Today's scriptures are about the effect of evil, and separating ourselves from it. Did you know that we're to hate evil? Today's scriptures start off with the first part of this proverb: The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. (Prov. 8:13) You notice that it doesn't say evil people, but evil ways. We're all created by God, and have the option to choose good and evil, and choosing evil isn't who we are, but the way that we live, or the attitudes that we have. God doesn't tolerate evil, so those of us who fear Him should do our best to avoid it. This is all a part of growth, and it get's easier over time, but it's a conscious choice that we each have to make.
A little evil in the heart could go a long way, and escalate into many sins. Once it's instilled in us, the only way to stop it from spreading is to remove ourselves from evil situations, change our way of thinking, and surround ourselves with positive people who give positive energy. One evil thought could be like a small spark in the forest, which turns into a raging forest fire; it could quickly spread out of control. Any evil act starts with an evil thought.
Let’s think of the evil act of Jesus' crucifixion? An entire group of people voted to kill a man that did nothing but love everyone, all because of one evil plot. However, Jesus never condemned any of those people, but He prayed for them. It's also important for us to understand, and forgive all who attempts to harm us, because they have taken on an evil spirit. When Jesus taught us to pray, He taught us to ask to be delivered from evil, because He knows that we are susceptible to evil spirits. If we aren't carefully trying to remove ourselves from evil, it could become a big part of our lives. There's a popular saying, "misery loves company", and evil is the same way. It thrives in numbers; it's like this living breathing organism that latches on to anything that it could. However, we must take on the attitude of the Lord and live above it. If we're covered in the blood, and put on the Armor of God, we're protected from it.
Be careful of the company you keep. I understand that you're saved, sanctified, and Holy, walking with the Lord, but you're also open to evil. We aren't supposed to separate ourselves from the lost, because our job is to help save them. Jesus said, before His ascended into Heaven, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation" (Mark 16:15). Notice He didn't say some, but He said all, nor did He say preach to only "good people". Peter told the people of Thessalonica, in his final instructions to them: Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. (1 Thess. 5:14-15)
We only have one life to live, and we're being judged for everything that we do. The enemy is very smart and crafty, and will use anything or anyone to persuade us to fall into evil. Once our heart is exposed, it begins to permeate, and be seen in our walk, and in our talk. After awhile, if not properly dealt with, it becomes who we are. As I'm writing this message about evil, that negative energy has crept up on me a number of times, and has attempted changed my entire attitude, within a matter of minutes. I noticed it just this moment, however, I will not allow it to fester. I had to stop and say a quick prayer, and ask God to help me see things more clearly, and to deliver me from this evil Spirit. I cast my cares upon the Lord, and I'm leaving them there.
This is a constant battle for all believers, because having evil inside of us, conflicts with the wonderful Spiritual righteousness that has taken up permanent residence in our heart. Our Holy Spirit will make sure that we notice these evil spirits, and allow us to separate ourselves from them. It's the same with everything around us; we can sense evil, because the Holy Spirit warns us when it's near. Always take heed of that "gut feeling", or that "small still voice", because it’s the truth.
The answer to everything in life could be found in the Holy Bible. Evil doesn't have to be an issue for followers of Christ, because we've already overcome it, the day that we were saved. We have victory over the world and the enemy, through Christ, so all we have to do is live in victory. Walk, speak, and live victoriously in Christ! At the first sign of evil, pray, rebuke it, and change your surroundings. Evil leads to sin, and sin leads to death. I don't know about you, but I want the abundant life that Jesus came to give me, and I've already won! If you are a believer, you too have already won; go to the Word of God to learn how to live as a winner. If you don't know Jesus, then evil is apart of this world, and you'll fall victim to it, more often that you care to. I can't count how many people who are trying very hard to "live right" and "do good", but they keep falling. Well if that's you, you're missing the only way to righteousness, Jesus Christ! To get to know Him, take the God Quiz today! My favorite verse today is: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. (Hebrews 12:15)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY WENESDAY!
I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this beautiful "hump day". I'm doing well, but truly looking forward to the weekend. I have to start packing, which is the worst part of moving. I'm not looking forward to getting settled into a new place, but then again I am looking forward to the change. This means a new life, with new things, and it's refreshing to think about it. At the same time it's a little frightening, because letting go of the past isn't an easy thing to do. However, a wise man once said, if we're so busy gripping the past, our hands aren't open to receive the new blessings God has in store for us. The most valuable lesson I'm receiving through this life transition is stepping out on faith. In the story of Jesus walking on the sea, He called Peter out of the boat. When Peter stepped out, he was able to walk on water as well, because he was focused on Jesus, but the minute he lost focus, he began to sink. I feel like Jesus is calling me out of the comfort of the “boat” to step out on faith, so I’m making an effort to consciously focus on Him, in order to continue to exceed expectations, and walk on water. Lots of prayer and faith will make that possible; I'm so grateful for the Love of God! Enjoy the remainder of your day, and be blessed family.
