HAPPY FRIDAY!
Today's scriptures are about boasting in our weaknesses, because by faith, God will make us strong. We shouldn’t base the love of God upon the circumstances in our life, because God has purpose and plans for us. Just as He’s created each of us with gifts and talents, He’s also given us weaknesses. These weaknesses are put into place to not only keep us close to God, but to also allow Him to show His power and strength through us. Have you noticed that most of the people God used to do great things in the stories found in the bible were the most unlikely people? Most of them where what the world considered weak, but they all had very strong faith. This reminds me of the story of David and Goliath. There was a time when King Saul reigned over Israel, but he disobeyed the word of God and the Kingdom was about to be stripped from him. At this time, God spoke to the Prophet Samuel, and he delivered the news to Saul. It’s written: Samuel said to him, "The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to one of your neighbors—to one better than you. He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a man, that he should change his mind." (1 Sam. 15:28) Take note of how Samuel described this person. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if God described you in that way?
God then commanded Samuel to go to Bethlehem to visit a man named Jesse, because one of Jesse’s sons was going to be the new King. Samuel went, and when he met Jesse’s son Elaib he said "Surely the LORD's anointed stands here before the LORD." (1 Sam. 16:6) It goes on to say: But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (16:7) Samuel then met seven other sons of Jesse, but he knew that the Lord hadn’t chosen either of them. He asked if there was another, and the last of Jesse’s sons, the youngest, was David. David wasn’t even considered to be “interviewed by Samuel, but was left outside to tend to the sheep. It’s written: So he sent and had him brought in. He was ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, "Rise and anoint him; he is the one." (16:12). Why do you think, out of all of the sons, God chose the one lest likely to go; the one who was seemingly the weakest? I think it’s because the greater testimony could come out of using David, instead of the older, wiser, or stronger of the sons; and he had the most humbled heart. Samuel then anointed David with the Spirit of the Lord, and he went on to work with King Saul, as his right hand man, helping Saul in any way that he could. Mostly by praying with him.
The Philistines threatened to attack Israel, while they were still under Saul’s command. They had a giant named Goliath in their army, He was bigger than anyone they’d ever seen before; they referred to him as “a champion” in the New King James version of the bible. No one had come close to defeating Goliath, so he challenged Saul to a one on one fight with anyone in his army. He said, “if this man kills me, we will be your slaves” (17:9). The soldiers were very afraid, because they couldn’t think of anyone who could possibly defeat him.
These were the people of God; His chosen nation, so He wasn’t going to let them fall. At this moment of great weakness, whom do you think they turned too? There are times in our life when we’re going to face “giants”, but it’s all in God’s perfect plan. He allows these giants to help challenge our faith. Through these challenges, we’re strengthened.
The Philistines gave Saul some time to find a suitable warrior to fight Goliath, but the time was drawing near. Saul called to David, who wasn’t even a soldier in the Army, to come and pray with him. When David came to Saul, Goliath showed up. Everyone else ran away in fear, but David, the person lest likely to step up, was the only one who volunteered for the challenge. No matter how much people laughed at or mocked him, he stood firm on His faith in God. Even King Saul tried to talk him out of it, but he said: The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." (17:37) When Saul heard that, he gave him his blessings. I’m sure you know how this ends; David defeated this giant with a rock and a slingshot, how great and mighty is our God! David went on to be one of God’s greatest and most beloved Kings of Israel, as well as a great Psalmist. He was loved so much because He trusted God with all His heart, and never changed his mind. No matter how many battles he faced, he overcame them with faith, not by his on strength. He wasn’t perfect by any means, and fell short, but God knew his heart, just as He knows ours. Remember, stand on the love of God, and not on your own strength, because that’s the only way you’ll defeat the giants in your life. Most weaknesses are giants, because we cannot overcome them without God. Jesus is the way to this victory, so get to know Him today. Take the God Quiz right now! Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY THURSDAY!
