Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Today’s scriptures are about the oneness of the Father and the Son. This has been the overall theme of the devotionals this week, and what a way to end the week. Earlier this week I referenced this verse of scripture: for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. (1 Cor. 8:6) We know that God has always been the trinity, “God the Father, God Son, and God the Holy Spirit, based on very first chapter of the Bible. It’s written: Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” (Gen 1:26) After God the Father created the earth, and everything else, He decided to create us in “their” image. We were special from the beginning of time, and we’re now one with Him.
There’s a hierarchy of everything in life, it’s the way that God created it. Even in the Body of Christ, we all have different roles, some higher than others, but they’re all meant to work together to accomplish on common goal. God the Father is the creator of all things. He created mankind for companionship and fellowship, but He also created us to take care of His land (Gen. 2:5-7). God is the Father and the Creator, but Jesus is the Son, through whom all things came and through whom we live. Jesus came to earth as man, and lived like a man. He’s the Holy Redeemer, the One who spiritually connects God and man. He and God are one and the same, but they have totally different roles. Jesus gives us Spiritual freedom and salvation, so that our lives can come full circle. God created us, so He wants nothing more than to fellowship with us forever. Then there’s the Holy Spirit, who helps us stay connected moment by moment, in the Spirit. He helps up properly communicate on a Spiritual level with God, and guides us to living a righteous life. So God is our creator, through whom all things are possible, Jesus is our redeemer, through whom we become one with God, and the Holy Spirit is our Helper, who leads us through life.
What does all of this mean to you and me? It’s simple, how can you truly love someone if you don’t truly know them? Too often we sin, and live according to the ways of the world, because we don’t know any better. It’s written: So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. (Eph. 4:17-19) Humans, saved or unsaved, often live like the “Gentiles”, and that’s very dangerous. We must do our part in learning about the ways of God, so that we can truly live in truth. That truth is that we are actually one with God. He lives inside of us, and our body is His temple. He feels, sees, and hears everything we do and say, so it’s important to live right, and seek Him.
Paul went on to say: That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (Eph. 4:20-24) Hallelujah!!! We were created to be like God, and nothing less. Take your rightful place in this world, as a blessed and mighty child of God. There’s no reason why any of us can’t be exactly where we want to be—living a joyous and peaceful life! Of course we’re going to stray, and be tried, but as long as we know who we are in Him, we’ll survive, and bring other believers with us.
Do you know who you are? You are “one” with the One True God, and there’s no one else like you. You’re unique and special in your own right, so don’t ever let anyone tell you any different. God loves you just the way you are; after all He’s the one who created you that way. Jesus died so that you can only get better, so trust Him to help you get there. The Holy Spirit is there whenever you call on Him, He’ll always help show you the way. We’re covered on all sides, so have peace in knowing that you’re chosen, you’re loved, and you’re safe in God. If you don’t know Jesus as Lord, you’re a creation like everything else, but you aren’t “one” with God. To find out how to complete that circle of oneness, take a few moments to take the God Quiz today. My favorite verse today is: My Father, and your Father; ... my God and your God. (John 20:17)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today’s scriptures are about putting in the work that goes with the faith we have in God. I know I remind us almost every day of the ultimate commandments—to Love God with all of our heart, and to love each other. I do that because it truly is all God requires from us, in order to live in peace, above the world and its problems. I also do it to reaffirm the fact that to love God is an action. To believe in Him is the first step, but with that faith we must work to help strengthen the Kingdom of God. The same goes for loving each other; we must work to make sure that people can see Christ in us. The bible teaches us that faith and works are to be in unison.

We’re here to serve God, so we must do what we could to spread the Gospel of Christ. There are millions of people, all over the world, who don’t know Jesus Christ. As we learned yesterday, we each were chosen to be children of God, and He has a will for our lives. We each may have a different calling, but ultimately the talents we’ve been anointed with all play a role, which is to ultimately lead people to Christ. God is amazing, and He has several ways to get through to people.

Jesus referred to us as “the church”. Before He died, He asked one of His disciples Simon who he thought that He was. Simon answered correctly by saying, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:16-19) The fact that Jesus was the Messiah meant that He was rebuilding the children of God, making all believers one with Him. We are now a great and Holy Church, which requires the assistance of each member, in order to function properly.

I think of my physical Church, and all of its functions, jobs, and responsibilities. It takes more than just prayer and a belief in what we stand for, but it takes work to keep it running. It wasn’t until I became a little more involved in my current church, that I realized this. Our Pastor is the leader of the flock—he was chosen by God to teach us His Word, and to care for His sheep. However, the Pastor cannot run the church by Himself, hence the need for Elders, different committees, ministry leaders, Deacons, day care service provides, etc. We each have to come together as a family, and work to keep our church afloat. Each job is as important as the next. All efforts work in unison, to offer the precious Word of God, to any and all who comes. For most Christians, the only “Word” they get is on Sunday mornings at church.

I hope this analogy helps you understand that God needs you. He’s chosen you for a reason, so it isn’t enough to just believe that He exists, but you must work to follow His will for your life. We must come together as a unit, and work on helping others see the light that is Jesus Christ. We must hunger and thirst for the Lord, which will lead us to work to find out everything there is to know about Him. We must work on making ourselves better, in union with the Lord. How many of us are stagnant in the Lord, and don’t feel like we’re growing? How many people want to change, and have it in their heart to be a good person, but find themselves falling short? That may be caused because you believe in Jesus Christ, have your mansion all ready to go, but you haven’t committed to serving the Lord. There are also those who have over committed themselves to service, and work so much that they completely miss out on their personal relationship with God. If that’s you, remember that even Jesus took time out of His busy schedule to spend some quiet alone time with the Lord.

As of today, I want you to commit to telling at least one person about Jesus each day. Try sharing a testimony or two with them, or just letting them know how much you love Him (Twitter and Facebook is allowed too, God allowed its creation for a reason). Work to achieve God’s will for your life. He will show you step by step what’s required of you, so be willing to completely listen. Working for God doesn’t always require a lot of busy work, or some elaborate ministry. If you clean homes for a living, clean those homes as if you were cleaning for Jesus Himself. If you’re a doctor, use extra care with your bedside manner, to make sure that people can feel God’s love through you. Remember, don’t rely solely on saying, Tweeting, or Facebook’ing about how much you love God, but let’s show Him by our works.