Today's scriptures are about the power of what comes out of the mouth. I don't think most of us are aware of the power of our tongue. The words we speak are could either bring life or death. It's written: Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. (Prov. 12:18) As children of God, we must be extra careful about what we say, because we posses the power of Christ, through His Name. The things that we speak are so important, that God gave us His Holy Spirit, to ensure that we're speaking life. It doesn't matter if we're talking to Him, our friends, spouse, children, or family members, because each word we use holds power.
Jesus came to setup a new covenant between God and us. He not only offered Salvation, but He taught us the way to get closer to God. He helped us understand the old laws, and taught us new more important laws. Watching what we say, and how we conduct ourselves, is a very important lesson that He taught from His actions and the way He lived His life. We must be careful not to get so wrapped up in the logistics, that we miss the plain and simple truths. There are many people that will condemn you for eating certain foods like pork, or shellfish, because it’s been said to be unclean, but those same people are quick curse their fellow brother. We must understand the Love of God, so that we could better follow His laws. Jesus said: "Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.” (Matt 15:17-18)
We are all followers of Christ, and called to share His Gospel, which in turn makes us disciples. We're required to first learn His Word, apply it to our own life, and then teach it. The words we speak to a lost man or woman, could lead them to eternal life, or push them closer to death. We have the awesome responsibility to watch the words we speak at all times, and in all circumstances. People are always watching us because we’re “peculiar people”, that's just the nature of the world we live in. We have the "herd" mentality, so we're very impressionable. Just imagine that someone visited your church one Sunday, and for some reason they came up to you and asked you about the Lord. You tell them how much God loves them, and all about salvation, and even share your personal testimony. What you said might have persuaded them to come back next Sunday, and even accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. That same day, this lost person saw you at the grocery store, and you are in line yelling and cursing the cashier because she messed up your total. You're conducting yourself as if you never knew God. What impression have you just made on that lost person? The last thing Jesus wants us to do is to make Him out to seem like a hypocrite, because we’re representing Him.
We are human, and are susceptible to mistakes, but God asks us to try our best to be righteous. He asks us to walk in righteousness, which requires us to do what's necessary to allow Him to change our heart, because righteousness comes from within. If we're angry, unwilling to forgive our neighbors, and/or afraid to love, it causes evil and bitterness to fester in our heart. When evil is in our heart, it will come out of our mouth. We must learn how to rely on God for all things, and we will notice a change from the inside out. Its written: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7) When our heart is right, the words that we speak will show it.
I can't tell you enough, how important it is to start your day in prayer, and with the Word of God, because that helps shape your entire day. If you pray and ask God to guide your path, you'll speak life every time you open your mouth. It's also important to keep open dialogue with the people closest to you. When you disagree talk it out, with positive words, to come to a positive solution. When you see someone looking sad, say something to brighten their day, or give them a warm smile, that helps more than you know.
If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior and you're reading this, let me be the first to tell you that God loves you. It doesn’t matter what you've done or how you've done it. Salvation doesn't cost you a thing, and doesn't require you to change your life. Although when you say that prayer, your life will automatically change, because Jesus has taken up residency in your heart. The Holy Spirit will begin a good work in you, and will continue until you go on to meet the Lord face to face. Until then relax, and allow God to work, the prayer asking Him to be your Lord and Savior is the only thing you need to worry about today. My favorite verse today is: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY THURSDAY!
How was your first day of Lent? I know some people failed, and some persevered, but it's just day two, so dust yourself off and continue on the journey to grow closer to the Lord. Here's something that was placed on my heart that I wanted to share with you: “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."(Matt 6:16-18) The Spirit reminded me that whatever commitment I make to God is between me and Him, that's what makes it so special. The Black History Month quote of the day is: "The past is a ghost, the future a dream. All we ever have is now." (~Bill Cosby) Enjoy the remainder of your day, and be blessed family!