Today's scriptures are about having self-control. I’ve learned to adopt this concept: “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” (Matt 7:12 NAS) Jesus gave us this command to help us be better individuals. We should see ourselves as a reflection of Christ, because we are created in His image. Jesus was a Man who walked uprightly, and was kind to everyone He encountered, not because He had to, but because He loved everyone, and wanted to show God through His actions. Nothing He did was in vain, and He took pride in knowing that just by being obedient, He was literally saving all mankind from destruction and eternal death. We should take on that same burden, knowing that our actions could easily bring life or death to people. If we’re claiming to be Christians, we’re taking on the responsibilities of Christ. We’re disciples, and not only are we required to love each other, but we’re required to share His love, and teach His commandments. However, how could we adequately teach something if we aren’t practicing it? It’s written: It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned. (Hebrews 6:4-8 NIV) Wow, Paul laid it all out for us right here, and in an “as a matter of fact” way. What Paul is saying is that it is impossible, once you’ve received the Holy Spirit, and have experienced the love of God, for you to live like a person who isn’t saved. If you do, it’s like crucifying Jesus all over again. Imagine how bad Jesus must feel when He’s in Heaven fighting for you, and you disgrace His Name? It is so important that we practice self-control in our Faith walk, because we are not only adding sins to our soul, but we’re pretty much worthless to the Kingdom of God. God has cleansed us with the blood of His only Son, to sow His love into us, and when we aren’t reaping, then we’re in jeopardy of falling by the wayside. It’s important to seek the Kingdom of God, commit to submitting to His will, and try our best to be obedient. When we’re doing those things, we’re sure to be wonderful representatives of Christ. We must “practice what we preach”, because we can do more harm to people’s Spiritual wellbeing by being dishonest, than anything else. We cannot live by the “do as I say, not as I do” mentally. We must lead by example, and there are so many lost sheep that are in need of leadership. They’re looking to those of us who confess Christ as Lord as their guide. How could I try to convince you to only eat McDonalds, because it’s the healthiest choice, but you only see me eat Burger King? We cannot convince these Spiritually lost and confused people that God is the only way to go, and condemn them for the lifestyles that they lead, if we lead those same lifestyles as well. We may not lead them as often, or as blatant as them, but we still lead them. This goes right back to the “treat people the way you want to be treated” moral value. You expect to be able to trust your teachers, or the people who are supposed to be showing you the love of God, so you must truly live like Christ, so that people will also trust you. Give yourself completely to God, and never look back. If you can do as Jesus commanded the “Rich Man”, and give up all that you have, [meaning the sinful and wicked ways you’ve become accustomed to], and follow Him, you’ll forever be in God’s good graces. As humans we’re comfortable with what we know, and when we’re asked to step out of our comfort zone, and trust something new and foreign, it’s sometimes hard to do. However, God is asking you to do your best to control your flesh, by changing your surroundings, praying without ceasing, and yearning for His Word. This allows your light to shine brighter with each day, and that light will help lead more and more people home to Christ. Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
Today’s scriptures are about being cleansed of our iniquities. Look around you, and then look at yourself in the mirror. Do you notice the iniquities of the world, let alone the iniquities inside of you? I could go on and on about the state of the world, and how the moral values have faded, and integrity is at its lowest point, but we don’t have much time for that. Sometimes it isn’t good to dwell on the negative, but we should acknowledge it, and try to find a solution. The world’s sins start on the inside of each individual. We must be held accountable for our own sins, because that’s the only thing that we can really control. I just thank God for Grace and mercy, because without His favor, where would we be? It’s hard to imagine, but things could always get worst. The irony of the state of sin, and the commotion it causes in our heart, is that it doesn’t have to be that way. From the day that Jesus died on the cross, our sins were exonerated. Jesus offered us living water, so that our sins could be easily washed away. Jesus said: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 6:37-38) Upon acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior, He’s instilled in our heart, and His living waters flows within us. His blood makes that possible, and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. We simply need to ask for forgiveness, and it’s granted. Notice He said, “if any thirsts, let him come to Me”, so it doesn’t matter what you’ve done, when, where, or why you’ve done it, you will be forgiven. All that’s needed is at that very moment, go to Him, by praying to God in His Name, confessing your sins, and asking for forgiveness. Now you may be thinking, “if it’s that easy, why should I stop sinning?” and I have the answer to that. Jesus’ death