If you don’t know Jesus as Lord and Savior, then you especially need this message today. Before you can be a part of the church, you must first conquer the “faith” portion, and become a believer. It simply requires you confessing your faith in Jesus, and then inviting Him to be a part of your life, as Lord and Savior. Once you confess your sins and repent, you’re all set. If you want more information, take the God Quiz today. My favorite verses today are: We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Today's scriptures are about God's relentless grace. I choose the word relentless to describe God’s grace because that's exactly what it is. As soon as we think that He's fed up with us, He comes right back, and showers us with love. I can only vouch for myself, but there are times when I make the same mistakes over and over again, and I think, "Okay, God is really angry with me now", then I go to Him in prayer, ask for forgiveness, and repent. I then ask Him to give me strength to overcome my weaknesses. All of a sudden I feel this warmth in my heart, as if I feel Him hug me, and whisper in my ear, saying everything’s going to be okay. Don't get me wrong, I am punished quickly for my sins, but once that punishment is done, and He forgives me that is the end of that.
God is similar to our earthly parents. In my opinion, the perfect father would be a man who prays for, molds, supports, and cherishes his family with all of his heart. His entire life is devoted to keeping them safe, providing for them, and nourishing the household. With any parent, it's your God given job to shape and mold your children into responsible, loving and caring human beings. You do that by offering your unconditional love, support, as well as discipline. A child will never learn the affects of bad choices if you excuse everything they do, continuously shower them with gifts, or overlook their bad behavior. At times, the punishment may need to be more severe than others, in order to teach them the ways of life. You never want your child to go out into the world ignorant to the repercussions of bad choices and decisions. You want to protect them, but not shelter them too much, where they never experience "real life" lessons. Punishments are as important as rewards.
God handles us with care, but is still firm when it's needed. He's tender and merciful because He is Love. Love is such a wonderful thing, just imagine how you feel when you look at a person and your heart gets warm, and the first thing that comes to your mind is "I love him or her". You can feel this way about anyone, your significant other, husband or wife, parent or grandparent, or even your children. That feeling comes from God. If we could love someone so much, just imagine how much He loves us. How many times have your child, niece or nephew, etc., done something that made you so mad that you just wanted to punish them? However when you see them, you can't help but love them. They may do something to make you laugh, hug you real tight, or give you the sad face and say, "I'm sorry", and you can't help but smile. God sees us in that way as well. Our trials and tribulations are normally allowed as refinement so that we can learn from our mistakes. Have you ever heard your parents say, "This will hurt me more than it hurts you"? I'm sure God feel that way when we sin against Him and He has to punish us. When we sin, we grieve His Holy Spirit, and so He waits patiently for us to come to Him and repent.
We have the ability to choose right from wrong, so we cannot get upset when we're merely reaping what we're sowing. As I mentioned before, it's okay to question God in periods of angst and turmoil; He welcomes that. Just know that you're not a victim of circumstance, but you're in a refinement period, and be watchful of the lessons that need to be learned in each situation. Paul reminds us of how to conduct ourselves as Christians, it's written: Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Eph. 4:25-32 NIV)
Through the blood of Jesus Christ we have the ability to be forgiven of ANY sin that we commit. God wants us to confess our sins with a humbled and contrite heart, and ask of forgiveness. Repentance is the only requirement for forgiveness. He knows our heart, so when we're truly remorseful for our sins, then He will forgive us, and never count that sin against us again. You will be judged for the right and wrong decisions you've made on judgment day, but your place in Heaven is secure. Jesus died to give you that privilege, so don't allow false guilt to dictate your life. If you committed a sin ten years ago, and have humbly asked God to forgive you, you have been forgiven! If you're still carrying around the guilt of that sin, then you need to forgive yourself, because God has already forgiven you, and wants you to move on. Guilt is another form of bondage that the enemy puts us in. If you confessed and repented for your sin last night before you went to bed, then today you and God started over with a clean slate. When He looks at you, He's so very proud.
If you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then I urge you to pray and ask Him to be Lord of your life today. Once you've said that prayer you are now a part of the Kingdom of God, and sin will never hinder you again, if you don't allow it to. If Jesus already lives in your heart, yet you haven't confessed and repented for you sins, and you feel the burden of it in your heart, then you can go to God and repent, and ask for forgiveness right now. If you need help with those prayers, feel free to contact me, or check out Dr. Stanley's God Quiz right now. My favorite verse today is: Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God. (Ephesians 2:13)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about the love of God, and the great pleasures He has in store for us. When you think of God, and how good He’s been in your life, how would you answer the question, “How great is God”? John shared his thoughts with us, and it's written: How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure. (1 John 3:1-3) John said "everyone" who has hope in God, will be purified. Our hope in God therefore shows our love for Him, and He has great roads paved for those how love Him. All we have to do is trust Him with our life, by following His commands, and the sky's the limit. We're meant to live in abundance, and have great joy in life, through Jesus Christ, so God will make sure we get there. Jesus said: "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” (John 14:21)
Knowing that God has had our life planned out, from the beginning of time, helps us understand how very precious we are. We're His chosen children called into service, so there's a reason for us to be here. God doesn't work the way the world works, and we must surrender to Him, so that He can conform us to His ways. There's always great pleasure when we're walking with Him, no matter what's happening in our life. With God, we'll find the beauty in ashes, because He's fixed our heart to be able to think that way.
Our feeble minds aren't able to understand how vast the love and knowledge of God is, so we can't begin to figure out what's going to happen in the future, and we're not expected too. He only expects our trust and that we follow the leadership of His Holy Spirit. I promise, from experience, when you Cast your cares upon the Lord and leave them there, you have nothing else to worry about. If you pray the way Jesus taught you, and in His Name, then all of your bases are covered.
When you get the urge to follow Him in a certain way, that may or may not be logical to the world, but it feels right in your spirit, then go for it, and only joy will follow. Never say never when it comes to God, because He won't set you up for failure. He'll provide your every need, and light your every path, because it was predestined that way. There's nothing more fulfilling than to know that you've completely surrendered, and you're making a difference, because He’s using you for something great. Surrender is the most important thing to God, and He’ll determine the “something great”. Remember He said, "I don't think as man thinks", so great to Him is far different than anything we could imagine. It's time to stop worrying about what people think, and comparing ourselves to their measure of success, and seek first the Kingdom of God. Learn the ways of Christ, and pray and ask God to show you what He thinks is great, and what you need to do to make Him proud.
Consider the life of Jesus, He wasn't a rich man, didn't have fancy clothes, a big house, or jewels, like King Solomon or King David, but He was rich in Spirit. He got to do things that only others could dream of. He made a real difference in the life of others. Yes he was persecuted, talked about, and ultimately tortured and killed, but none of that mattered to Him, because He had an eternal joy that we couldn’t imagine, because He surrendered, and so have thousands of others who's chosen to walk that path. We must learn to lose ourselves and take on our roles as servants of the Most High God. God will in turn serve those who serve Him. He takes great pleasure when you're following in His ways, and don’t worry, the Holy Spirit will show you how.
Accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior is only a part of it. Surrender takes you saying, "Lord here's my heart open to You, my body sacrificed to serve You, and I’ll love You for ever and ever, Amen". I've been saved since I was a young girl, but I hadn't surrendered until about 5 years ago, and I've learned to surrender every day since. If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior then take that first step right now. If you do have Jesus in your heart, yet still haven't experienced the joy of the Lord deep inside, then you need to surrender right now. He's waiting to hear from each of you. My favorite verse today is: Since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. (Isaiah 64:4)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Today's scriptures are about boasting in our weaknesses, because by faith, God will make us strong. We shouldn’t base the love of God upon the circumstances in our life, because God has purpose and plans for us. Just as He’s created each of us with gifts and talents, He’s also given us weaknesses. These weaknesses are put into place to not only keep us close to God, but to also allow Him to show His power and strength through us. Have you noticed that most of the people God used to do great things in the stories found in the bible were the most unlikely people? Most of them where what the world considered weak, but they all had very strong faith. This reminds me of the story of David and Goliath. There was a time when King Saul reigned over Israel, but he disobeyed the word of God and the Kingdom was about to be stripped from him. At this time, God spoke to the Prophet Samuel, and he delivered the news to Saul. It’s written: Samuel said to him, "The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to one of your neighbors—to one better than you. He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a man, that he should change his mind." (1 Sam. 15:28) Take note of how Samuel described this person. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if God described you in that way?
God then commanded Samuel to go to Bethlehem to visit a man named Jesse, because one of Jesse’s sons was going to be the new King. Samuel went, and when he met Jesse’s son Elaib he said "Surely the LORD's anointed stands here before the LORD." (1 Sam. 16:6) It goes on to say: But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (16:7) Samuel then met seven other sons of Jesse, but he knew that the Lord hadn’t chosen either of them. He asked if there was another, and the last of Jesse’s sons, the youngest, was David. David wasn’t even considered to be “interviewed by Samuel, but was left outside to tend to the sheep. It’s written: So he sent and had him brought in. He was ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, "Rise and anoint him; he is the one." (16:12). Why do you think, out of all of the sons, God chose the one lest likely to go; the one who was seemingly the weakest? I think it’s because the greater testimony could come out of using David, instead of the older, wiser, or stronger of the sons; and he had the most humbled heart. Samuel then anointed David with the Spirit of the Lord, and he went on to work with King Saul, as his right hand man, helping Saul in any way that he could. Mostly by praying with him.
The Philistines threatened to attack Israel, while they were still under Saul’s command. They had a giant named Goliath in their army, He was bigger than anyone they’d ever seen before; they referred to him as “a champion” in the New King James version of the bible. No one had come close to defeating Goliath, so he challenged Saul to a one on one fight with anyone in his army. He said, “if this man kills me, we will be your slaves” (17:9). The soldiers were very afraid, because they couldn’t think of anyone who could possibly defeat him.
These were the people of God; His chosen nation, so He wasn’t going to let them fall. At this moment of great weakness, whom do you think they turned too? There are times in our life when we’re going to face “giants”, but it’s all in God’s perfect plan. He allows these giants to help challenge our faith. Through these challenges, we’re strengthened.
The Philistines gave Saul some time to find a suitable warrior to fight Goliath, but the time was drawing near. Saul called to David, who wasn’t even a soldier in the Army, to come and pray with him. When David came to Saul, Goliath showed up. Everyone else ran away in fear, but David, the person lest likely to step up, was the only one who volunteered for the challenge. No matter how much people laughed at or mocked him, he stood firm on His faith in God. Even King Saul tried to talk him out of it, but he said: The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." (17:37) When Saul heard that, he gave him his blessings. I’m sure you know how this ends; David defeated this giant with a rock and a slingshot, how great and mighty is our God! David went on to be one of God’s greatest and most beloved Kings of Israel, as well as a great Psalmist. He was loved so much because He trusted God with all His heart, and never changed his mind. No matter how many battles he faced, he overcame them with faith, not by his on strength. He wasn’t perfect by any means, and fell short, but God knew his heart, just as He knows ours. Remember, stand on the love of God, and not on your own strength, because that’s the only way you’ll defeat the giants in your life. Most weaknesses are giants, because we cannot overcome them without God. Jesus is the way to this victory, so get to know Him today. Take the God Quiz right now! My favorite verse today is: I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. (Psalms 71:16)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Today’s scriptures are about being cleansed of our iniquities. Look around you, and then look at yourself in the mirror. Do you notice the iniquities of the world, let alone the iniquities inside of you? I could go on and on about the state of the world, and how the moral values have faded, and integrity is at its lowest point, but we don’t have much time for that. Sometimes it isn’t good to dwell on the negative, but we should acknowledge it, and try to find a solution. The world’s sins start on the inside of each individual. We must be held accountable for our own sins, because that’s the only thing that we can really control. I just thank God for Grace and mercy, because without His favor, where would we be? It’s hard to imagine, but things could always get worst. The irony of the state of sin, and the commotion it causes in our heart, is that it doesn’t have to be that way. From the day that Jesus died on the cross, our sins were exonerated. Jesus offered us living water, so that our sins could be easily washed away. Jesus said: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 6:37-38) Upon acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior, He’s instilled in our heart, and His living waters flows within us. His blood makes that possible, and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. We simply need to ask for forgiveness, and it’s granted. Notice He said, “if any thirsts, let him come to Me”, so it doesn’t matter what you’ve done, when, where, or why you’ve done it, you will be forgiven. All that’s needed is at that very moment, go to Him, by praying to God in His Name, confessing your sins, and asking for forgiveness. Now you may be thinking, “if it’s that easy, why should I stop sinning?” and I have the answer to that. Jesus’ death saves us from the eternal consequences of sin, not the moral consequences. Remember, you reap what you sow, more than you sow. Sin causes an overwhelming sense of discontent and anguish in your heart. Most sin will bring pleasure for the moment, but will ultimately lead to destruction. I started off today referencing the sins of the world, so I’m going to acknowledge some of the consequences. The earth is essentially deteriorating at the core, because of our blatant disregard and abuse of the earth and it’s natural resources. It seems like each day there’s a new form of cancer, and life threatening and incurable diseases like the AIDS virus are spreading like wildfires. The family value system is broken (for lack of a better word), because we don’t value the sanctity of marriage, and we neither respect our precious bodies nor ourselves. Need I say more? These are all the affects of sins, so yes, you can pray and ask for forgiveness and still get into Heaven, but your life is worth much more than that. While you’re here, you’re expected to strengthen your personal relationship with God, as well as the body of Christ. You’re meant to share your light, and the living water that’s in your heart, with unbelievers and the people who’s lacking. You’re meant to spread God’s love across ALL nations (Matt 28:19). How can you efficiently do that if you covered in sin? It’s written: Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “ I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go. Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea… “ There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.” (Isa. 48:17-18, 22) Commit that last verse to memory; it’s so good, I’ll write it again, “There is no peace for the wicked”! Did He say no salvation? No, He said no peace, and next to salvation, peace is the most precious gift we could ever receive. God will willingly cleanse you from all unrighteousness whenever you ask Him, because He loves you that much. However, He does require repentance in order to restore your peace. Jesus is the source of all love, peace, joy, and happiness, because through Him living water flows. If you haven’t confessed Him as Lord and Savior, then you should stop what you’re doing, and do it right now. It’s a quick, yet sincere prayer, asking God to forgive you of your sins, and inviting Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior. If you haven’t said this prayer yet, and feel like something’s missing in your life, then that’s the only answer. Allow Him to restore your peace. My favorite verse today is: I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. (Jeremiah 33:8)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