Today's scriptures are about hope in the Lord in times of trouble. It wasn't until I grew in my Faith walk did I start to notice certain things around me. When we're growing up in the world and learning new things, we get accustomed to its ways. Depending upon the way we're raised, we either learn to become immune to the evil ways of the world, or we rise above it. However, because we’re created with an inquisitive nature, we're going to test the waters, and experience several difficulties. Overall, the world is filled with a lot of evil and wicked things, and has been that way from the beginning of time. Take the story of the brothers Cain and Abel; one killed the other because of jealousy (Gen. 4). Then we also know of the Israelites who were freed from slavery, and lead to the Promised Land, by Moses. This nation of people fell into so much evil that they wondered in the wilderness for forty years, until they changed their ways. They were doing all types of ungodly acts, but God finally decided had mercy on them, and let them into the land promise to their people. Close to the end of the Israelites forty year journey, Moses wrote a song for this new generation, before his death. It was partly about the importance of praising God for the things of the past, to allow them to learn from the ways of their parents. He went on to remind them of the evil done, and the reasons they had to suffer so much. Although these people lost their way, and openly and intently disobeyed God, He still stayed with them, and continued to appoint great leaders like Moses and Joshua to get them back on the right path. After Moses recited this song to the people he left them with this: "Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess." (Deut 32:46-47 NIV) Everything happens for a reason, so we that are living in the year 2010 can take from this message great and wonderful things. We also learn from many who've come after Moses and the Israelites, but the most important thing we learn is that we're all vulnerable to evil, violence, sin, and failures, no man is above it. As long as we're in the flesh, wickedness will affect us in some type of way, yet we're still expect to maintain an upright life. We're expected to try our best to do right by God, and show others His ways. At the same time, we're not expected to do it alone, because God is always with us through our many periods of “wilderness”, and “Promised Lands”. He gives us free will, but sometimes we're so enthralled with our “worldly” life that we miss His calling. Now you may be asking yourself, "if evil is inevitable then way even bother with trying to be good"? Well the answer to that question lies in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He came in the flesh and was tempted in every way that we are, yet remained untouched evil. Through Him we have hope, because He offers us strength, righteousness, love, and most importantly Salvation. When we're covered with His the blood, we’re lead by the Spirit, and the love of God keeps us moving forward, and not constantly going in circles. That is a reason to rejoice! Through Jesus we're being renewed from the inside out, and when we nurture that relationship, and work towards growth in Him, we'll learn how to separate ourselves from evil. Remember it’s written, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). The only way to do that is through the Jesus Christ, and right now He’s calling you, accept Him today. My favorite verses today are: For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. (Isaiah 54:7-8)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY TUESDAY!
I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying another terrific Tuesday. February is Black History month, and it’s set aside to recognize the lives of important and influential black men in woman in the United States. There are so many who've played major roles in allowing us to have the freedom we have today. I found an article with 20 famous quotes by some of those who pioneered the way, and I'll share some with you throughout the month. Here’s a nice one: "Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise. I rise. I rise." (-Maya Angelou) We've come a long way, so be proud of who you are, and of your heritage, and be sure to do your best to live a life that would make your ancestors proud, after all, they put in a lot of blood sweat and tears to get you here (that goes for all races and creeds). Enjoy the rest of your day, and be blessed family!
Today's scriptures are about deliverance from evil and temptation. Did you know that it's not totally up to you to change your evil ways? You are not alone in your struggles with the flesh, because we all have weaknesses. Jesus said it best when He taught us the way to pray. Even He was surrounded and attacked by evil on a daily basis, but of course He always prevailed, and because of Him, so could we. I'm sure most of you know the King James Version of the Lord’s Prayer, but I’ll share it anyway. It's written: ...Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matt 6:9-13) When Jesus gave this "Sermon on the Mount", He’d experienced life, so He knew the ways of the Spirit, and the ways of the flesh. He gives us everything we need to live in righteousness in this one prayer. We learn that we're to always acknowledge God for who He is, as well as the fact that it's His will and not ours, to Him ask for His assistance daily, ask for forgiveness and forgive, and finally ask for deliverance from temptation and evil. These are the five most important keys to life, and evil and temptation are the biggest speed bumps we’ll encounter. The only way to overcome evil is to submit to God's will, and focus on Him and Him alone. God knows it's easier said than done, which is yet another reason for His saving grace. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves." (Matt. 10:16) We have to be aware of the world around us, but not allow it to harden our hearts. I notice as I grow in my Faith walk that I've become more sensitive to human life and suffering, yet cunningly aware of the evil that lurks. These skills are acquired from God, and His wisdom comes from above. Evil is a pandemic like the Swine flu it could spread like wildfires. We must be careful of our surroundings, our choice of entertainment, and the people we choose to associate with, because the devil will use anything and anyone to promote evil in our life. As we become familiar with our Holy Spirit, and strengthen our communication with Him [which includes attentively listening to His guidance], our decrement becomes sharper. Paul taught us in 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, that we must glorify God in body and Spirit. It’s written: Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (vs. 19-20) Our minds work like computers, everything that we see and hear on a daily basis is data entered, and we can only put out, what’s been put in. The only way to obtain true righteousness is to seek the right knowledge and understanding through the Holy Bible, prayer, and fellowship with other Christians. Jesus taught us to be aware of the evil around us, and He stressed the fact that we should pray for deliverance, because no man is above it. Without Jesus