saves us from the eternal consequences of sin, not the moral consequences. Remember, you reap what you sow, more than you sow. Sin causes an overwhelming sense of discontent and anguish in your heart. Most sin will bring pleasure for the moment, but will ultimately lead to destruction. I started off today referencing the sins of the world, so I’m going to acknowledge some of the consequences. The earth is essentially deteriorating at the core, because of our blatant disregard and abuse of the earth and it’s natural resources. It seems like each day there’s a new form of cancer, and life threatening and incurable diseases like the AIDS virus are spreading like wildfires. The family value system is broken (for lack of a better word), because we don’t value the sanctity of marriage, and we neither respect our precious bodies nor ourselves. Need I say more? These are all the affects of sins, so yes, you can pray and ask for forgiveness and still get into Heaven, but your life is worth much more than that. While you’re here, you’re expected to strengthen your personal relationship with God, as well as the body of Christ. You’re meant to share your light, and the living water that’s in your heart, with unbelievers and the people who’s lacking. You’re meant to spread God’s love across ALL nations (Matt 28:19). How can you efficiently do that if you covered in sin? It’s written: Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “ I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go. Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea… “ There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.” (Isa. 48:17-18, 22) Commit that last verse to memory; it’s so good, I’ll write it again, “There is no peace for the wicked”! Did He say no salvation? No, He said no peace, and next to salvation, peace is the most precious gift we could ever receive. God will willingly cleanse you from all unrighteousness whenever you ask Him, because He loves you that much. However, He does require repentance in order to restore your peace. Jesus is the source of all love, peace, joy, and happiness, because through Him living water flows. If you haven’t confessed Him as Lord and Savior, then you should stop what you’re doing, and do it right now. It’s a quick, yet sincere prayer, asking God to forgive you of your sins, and inviting Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior. If you haven’t said this prayer yet, and feel like something’s missing in your life, then that’s the only answer. Allow Him to restore your peace. My favorite verse today is: I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. (Jeremiah 33:8)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY TUESDAY!
God is so good, and I’m finally getting to a point in my faith walk, where I’m learning to completely listen to Him. The thing that I was missing was to see Him in everything. Nothing is by chance, and there are plenty of times where we say, “Oh, it’s a coincidence that I was just thinking about this, and here it is”, some people call that Déjà vu, which is French for already seen. However, I know its God, because He speaks to us in so many different ways. We must slow down and intently listen for His voice, and watch for signs and visions.
Today, a friend and I were discussing Job chapter 7, and I wrote a rather large e-mail about how I interpreted Jobs frustration, and how it was necessary for him to go to God and voice his aggravation. After I’d proof read the e-mail, I thought, this looks like a sermon, or could be today’s devotional, but I sent it, and thought nothing more of it. Then, after I was done with my work, I attempted to access bible.com to get the scriptures for today, and the website was down. As well as, two other friends contacted me, and in both conversations we ended up discussing great loss, and how much it affects and weighs us down, and it brought me right back to my earlier discussion about Job 7. Do you think all of this is coincidence or Déjà vu? Well I doubt it very seriously, so I’m going to share my discussion with you, in an unfamiliar format, but hopefully it helps answer some questions you may have.
Read Job 7
I often feel like Job felt in this chapter of scripture; he was truly fed up! From the way I read it, Job got to a "wait a minute!" point in his life. I'm sure He was thinking, "I've done nothing but try my best to do right, so why am I being punished like this?"... I think we all have or will get to points like these in our Faith walk. God allows us to be tested and tried for some of the same reasons He tested Job, and just like Job, it's okay to question Him. It's okay to ask God, "What's going on?" because that's a sign of our love for Him. We should always come to Him seeking wisdom, and wanting to learn life's lessons.
I was touched most by verses 17-19: "What is man that you make so much of him, that you give him so much attention, that you examine him every morning and test him every moment? Will you never look away from me, or let me alone even for an instant?" I can remember times when I felt exactly like this, but we need God's attention, because even His affliction is meant to work together for our good. So we should be grateful that he examines us every morning, and test us every moment, but it's the times where it feels like He isn't there that we should worry. It's all refinement, and allows us to build up our trust in Him, helps us rely on Him to sustain us, and show us a new way to righteousness. Remember, we just learned yesterday, that Jesus said we should take up our cross “daily”, and follow Him.