A highlight of the weekend was the play I saw entitled "The Child Support Man" on Saturday, at the Soul Factory in Forestville, MD. This church is beyond contemporary, but they are real on every level. I like the way they relate to the lost sheep, by allowing them to understand that being lost is only okay, if you're trying to find your way home. There's no condemnation at this church, but simply an open arms policy. I love that concept, and I truly enjoyed the play, because it touched on so many serious issues about relationships, broken homes, the Family Judicial system, and the affects broken homes have on children. I highly recommend you see it, I know it’ll be playing again this coming weekend, and the tickets are reasonably priced (check out their website http://www.thesoulfactory.com/). Enjoy the remainder of your day, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about walking in the ways of God. Everyone who looks at you sees God. Did you know that you are a representative of Him; His love, His will, His mercy, His grace, His artistic abilities, and so much more! You must wear that crown with honor, respect, and integrity, because the salvation of your fellow man depends on it. There is always someone watching you, because you’re peculiar people. You ever notice a person who’s in love, especially new love? They have this glow about them, and they’re smiling from the inside out. Just imagine how you radiate when you’re in love with God. There’s this certain glow that you get, and people notice. When you build a strong relationship with God by spending time with Him, and learning His ways, He begins to fill you with His spirit of joy, and it gives you this sparkle even a lost man can’t ignore. People should feel Him when they’re in your presence, hear Him when you speak, and see Him when they look into your eyes [which are said to be the windows to your soul]. Knowing this, you must be careful how you carry yourself, because you can be an asset or a hindrance to the Kingdom. There’s always a lost sheep trying to find its way home, and we have the power to either guide them home, or lead them astray. The only thing worse than being ignorant, is being misinformed.
When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we’re making a vow to God. We’re ultimately vowing to surrender to Him, and allow Him to be Lord of our life. When we follow through with that vow, He begins to work on us from the inside, by immediately filling us with the His Holy Spirit. However, the Holy Spirit is a “Gentleman”, and will allow us to ultimately make our own choices, so in all essence we must surrender. God loves us, and He simply asks that we treat people the way we want to be treated, respect Him and ourselves, and ultimately love Him and everyone around us. So when you’re walking down the street, shopping in the mall, having a conversation, or anything else, people should know that you’re a child of God, by the way you interact. Just as when Jesus walked through the land, the people knew that there was something different about Him, although some didn’t know exactly what, but they knew He was special. They could tell, just by the way He interacted and spoke, exactly who He was, “the Son of the Most High God”. Jesus said: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.” (Luke 9:23-24). Please don’t use God’s grace, including His generous gift of forgiveness, as justification to conform to the world. I know firsthand how easy that could be. If you love God, and are interested in knowing how to take the first steps to being conformed into Righteousness, take the God quiz today. My favorite verse today is: The God of peace, ... make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 13:20-21)