you're out here alone, with no amour to protect you from the evils of the world, and once again the only way to be delivered is through the Blood of Jesus. If you don't know Him as Lord and Savior, please go to Him in prayer, and He's sure to answer. What's your other alternative? I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying another terrific Tuesday. February is Black History month, and it’s set aside to recognize the lives of important and influential black men in woman in the United States. There are so many who've played major roles in allowing us to have the freedom we have today. I found an article with 20 famous quotes by some of those who pioneered the way, and I'll share some with you throughout the month. Here’s a nice one: "Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise. I rise. I rise." (-Maya Angelou) We've come a long way, so be proud of who you are, and of your heritage, and be sure to do your best to live a life that would make your ancestors proud, after all, they put in a lot of blood sweat and tears to get you here (that goes for all races and creeds). Today's scriptures are about deliverance from evil and temptation. Did you know that it's not totally up to you to change your evil ways? You are not alone in your struggles with the flesh, because we all have weaknesses. Jesus said it best when He taught us the way to pray. Even He was surrounded and attacked by evil on a daily basis, but of course He always prevailed, and because of Him, so could we. I'm sure most of you know the King James Version of the Lord’s Prayer, but I’ll share it anyway. It's written: ...Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matt 6:9-13) When Jesus gave this "Sermon on the Mount", He’d experienced life, so He knew the ways of the Spirit, and the ways of the flesh. Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying another "hump day". I'm doing well, but still feeling little aches and pains, and require your prayer. I'm working on resting, and drinking warm tea and Theraflu, that should fix me right up in no time. My niece Shamara's birthday is today, and she'll be turning 10 years old! I'm getting old, because I remember when she was born, and I was only 21 years old, but it seemed like only yesterday. It's funny how time flies, my goodness. She's such a wonderful young lady, and is growing up so fast, she's going to be tall like her Auntie. She wants to go Ice Skating for her birthday, so I'm going to attempt to take her this weekend. The problem is, none of us know how to ice skate, we could barely roller skate, and so this will be interesting to say the least. I'll dress in layers to try to cushion the blows, other than that, it should be fun. Have a wonderful day!
Today's scriptures are about the dangers of riches. In Matthew 19:23-24: Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Are up familiar with these verses of scripture? As baby Spirit, I couldn't truly grasp the meaning of this scripture. However, as years passed, and I started to grow, I paid more attention to the few verses before these, which says the rich man came to Jesus and asked Him how he could be saved, and Jesus' answer to him was to sell everything he had and follow Him. The rich man went away very sad, because he wasn't prepared to part with his earthly wealth. Yesterday I also referenced 1 Timothy 6:10: For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. It doesn't say that money is evil, but the love of money is. God wants us to put Him first in our lives, but if we have everything that money could buy on this earth, we could misconstrue that with inner peace. Money can do some strange and destructive things to people, because we tend to think that we're larger than life. Reality TV shows are the new craze in America, so we see it all the time when we watch celebrities on these shows. Most of them can go anywhere and do anything they want, at any given moment; people worship them because of their fame. Think about the life of Michael Jackson. This talented man was blessed with a wonderful gift of music and dance, but the media drove him mad. He had so many pressures on him where he allegedly started to abuse drugs, which ultimately killed him, and he had virtually everything he could ever want. I'm not sure what really went on with Michael Jackson, or any one else who takes this tragic fate, but I do know that when we get large sums of money, we tend to depend less on God. It's written in the bible that God will bless the poor, and those who mourn, because they are more likely to turn to God, during trying times. Whereas, when a person has great financial resources, they're more likely to turn to the world when they're hurting. I can attest to that in my own personal life, because when things are going good for me, I have a little money in the bank, and all of my bills are paid, I tend to become lenient with my prayer time. I start to "have fun", and sometimes I've had too much fun where I missed out on my time with God. If I have extra money, when I get upset I could shop or take a vacation, instead of falling on my knees in prayer. If we're not careful, money can become an idol, and it's written in Exodus 20:5-6: “For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments." From the outside looking in, being rich and/or famous seems like a glamorous life, but at the end of the day, everyone has his or her own problems. God requires our all, and cannot stand a double-minded person (James 4:8). We cannot worship two masters, it's either Him or the world, and if given an ultimatum to choose money or Him, which would you choose? I posed this question a few years ago, and at the time, I would honestly say that that would be a very hard decision. Now that I've grown in my walk, hands down, I would choose Jesus over anything or anyone on this earth. So let's straighten out this myth today, God loves ALL mankind; it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor. He's simply commanded us to "Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and Soul”, and you cannot do that if you allow the love of money to rule your life. There's nothing wrong with aspiring to have a fruitful and and abundant life, but if strengthening the Kingdom of God isn't first in everything you do, then there's a good chance those riches could evoke lots of evil in your life. If Jesus came to you today, and said give everything you own away to the poor and follow me, would you do it? If you are rich, take a moment and truly think about this. If you're not rich, but aspiring to be rich, then what would you do with your riches? If you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you're very poor in Spirit, and you will not inherit the Kingdom of God. All you need to do is say a prayer to God, asking Jesus to come into your heart as Lord and Savior. After you do this, you will inherit the Kingdom of God, and you're rich in Spirit, for all Eternity, no matter what your bank account says. My favorite verses today are: Thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods and have need of nothing: and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore and repent. (Revelations 3:17-19)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY THURSDAY!