I found a few of my answer in the following chapters: “Behold, this is the joy of His way, And out of the earth others will grow. Behold, God will not cast away the blameless, Nor will He uphold the evildoers. He will yet fill your mouth with laughing, and your lips with rejoicing. Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the dwelling place of the wicked will come to nothing.” (Job 8:19-22) Trouble don't last always, and when you feel like you're down and can't get back up, know that God can and will use your situation to help others grow. Rejoice through your sorrow, because eventually He'll fill your mouth with laughing. Eventually you'll see the light, but as always, when going through trials you never foresee the end, until God gives reveals the small light at the end of the tunnel.
In my opinion, Job couldn't hold it anymore, and he couldn't take the pain, nor rejoice in it any longer. He needed answers, so instead of him turning his back on God, and surrendering to the enemy's attacks, he confronted God about it. I admire him for that, and ultimately learned that when I'm stressed out, instead of doing evil or succumbing to evil, it's best to just make my supplications known to God. He'd rather us do that, than the alternative. The answers aren’t found in drugs, alcohol, sex, empty relationships, food, violence, or any of the like.
If you don’t know Jesus as Lord and Savior, that’s the only place to start. See, unlike Job, we have the saving grace of Jesus Christ to see us through. With Jesus comes God’s Holy Spirit, so we can stay connected with Him at all times. I urge you to start building a bond with God through Christ, and allow Him to fill you with so much joy, that when you are being tested you’ll have the strength to get you through, still praising God! Pray and ask Jesus to be Lord of your life today!

God is so good, and I’m finally getting to a point in my faith walk, where I’m learning to completely listen to Him. The thing that I was missing was to see Him in everything. Nothing is by chance, and there are plenty of times where we say, “Oh, it’s a coincidence that I was just thinking about this, and here it is”, some people call that Déjà vu, which is French for already seen. However, I know its God, because He speaks to us in so many different ways. We must slow down and intently listen for His voice, and watch for signs and visions.
Today, a friend and I were discussing Job chapter 7, and I wrote a rather large e-mail about how I interpreted Jobs frustration, and how it was necessary for him to go to God and voice his aggravation. After I’d proof read the e-mail, I thought, this looks like a sermon, or could be today’s devotional, but I sent it, and thought nothing more of it. Then, after I was done with my work, I attempted to access bible.com to get the scriptures for today, and the website was down. As well as, two other friends contacted me, and in both conversations we ended up discussing great loss, and how much it affects and weighs us down, and it brought me right back to my earlier discussion about Job 7. Do you think all of this is coincidence or Déjà vu? Well I doubt it very seriously, so I’m going to share my discussion with you, in an unfamiliar format, but hopefully it helps answer some questions you may have.

I often feel like Job felt in this chapter of scripture; he was truly fed up! From the way I read it, Job got to a "wait a minute!" point in his life. I'm sure He was thinking, "I've done nothing but try my best to do right, so why am I being punished like this?"... I think we all have or will get to points like these in our Faith walk. God allows us to be tested and tried for some of the same reasons He tested Job, and just like Job, it's okay to question Him. It's okay to ask God, "What's going on?" because that's a sign of our love for Him. We should always come to Him seeking wisdom, and wanting to learn life's lessons.
I was touched most by verses 17-19: "What is man that you make so much of him, that you give him so much attention, that you examine him every morning and test him every moment? Will you never look away from me, or let me alone even for an instant?" I can remember times when I felt exactly like this, but we need God's attention, because even His affliction is meant to work together for our good. So we should be grateful that he examines us every morning, and test us every moment, but it's the times where it feels like He isn't there that we should worry. It's all refinement, and allows us to build up our trust in Him, helps us rely on Him to sustain us, and show us a new way to righteousness. Remember, we just learned yesterday, that Jesus said we should take up our cross “daily”, and follow Him.
I found a few of my answer in the following chapters: “Behold, this is the joy of His way, And out of the earth others will grow. Behold, God will not cast away the blameless, Nor will He uphold the evildoers. He will yet fill your mouth with laughing, and your lips with rejoicing. Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the dwelling place of the wicked will come to nothing.” (Job 8:19-22) Trouble don't last always, and when you feel like you're down and can't get back up, know that God can and will use your situation to help others grow. Rejoice through your sorrow, because eventually He'll fill your mouth with laughing. Eventually you'll see the light, but as always, when going through trials you never foresee the end, until God gives reveals the small light at the end of the tunnel.