PS

I’m going to leave you with this Psalm of David” (NIV):

Psalm 15

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary?
Who may live on your holy hill?
2 He whose walk is blameless
and who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from his heart
3 and has no slander on his tongue,
who does his neighbor no wrong
and casts no slur on his fellowman,
4 who despises a vile man
but honors those who fear the LORD,
who keeps his oath
even when it hurts,
5 who lends his money without usury
and does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things
will never be shaken.

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

Today's scriptures are about praying openly, honestly, and by faith. We were created to fellowship and worship the Lord. The word worship is found in almost 200 verses in the New King James version of the Bible, but what does the word mean? It's defined by Merriam-Webster as: reverence offered a divine being or supernatural power... Now this leads us to finding out what the word "reverence" means; it's defined: honor or respect felt or shown. With this newfound knowledge, isn't it safe to say that prayer is a part of worshipping God? Of course it is, because it's a sign of respect when we acknowledge Him in all things. I was listening to Dr. Stanley’s radio show, entitled "In Jesus' Name" (it can be found in the audio archives on his website), and he said one thing that went off in my head like a light bulb. He asked a simple question, similar to this: "Don't you know that you're praying to the all powerful, all knowing, wonderful Ruler of the Universe?” When he said that, it was like I hit the jackpot in Las Vegas, I heard "ding, ding, ding, ding, ding". It was such an epiphany to me because I never thought of it like that. Don't get me wrong, I know God, and I love Him with all of my heart and soul, but when I'm praying, it's like I'm speaking to my father, or a best friend who loves and cares for me unconditionally. It's almost like if you were best friends with President Obama, and you talk to him everyday, you're not looking at it as if he's "the leader of the free world", but you see him just as your best friend Barack. That's how comfortable I've gotten in my relationship with God, but sometimes I have to step back and remind myself that God is the creator of everything, yet He loves me so much that all the hairs on my head are numbered. Through Jesus Christ I can do all things, because He taught us to make our supplications known to God, with thanksgiving, faith, and In His Name, and it's already done. When we pray, we must pray with a purpose, and with full assurance that our prayers will be heard, and answered. Prayer is a form of worship, so we must do it with passion, and as often as we feel the need, because He's always longing to hear from us. We learn today, from the first verse of scripture, "Pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting." (1 Tim 2:8), so we shouldn't hesitate to go to God for anything, at anytime, or anywhere. Remember, Jesus said: “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." (Matt 10:32-3) If you're ever feeling an uneasiness in your spirit, take a few minutes and pray to God for clarity, right then and there, and trust Him for an the answer. If you're experiencing pain and heartache, go to Him in pray, right where you're standing. If a friend asks you to pray with them, or for them, take the initiative and pray wherever you are. When something good happens too you, be adamant about thanking God immediately, no matter who's listening. Yet and still, always take out your personal time for worship as well, often and consistently. Worship in your car, at church, or in the comfort of your own home. I remember being in Hawaii, and the Executive Chef, whom I never had a "real" conversation with, commented on my "level of Faith", and I was surprised because I was unconsciously worshipping God at work, and everyone around me took notice. There are times when the devil would put fear and doubt in my mind, but my relationship with the Holy Spirit has become much better than my relationship with the enemy. Just on a side note, if you don't have a relationship with God, then you do have a relationship with the enemy, because he's actively using you for his own purpose. Jesus said: He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. (Luke 11:23) Prayer is the number one means of communication with God, and the one and only way that He'll be able to grant all of our wants and needs. Sure He knows these things already, but He requires fellowship and worship, which also falls under the ultimate commandment "love the Lord your God with all your heart". Keep in mind the components of prayer are to first acknowledge God (Father God...), then thank Him, make your supplications known, confess your sins and ask for forgiveness, and then end by including Jesus (In the Name of Jesus, Amen). You can do this in any order you’d like, and can tell Him whatever's on your heart, ask for whatever you need, and He'll be there listening, with an open heart, no matter what. Just make sure you always pray in Jesus’ name, because that stamp, sign, seal, and delivers your prayers. If you haven't accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior then that's the first and most important prayer. Follow the format, and ask Jesus to be Lord and Savior of your life; if you need help please let me know, because I love you and want to see you in Heaven. My favorite verse today is: Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

It's Mother's day weekend, a time to give thanks to all mothers. Although I'm not officially a mother, I know the plight of moms everywhere. Motherhood is a privilege, given by God, to protect, nurture, guide, and give total care to His children. That deserves to be celebrated! Cherish your mom, or the person who played that role in your life, and thank them, and thank God for them. Some of us are fortunate enough to have several mother figures, but most of us only get one, so cherish her, and tell her you love her this weekend. I'd like to wish each mother (or mother figure), a happy Mother's Day! Enjoy your weekend, and be blessed family.

Today's scriptures are about trusting in the Lord in times of calamity. The world has experienced some vast catastrophes, and I’ve witnessed a few in my adult life. We've had the 9-11 terrorist attack, gulf wars, middle eastern wars, Hurricane Katrina, Tsunamis, devastating earth quakes in Haiti, South America, China, just to name a few, and it seems like it just keeps getting worst. However, when men and women of God come forth, to assure other believers that God allowed these things, because of punishment of sin, there's this great uproar. Let's make sure that we're clear on this, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever more, so everything that's happening now, is no different from the numerous stories found in the Old Testament of the bible. There were great prophets including Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, and Samuel, just to name a few, who gave active accounts of great wars and calamity due to disobedience and spiritual warfare. In my opinion, the entire world, especially our culture, is in a terrible spiritual state. The religions are split greater than ever before, and there are hundreds of false prophets. People are defiling themselves and children. The lands are polluted, and resources are vastly depleting. We've turned into a technology driven world, and things are moving so fast, that we forget to slow down and spend time with God. The enemy is running rampant, which shows in everything around us. In American culture, you turn on the television and see people, who were once role models, blatantly defiling themselves, through explicit songs, movies, and television programs. Marriages are falling apart at the seams, and drugs, alcohol, adultery and fornication is not only glorified, but also promoted. Looking at all of these things, why do you think the earth is deteriorating right under our feet? Jesus said: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many. But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:5-8) God is a God of righteousness, love, peace, and salvation; however, He's still a God to fear, if we continuously disobey His commandments. Eventually, He'll say enough is enough. All of these "natural disasters" have reasons behind them, but our main concern is not to try and figure out why, and try to avoid the next one, but it's time to get our relationship right with Christ. We cannot walk this earth, day by day, in fear, because that's not what God intended for us. If you know that you've accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and believe with all your heart that you are saved, then you have nothing else to worry about. The world could be crumbling around you, and all you have to do is pray for deliverance, and God will see you through (Psalms 91 is a great resource to help strengthen you in times of fear). I'm going to leave you with the warning from Jesus, it's written: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!' " (Mark 13:32-37 NIV) Wow, Jesus ended with such a powerful word, "watch!” I love that. What will be will be, and you're in charge of your own destiny. God has destroyed this entire earth before, but He vowed not to do it again. However, this time, it's us who are destroying it, little by little, piece by piece. God gave us warning signs, so that we could be free of worry or sin, and endure the brunt of the storms. Most importantly, so that we could inherit our "promised land", when it's all over. Don't stop living your life because of fear, but start living your life for Christ. Just as we heard from the story of Jonah the other day, sometimes it only takes one person to warn others about the destruction ahead, so that they could be redeemed. Don't forget, be ready, or you will be destroyed with all of the others. I don't say that as a threat, but as warning to those of you who are "teetering" with your faith, and are "still deciding" what you want to believe. Take a look around you, and notice, that you don't have as much time as you think you do. Take a few moments and take the God Quiz today. My favorite verse today is: He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting the Lord. (Psalms 112:7)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

