will cause you more worry, anger or pain, but He will allow certain things, in order to reach out to you. Don’t take my word for it; you have it from the mouth of Jesus Christ himself. He’s the key to strengthening your faith, because through Him, all blessings flow. Start praying right now, and ask God for the answers through Christ, cast your cares upon Him, and leave them there. Believe me as long as you’re faithful in seeking Him, He’s faithful in answering. Don’t forget about the God quiz, it may shed some light for you. My favorite verses today are: O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. (Psalms 34:9-10)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
Today's scriptures are about God's ever present help in our time of need. There isn't anything too large for God, and He does whatever it takes to protect those who love Him. He created us to fellowship with Him, so He'll always make sure we have everything we need to do so. To live in a world full of sin, corruption, and evil, we must remain strong in God's love. His promises can be found in His Word, which helps us properly communicate with Him. Speaking of communication, I just came across the story of Jonah, and I think it perfectly describes today’s scriptures. God loved the people of Nineveh very much, but they rebelled against Him. He commanded Jonah to go there and tell them to repent of their sins, or He would destroy them and their land. Presently, God also gives us warnings, before we get ourselves in some type of mess, so always take heed of everyone He puts in your life, and listen for His guidance. Jonah wasn't so smart, because He thought he could escape God's presence. I believe Jonah didn't think he was good enough to be called by God, nor did he think the people of Nineveh were worthy of salvation, so he fled. He boarded a ship going the opposite way, thinking he’d get away. How many times have you done that? I’ve tried to flee from God, when I thought that the things He was asking me to do didn’t fit into “my” plans. I started avoiding bible study and prayer time, and when I would hear Him speak to me I’d try to drown Him out with music or television, but none of that work, because He eventually got my attention. He got Jonah’s attention by sending a terrible storm, which almost destroyed him, the boat, and several other people. While the boat was sinking, Jonah was in the bottom, sound asleep. The crew members ultimately found out that Jonah was the cause of this storm. At this moment, you can tell that Jonah was a true man of God, because he told the crew members to throw him overboard, in order to save their lives. However, part of him dying there, meant he wouldn't have to face the people of Nineveh as well. Here's the wonderful part of the story, it's written: And the LORD appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the stomach of the fish three days and three nights. (Jonah 1:17) Although Jonah blatantly defied God, he was never utterly cast down and destroyed. God saved him, but put him in a place where He could no longer run and hide. All Jonah could do is pray for three full days. Have you ever been at a point like that in your life, where you were in so much pain, fear, or utter confusion that all you could do was pray? I can remember numerous times where I've been in the "belly of the fish", but in those moments I was most likely reaping what I sowed. In chapter two Jonah cries out to the Lord with praise, and he said: "I called out of my distress to the LORD, and He answered me, I cried for help from the depth of Sheol; you heard my voice." (vs 2) Throughout this prayer, Jonah acknowledge his mistakes, and thanked God for saving him, because he knew that had he just listened to God in the first place, none of this would’ve happened. Can you relate to Jonah on that? I can recall the days, where I said, "Had I just listened..." When God let Jonah out of the belly of that fish, Jonah ran to Nineveh and did exactly what God commanded, and they accepted him, and repented. It's written: When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it. (Jonah 3:10) This made Jonah very angry, it's written: He prayed to the LORD and said, "Please LORD, was not this what I said while I was still in my own country? Therefore in order to forestall this I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity." (Jonah 4:2) He then asked God to take his life, because he was that upset. Jonah couldn’t understand why God saved these evil and vile people, while his own people suffered. But God said to him, "it is right for you to be angry" (vs. 4). God understands all that we go through, and empathizes with us. Jonah was like most of us, stubborn, hotheaded, and determined to do his own thing. However, only the almighty Lord knows what's best for us. He'll only allow us to suffer so much, before He steps in and intervene, hoping that we'll get the lesson. One thing that we can learn from Jonah is that God will never leave us, and will do what it takes to keep us in line with His will, even if it means being in the belly of the fish. After all of this, God had to give Jonah yet another lesson, to teach Him how importation compassion is. The book of Jonah is only four small chapters, so take a moment and read it, and see what you get out of it. I learned that no matter how bad things may seem, God will always give us the strength to endure, even when we bring the pain on ourselves. It's easier to seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and follow His will, then to try and hide from Him. He loves us too much to ever let us go. He proved that by giving His Son Jesus as our Savior, and I'm grateful! Get to know Jesus Christ today, and allow Him to be Savior of your life. My favorite verse today is: In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. (Psalm 138:3)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY MONDAY!