I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying another beautiful Friday-eve. I'm doing well, a little sleepy, but I'll survive. I'm looking forward to the weekend, and getting back into the kitchen. I haven't really cooked any "real food" since the menu tasting. I'm still finalizing my menu for Sunday, but I'm going to have some of the favorites like chicken empanadas and the stuffed burgers. I may even have some crab balls with the avocado relish, if I could find a great deal on crabmeat. Then we'll have the grilled chicken and spare ribs as usual, with the usual sides, such as macaroni salad, baked beans, grilled corn on the cob, and a few cold trays. Yummy! I'm getting excited just thinking about it, I can't wait until Sunday. I also want to wish all of the September babies a Happy Birthday. Have a wonderful day!
Today's scriptures are about the leaven of evil. What is Leaven? I see that word used a lot in the King James Version of the bible, and it's defined: An element, influence, or agent that works subtly to lighten, enliven, or modify a whole. I was first introduced to this word in Bake Shop class in Culinary School. Leaven is usually yeast or baking soda; something that is used to make your bread or pastries rise through fermentation. I noticed that you only need a tiny bit of leaven to make a huge loaf of bread. It may be the ingredient you'd use the least amount of in your recipe, but it has the largest impact. Today's scriptures are referring to evil as the leaven in the bread of life. I read somewhere that a pebble dropped in the ocean could start a Tsunami, and the flutter of the wings of a butterfly could start a tornado. That always stood out to me, because it's actually true, especially when it comes to evil. Where I grew up, something as small as a dirty look could end up getting a person killed. The devil uses the tactic of placing one small evil thing in our heart or mind, and if we allow that evil to fester, it could turn into a huge thing. I've seen relationships and marriages breakup over things that start off so very small, so it's very important for us to learn the ways of God, and put Him first in your relationships. As you grow in your faith walk, you'll start to easily see these evil things as they arise. In some cases you'll start to feel an evil presence around you, and in those cases you must go to God in prayer immediately. If you're trying to live a righteous life, you must separate yourself from any form of evil. For example, most drug addicts start off with just trying a little bit at first, just to have a little fun, and because all of their friends were doing it. That one time tryout turns into losing your job, home, and family. We hear all the time that the flesh is weak, but sometimes that reality doesn't hit home until we're trying to pick up the pieces, or are tired of suffering the large consequences of surrendering to the flesh. Knowing the warning signs, and removing ourselves from certain situations can help us avoid falling victim to evil. When you're trying to walk upright the devil is going to always find a way to push your buttons. He'll place people and things in our lives, to get us to stray. Studying the word of God, and establishing a consistent prayer life will help us better be able to heed the warnings from our Holy Spirit. Evil must be removed from the inside out. Start by confessing that you're a sinner, and asking Jesus to come into your heart as Lord and Savior. Next, forgive those who trespass against you (Mat. 6:12). Once you do those things, you will receive and keep the light of the Lord at all times. Attempt to refrain from sin, and remove yourself from situations that will cause anger, because that is the most common leaven used by the devil. Some things can't be avoided, but once you mature in your Spirit, and tap into that inner peace, you'll find that evil won't be so much of an issue. We'll always have that person who cuts us off in traffic, insults us, or makes some sort of prejudice judgment against us, but as children of God, we must stay focused on Him and completing His will. Never forget, that praying for those people will stop evil right in it's tracks. My favorite verses today are: Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (1 Corinthians 5:6-8 NKJV)