Today's scriptures are about God's mercy, which brings righteousness and truth. Have you ever heard the saying "the truth will set you free"? What do you think that means? It's always been said that one lie leads to another, and the next lie has to be bigger, to cover the last lie, and it always spirals out of control. When you're trapped in a lie, it becomes a great burden, so it's just easier to tell the truth, and deal with the consequences. That's the same principle when it comes to sin. One sin leads to the next, and it becomes a trap that you cannot get out of, and then a burden that weighs heavy on your heart, especially in the life of the believer. Eventually you'll be a slave to the flesh, and will do whatever it takes to make it happy, to escape the eternal pain it brings. I know this feeling first hand, because I've been there. I used to live a life of an unsaved person, because I was in pain. I surrounded myself with sinners, and was heavily influenced by the "world", yet on the inside I never wanted to live that type of life. My soul was in so much turmoil, that I got caught up in that web of trying to break the cycle of using one sin to cover up the next. I was saved at a very young age, and baptized on my 15th birthday, so I had the Holy Spirit in my heart. He always made His presence known, but I chose to ignore Him. It wasn't until I found out the truth about God that I began to allow Him to turn my life around. When I realized how gracious and merciful my God is, I wanted nothing more than to please Him, and do right by Him. There's always redemption in Christ, and it doesn't matter how long you've been a sinner, or what type of sin you've committed, there's forgiveness, due to His mercy, and ability to create righteousness within you. The blood of Jesus cleanses you from all unrighteousness, so count it all joy! All God needs from you is your confession, which is the whole truth of your sin, and then ask for forgiveness. Once you do that, and repent, He'll know that you're ready to move forward, and will often times deliver you from the burden of that sin, so you won’t have to battle with it. He knows your heart, and knows full well if you're truthful about that repentance, and because of His mercy He'll always forgive and forget. God is a God of peace and love, and will do whatever it takes to keep you there. He knows that we'll be much better stewards when we have that peace in our heart, so He'll instill it within us, but it's ultimately up to us to choose Him. If there's one thing I hope will come out of me sharing my testimony with you, is that it will help you avoid half of the heartache and pain I endured. Had I only known how much God loves me, I could've made different and better choices, and maybe I would've come out of my wilderness a little sooner. However, I know God used all of my trials as stepping-stones to victory. Once I knew and accepted the truth, it did indeed set me free. That's the wonderful thing about Jesus, and studying His life and His teachings, because He explains things so richly, yet keeps it simple to understand. He gives you this, "it is what it is", type of truth. He's not only told us how to live by truth and righteousness, but He showed us, in everything He did. So even if you don’t understand some of His parables, pay attention to His demeanor and conduct. Nothing was more important to Him than His relationship with the Father, and His love for the people. That was His whole life, and He truly did something that we could never do, nor are expected to. His love is our perfection. He gives us one key piece right here: "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” (Mark 10:15) Little children are innocent and sweet, and are constantly learning, and seeking answers to life, while still relying on their parents or caregivers to provide their every need. They experience honest humility in just being them, and without some type of guidance, they'd be lost. Does that sound familiar? The truth is that God gave us His Son Jesus to teach us how to go back to being "Little Children" in Spirit, by truly depending on Him. He opened Himself up to us, by His grace, and offers freedom through Christ. We now have the freedom to go to Him whenever, and for whatever, in the Name of Jesus. We've been let off of the hook, and no longer have to try to be righteous or perfect all by ourselves, because it will never happen. We're offered strength, peace, and happiness in and through all things, and will never have to worry about bearing the weight of the world again. Allow His truth to set you free today. Jesus is waiting, ready and willing, to give you freedom, what are you waiting for? Say that prayer today! My favorite verse today is: God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. (2 Corinthians 5:19)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Today’s scriptures are about conquering worry with faith. I don’t know one person who doesn’t worry about something, at one time or another; it’s a natural thing to do in the flesh. At the same time, worry shows a lack of faith in God. The only thing that overcomes worry is trust, and that is true when it comes to everything. In a relationship, if you don’t trust your spouse, you’re going to worry about them being faithful. That lack of trust comes from a past failure, mistake, or a breakdown in communication. The same goes for your relationship with your children, because you know they’re growing, and you can’t always trust them to do things that are above their maturity level, so you end up worrying about them. It will come a time where you’ll have to trust them, so simply pray, let go, and trust God to care for them. No relationship will work without trust, and that’s especially true in our relationship with our Heavenly Father. God asks us to stay close to Him, by praying without ceasing, reading His Word, and meditating on it. If we’re doing these things, we have nothing to worry about, because we’re building a strong relationship with Him. His Holy Spirit works within us to teach us the things we should know, in order to compete God’s will. He also helps us pray, it’s written: Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27) Doesn’t this all sound so simple? Especially since we hear it every day when we read our devotionals, or every Sunday when we go to church. Those who hunger for God will be blessed beyond imagination. There’s no need to want for anything, because God promised to grant our every need, as well as some wants and desire. Yet stress is the leading cause of sickness, disease, and even death. My mom and grandmother had this saying, “you’re gonna worry me to death”, and in all actuality, that is such a true statement. I can truly testify to that, because stress, depression, and sickness, all had a strong hold on me, just a few years ago. It wasn’t until I truly surrendered my life to God, that He delivered me from that. There’s a section in the Sermon on the Mount, which Jesus preached about worry. I was drawn to this section, because worry ruled my life. I used to worry from the time I woke up in the morning, until the time I laid down at night. I couldn’t sleep, because as soon as I closed my eyes, thoughts started swirling around in my head. I was thinking, “How am I going to do this?”, “who’s going to take care of that?”, “what if I do this?”, “where is this going to take me?”, “why did I do that?”, and this went on and on, until my peace was completely gone. All I could do was open my bible and read, and most nights prayed until I fell asleep, and the Holy Spirit always led me right back here, so I’m going to leave you with this:

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature (or one hour to his life)?
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble
. (Matthew 6:24-32)

Now, if God makes the flowers beautiful, and they’re thrown out tomorrow, how much more will He do for you? If He makes sure that the birds eat, and have homes, what more will He provide for you? I wasn’t going to share this entire passage, but I know that someone needed to read it from the Word of God. This passage changed my life, and I hope it does the same for you. Have faith in God, simply because He loves you, and will never let you fall. Thank Him every day, because even when it seems like He isn’t there, He working on your behalf. Ask Him for everything that you want, need or desire, and if you have faith, it’s yours, period. He won’t ever give you anything that will cause you more worry, anger or pain, but He will allow certain things, in order to reach out to you. Don’t take my word for it; you have it from the mouth of Jesus Christ himself. He’s the key to strengthening your faith, because through Him, all blessings flow. Start praying right now, and ask God for the answers through Christ, cast your cares upon Him, and leave them there. Believe me as long as you’re faithful in seeking Him, He’s faithful in answering. Don’t forget about the God quiz, it may shed some light for you. My favorite verses today are: O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. (Psalms 34:9-10)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