Today's scriptures are about being perfect in the Lord. Okay, so I know you’re already asking yourself, “How could God ask us to be perfect, when we were taught that nobody’s perfect, but Jesus Christ?”, and that is a fair question to ask. Sin will always be around, and each man, in the flesh, is subjected to it. Hence the sacrifice of a blemish free, spotless Lamb, to atone for the sins of all. When Jesus died on the cross, He took on the weight of sin, for all mankind. When He was resurrected, and ascended into Heaven to be with God, He blessed us with the Holy Spirit. Since then, when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we’re baptized with His Holy Spirit, which in turns gives us the ability to be righteous, perfect, or sin free. How many times have you heard me, or other people, explain this? I’m sure it’s been many, but do you truly understand it? If I say to you today, that you can be perfect, just as Jesus was, would you believe me? God expects us to be perfect, but not on our own strength, because the flesh is weak, and easily swayed to sin. However, we’re made perfect by the blood of Christ, and it’s only by Him that we can live perfected, each day of our life. It’s the Word of God, which was manifested into flesh that gives us the ability to be perfect. It’s written: The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. (Psalm 19:7-9) You notice that everything points to “the LORD”? God never expected us to be anything but human, but when He gets a hold of us, He’s expecting perfection, because that’s who He is, and we’re made in His likeness. All He needs from us is our faith and trust. Paul wrote just that, in his letter to the Philippians; he told them “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6), and that was true then, now, and forever. We know God, and if He’s ever commanded us to do something, He’s always going to give us the resources to get it done. No one will ever give a first grader a calculus exam, and expect them to pass it with an A+. Now there are some exceptionally gifted children, that may be able to pull that off, but they’re few and far between. Abraham, Paul, Peter, David, Solomon, James [and I could go on and on], were all regular human beings like you and me, but God chose to use them in extraordinary ways, because of their Faith. James pointed that out to us in his epistle, and it’s written: Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”And he was called the friend of God. (James 2:21-23) Wow! God is perfect, and He commands us to be perfect, so the only way for us to obey that command is to seek it from Him. We’re never going to be without sin, but perfection comes from our Faith. If He knows we’re doing our best to love Him with all of our heart and soul, that’s perfect enough for Him. There was only one Jesus, or one Abraham, but I was created to be the perfect Saundra, and you to be the perfect you, in Christ. Don’t ever forget that. If you don’t know who Christ is, that’s your first step for perfection. Pray and ask Him to be Lord of your life today. Feel free to take the God quiz, and see where you are in your faith. Okay, so I know you’re already asking yourself, “How could God ask us to be perfect, when we were taught that nobody’s perfect, but Jesus Christ?”, and that is a fair question to ask. Sin will always be around, and each man, in the flesh, is subjected to it. Hence the sacrifice of a blemish free, spotless Lamb, to atone for the sins of all. When Jesus died on the cross, He took on the weight of sin, for all mankind. When He was resurrected, and ascended into Heaven to be with God, He blessed us with the Holy Spirit. Since then, when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we’re baptized with His Holy Spirit, which in turns gives us the ability to be righteous, perfect, or sin free. How many times have you heard me, or other people, explain this? I’m sure it’s been many, but do you truly understand it? If I say to you today, that you can be perfect, just as Jesus was, would you believe me? God expects us to be perfect, but not on our own strength, because the flesh is weak, and easily swayed to sin. However, we’re made perfect by the blood of Christ, and it’s only by Him that we can live perfected, each day of our life. It’s the Word of God, which was manifested into flesh that gives us the ability to be perfect. It’s written: The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. (Psalm 19:7-9) You notice that everything points to “the LORD”? God never expected us to be anything but human, but when He gets a hold of us, He’s expecting perfection, because that’s who He is, and we’re made in His likeness. All He needs from us is our faith and trust. Paul wrote just that, in his letter to the Philippians; he told them “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6), and that was true then, now, and forever. We know God, and if He’s ever commanded us to do something, He’s always going to give us the resources to get it done. No one will ever give a first grader a calculus exam, and expect them to pass it with an A+. Now there are some exceptionally gifted children, that may be able to pull that off, but they’re few and far between. Abraham, Paul, Peter, David, Solomon, James [and I could go on and on], were all regular human beings like you and me, but God chose to use them in extraordinary ways, because of their Faith. James pointed that out to us in his epistle, and it’s written: Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”And he was called the friend of God. (James 2:21-23) Wow! God is perfect, and He commands us to be perfect, so the only way for us to obey that command is to seek it from Him. We’re never going to be without sin, but perfection comes from our Faith. If He knows we’re doing our best to love Him with all of our heart and soul, that’s perfect enough for Him. There was only one Jesus, or one Abraham, but I was created to be the perfect Saundra, and you to be the perfect you, in Christ. Don’t ever forget that. If you don’t know who Christ is, that’s your first step for perfection. Pray and ask Him to be Lord of your life today. Feel free to take the God quiz, and see where you are in your faith.