Today's scriptures are about being perfect in the Lord. Okay, so I know you’re already asking yourself, “How could God ask us to be perfect, when we were taught that nobody’s perfect, but Jesus Christ?”, and that is a fair question to ask. Sin will always be around, and each man, in the flesh, is subjected to it. Hence the sacrifice of a blemish free, spotless Lamb, to atone for the sins of all. When Jesus died on the cross, He took on the weight of sin, for all mankind. When He was resurrected, and ascended into Heaven to be with God, He blessed us with the Holy Spirit. Since then, when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we’re baptized with His Holy Spirit, which in turns gives us the ability to be righteous, perfect, or sin free. How many times have you heard me, or other people, explain this? I’m sure it’s been many, but do you truly understand it? If I say to you today, that you can be perfect, just as Jesus was, would you believe me? God expects us to be perfect, but not on our own strength, because the flesh is weak, and easily swayed to sin. However, we’re made perfect by the blood of Christ, and it’s only by Him that we can live perfected, each day of our life. It’s the Word of God, which was manifested into flesh that gives us the ability to be perfect. It’s written: The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. (Psalm 19:7-9) You notice that everything points to “the LORD”? God never expected us to be anything but human, but when He gets a hold of us, He’s expecting perfection, because that’s who He is, and we’re made in His likeness. All He needs from us is our faith and trust. Paul wrote just that, in his letter to the Philippians; he told them “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6), and that was true then, now, and forever. We know God, and if He’s ever commanded us to do something, He’s always going to give us the resources to get it done. No one will ever give a first grader a calculus exam, and expect them to pass it with an A+. Now there are some exceptionally gifted children, that may be able to pull that off, but they’re few and far between. Abraham, Paul, Peter, David, Solomon, James [and I could go on and on], were all regular human beings like you and me, but God chose to use them in extraordinary ways, because of their Faith. James pointed that out to us in his epistle, and it’s written: Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”And he was called the friend of God. (James 2:21-23) Wow! God is perfect, and He commands us to be perfect, so the only way for us to obey that command is to seek it from Him. We’re never going to be without sin, but perfection comes from our Faith. If He knows we’re doing our best to love Him with all of our heart and soul, that’s perfect enough for Him. There was only one Jesus, or one Abraham, but I was created to be the perfect Saundra, and you to be the perfect you, in Christ. Don’t ever forget that. If you don’t know who Christ is, that’s your first step for perfection. Pray and ask Him to be Lord of your life today. Feel free to take the God quiz, and see where you are in your faith. My favorite verse today is: Ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:20)

Daily Devotional Dday & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying the end of another workweek. TGIF! God has placed some wonderful people in my life, and I'm so happy that I'm open to receive them. Remember to always cherish your friends and loved ones, because some are Angels placed in your life for a reason. Never take anyone for granted, because you just never know who he or she is, or what part they’ll play in your life. It's written: Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. (Heb. 13:2) Have a wonderful weekend family, and be blessed!

Today's scriptures are about the keeping the Word of God. The key to maintaining righteousness, and staying in the will of God, is having the correct focus. When everything we do is done with God in mind, we're sure to keep His Word. God’s Holy Spirit guides us exactly where we need to go, and He lives in every believer. We each have a different journey in Christ, and He will make sure we get there, when we keep His word. He warns us to stay humble, because every blessing comes from the Lord. There are some people who get really "high and mighty", as they mature in their Faith walk. They’re appointed to leadership roles, or anointed with great gifts, and sometimes start to go ahead of God in life. Then there’s the "baby" Christian, who refuses to grow up. They pray and ask God for things, that aren't in His will, because they don't have a personal relationship with Him. These people may stay in the "wilderness", because of their ignorance. As I've grown in my faith, I've been in these stages, and can potentially go back, if I’m not careful. I can testify to the fact that it's hard to follow the will of God perfectly, because temptation is too great. We just can't do it in the natural, because perfection is unattainable in the flesh. I'm at a point in my Faith walk, where God isn't as lenient with me. When I know what He's asked me to do, and don't to it, I'm punished immediately. It was only because of this frequent chastisement, that I finally prayed and asked God to give me the wisdom to be able to know His will for my life, and follow it. He simply said, "stay with me", and at that moment, I was immediately convicted, because it's always been that simple. I believe this is the answer to Christians overcoming bondage. When I stay in the presence of the Lord, by keeping my focus on Him at all times, I'm truly blessed with that peace that surpasses all understanding. I know me, and so I have to I surrender to the Lord each day, because I'm in this constant battle with my flesh. There are still days that my flesh may win, but those days are few and far between, but were more frequent just a year, or even a month ago. The worst thing we can do is think that we got it, because as we know, our relationship with God is like a plant that needs to be continually watered. Jesus said: "Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown." (Matt 13:18-23) Which of these are you, and how do you handle the Word of God when it's sown in your heart? God actually said to me, "stay with Me", what does that mean to you? When He said that to me, I immediately saw, and felt, times where I've been down or depressed. Right after He showed me some of those the moments, He showed me the moments before them. In each scenario I saw where I became disconnected from Him. I saw where I should've been doing one thing, but I was doing the other, and again He said, "stay with Me". The only way to live life in victory, everyday, is to humbly follow the Word of God. To do that, is to actively, and purposely seek Him. In everything you do, pray and ask for clarity. If you're lost as to what you're supposed to be doing, pray and ask for wisdom. If you’ve fallen short, confess and repent. These things are all a part of loving God with all of your heart, showing Him that you respect Him, and trust His judgment. Remember, “an idle mind is the devil’s playground”, so continually seek God. Read His living Word, and live by it. Jesus Christ is the glue that holds this bond together, so without Him, you're lost. Pray and ask Him to be Lord of your life today! My favorite verse today is: If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. (John 14:23)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about the priceless gift of our salvation. There are but so many things that money could by, and even the richest man has his share of trials and tribulation. Actually the more money a person has, usually equals to the more problems and responsibilities they're faced with. The things that matter the most in life, are the things that money can't buy, like love, joy, peace, and happiness, because those things come from God. Most importantly, you can't buy salvation. The blood of the Lamb was shed for all who believe in Him. Jesus was given for our sins, simply because God loves us, nothing more or nothing less. He didn't give up His life to persuade us to do anything in return, but love Him. He didn't take on the burden of our sins, and then sent us a bill, but He wiped our slate clean. Jesus was more than willing, and able, to atone for our sins, and He did without complaining. I'm sure, as He was hanging on that cross, He thought about us, and questioned our worthiness. He outright asked God "why have you forsaken me?" (Matt. 27:46) I believe that in that moment His human side kicked in. Right after He said that, it's written that Jesus "yielded up His spirit" (Matt. 27:50). Even down to His last breath, which He suffered just for us, He had the ability to take Himself down from the cross. He could’ve ended His suffering right there, and punished all who plotted to kill Him, but instead, He remained obedient to the will of God, and gave up His life. What if Jesus had disobeyed God, and went into hiding like Jonah? What if He succumbed to the enemy’s temptations that day in the wilderness? What if God continued to allow us to suffer, and never offered Himself as a sacrifice for our sins? After all, He did give us the ability to choose right from wrong. The process of reaping what we sow has been in existence since the creation of mankind. There are numerous "what if" questions we could ask about the past, and the relevance of Jesus’ Crucifixion, but the main thing we need to know is that it was done out of love. God has forgiven and forgotten our sins, through Christ, and for that, we can do nothing but praise and worship Him. Worthy is the Lamb of God... Hallelujah! I've been looking for answers to so many things in my life for years, but the answers were always within me. Paul wrote: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Gal. 5:1) The sacrifice of of Christ frees us from bondage, and allows us to be whole again. There's no better reward than that. I'm forever indebted to Jesus, because He's given up His life for me. He'll never force us to love Him, but He simply gives us the opportunity. Paul went on to say: And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith... From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. (Gal. 6:9-10, 17) Okay, one more "what if" question, and I want you to really think about this one... What if Jesus grew weary before He completed His task? I don't know the answer to that, but I thank God that He did. We live with the power of Christ, by His blood, and His marks are also inside of each of us. Take that authority and live in victory, because it comes at price that could only be repaid by love. If you haven't already, take the God quiz today. Jesus’ blood was shed for each of us, not just for the seemingly "perfect" people, but all who come. My favorite verses today are: Ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, ... but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: ... manifest in these last times for you who by him do believe in God ... that your faith and hope might be in God. (1 Peter 1:18-21)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Last night I was up pretty late, with a lot on my mind. Life, in general, has its moments where everything just hits you all at once, and I had one of those moments. When I started to think about what I've endured, I was a little overwhelmed, but that's how the enemy targets us. He tries to get us caught up in our tribulation, instead of focusing on our blessings. I've been attempting to read the Sermon on the Mount, in it's entirety, since I wrote about it a few days ago, so I picked up the bible and started with Matthew chapter 5, and the first 16 verses gave me so much strength. Jesus understood the plights of His followers, so He gave us something to cling to, in those times when it feels like the weight of the world is on our shoulders. If you've been feeling that way lately, I highly recommend it. Getting the answers to life, from the mouth of Jesus, is the best way. Have a wonderful day, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about the certainty, and the rewards of death. One of my favorite quotes is, "I'd rather live life as if there is a God, and die and find out that there isn't, rather than to live life as if there isn't a God, and die and find out there is". To some, that may not make much sense, but to those of us who are saved, we understand all too well. There are so many different religions and beliefs in this world, that it's hard not to question who God is, or even if we're serving the "right God". Who's to say that Buddha or Allah isn't the way to Heaven, and not Jesus Christ? Nonetheless, we all know that we will eventually die, but before then, we must know exactly what we believe, and why. The one thing I know for sure is that Jesus is the truth, the light, and the way, and no man can go to Father, unless through the Son. Jesus proves Himself true in my life everyday, and through Him I have victory over death. Not only do I have victory over death, but I also have life in Heaven forevermore, and that's been made possible simply by my belief in Christ. Jesus laid down His life, to give me everlasting life in Heaven. The Bible gives us accounts of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. There are stories written about Him, appearing to many people, after His resurrection. He did this, just to ensure that several people could testify to His life after death. Right before His ascension into Heaven, He appeared to a group of people, which included all eleven of His disciples, and they were all terrified. He asked them, "Why are you troubled?” and even showed them the wounds in His hands and feet, from being nailed to the cross. Even after that, they still didn't believe that it was He, so He sat and ate with them. It's written: Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:36-49) After all of this, Jesus blessed them, and was carried up into Heaven. This is where He still sits today, awaiting our return to Him. This may seem like a fascinating fictional tale, but everything written in the Word of God is the truth. Jesus did live as a human being, and still lives in Heaven, so that we can one day get there. For Jesus’ believers, death is victory. It's the end of imperfection, and the beginning of perfection. It's the end of sickness, disease, hurts, and pains, and the beginning of everlasting joy. The Prophet Isaiah predicted this, before Jesus was born, and it's written: He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; for the LORD has spoken. And it will be said in that day: “ Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the LORD; We have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.” (Isa. 25:8-9) Whenever you think of death, you should think of the rewards you'll face, so that you won't fear the natural process of life. Some people spend a lot of time being so afraid of death, that they don't allow themselves to live. All of the fears and phobias need to stop today, because God intended us to enjoy our life, here and in Heaven. He's blessed us with Salvation through Christ, because He no longer wanted to see us suffer, at the fate of our own hands. I challenge you today to live! Live as if today is your last, and rejoice in the fact that if it is, you'll spend all of Eternity in the presence of the Lord. Share this with as many people as you can, so that you will reunite with your loved ones in Heaven. There's so much more to know about Heaven, but salvation is the greatest, yet easiest gift to receive. All you need to do is believe that Christ lived, died, and was resurrected for your sins. Pray and confess that you're a sinner, and repent of your sins. Finally, ask Jesus to come into your life as Lord and Savior. Once you do this, your name will be written in the Lambs book of life, so when Jesus returns, or you're faced with physical death, you’ll have absolutely nothing to worry about. Make sure you strengthen your relationship with God along the way, because Jesus suffered and died to give you that privilege. My favorite verse today is: To live is Christ, and to die is gain. (Philippians 1:21)