In my opinion, Job couldn't hold it anymore, and he couldn't take the pain, nor rejoice in it any longer. He needed answers, so instead of him turning his back on God, and surrendering to the enemy's attacks, he confronted God about it. Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY MONDAY!
A highlight of the weekend was the play I saw entitled "The Child Support Man" on Saturday, at the Soul Factory in Forestville, MD. This church is beyond contemporary, but they are real on every level. I like the way they relate to the lost sheep, by allowing them to understand that being lost is only okay, if you're trying to find your way home. There's no condemnation at this church, but simply an open arms policy. I love that concept, and I truly enjoyed the play, because it touched on so many serious issues about relationships, broken homes, the Family Judicial system, and the affects broken homes have on children. I highly recommend you see it, I know it’ll be playing again this coming weekend, and the tickets are reasonably priced (check out their website http://www.thesoulfactory.com/). Today's scriptures are about walking in the ways of God. Everyone who looks at you sees God. Did you know that you are a representative of Him; His love, His will, His mercy, His grace, His artistic abilities, and so much more! You must wear that crown with honor, respect, and integrity, because the salvation of your fellow man depends on it. There is always someone watching you, because you’re peculiar people. You ever notice a person who’s in love, especially new love? They have this glow about them, and they’re smiling from the inside out. Just imagine how you radiate when you’re in love with God. There’s this certain glow that you get, and people notice. When you build a strong relationship with God by spending time with Him, and learning His ways, He begins to fill you with His spirit of joy, and it gives you this sparkle even a lost man can’t ignore. People should feel Him when they’re in your presence, hear Him when you speak, and see Him when they look into your eyes [which are said to be the windows to your soul]. Knowing this, you must be careful how you carry yourself, because you can be an asset or a hindrance to the Kingdom. There’s always a lost sheep trying to find its way home, and we have the power to either guide them home, or lead them astray. The only thing worse than being ignorant, is being misinformed.
When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we’re making a vow to God. We’re ultimately vowing to surrender to Him, and allow Him to be Lord of our life. When we follow through with that vow, He begins to work on us from the inside, by immediately filling us with the His Holy Spirit. However, the Holy Spirit is a “Gentleman”, and will allow us to ultimately make our own choices, so in all essence we must surrender. God loves us, and He simply asks that we treat people the way we want to be treated, respect Him and ourselves, and ultimately love Him and everyone around us. So when you’re walking down the street, shopping in the mall, having a conversation, or anything else, people should know that you’re a child of God, by the way you interact. Just as when Jesus walked through the land, the people knew that there was something different about Him, although some didn’t know exactly what, but they knew He was special. They could tell, just by the way He interacted and spoke, exactly who He was, “the Son of the Most High God”. Jesus said: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.” (Luke 9:23-24). Please don’t use God’s grace, including His generous gift of forgiveness, as justification to conform to the world. I know firsthand how easy that could be. If you love God, and are interested in knowing how to take the first steps to being conformed into Righteousness, take the God quiz today. My favorite verse today is: The God of peace, ... make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 13:20-21)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY THURSDAY!
Today's scriptures are about praying openly, honestly, and by faith. We were created to fellowship and worship the Lord. The word worship is found in almost 200 verses in the New King James version of the Bible, but what does the word mean? It's defined by Merriam-Webster as: reverence offered a divine being or supernatural power... Now this leads us to finding out what the word "reverence" means; it's defined: honor or respect felt or shown. With this newfound knowledge, isn't it safe to say that prayer is a part of worshipping God? Of course it is, because it's a sign of respect when we acknowledge Him in all things. I was listening to Dr. Stanley’s radio show, entitled "In Jesus' Name" (it can be found in the audio archives on his website), and he said one thing that went off in my head like a light bulb. He asked a simple question, similar to this: "Don't you know that you're praying to the all powerful, all knowing, wonderful Ruler of the Universe?” When he said that, it was like I hit the jackpot in Las Vegas, I heard "ding, ding, ding, ding, ding". It was such an epiphany to me because I never thought of it like that. Don't get me wrong, I know God, and I love Him with all of my heart and soul, but when I'm praying, it's like I'm speaking to my father, or a best friend who loves and cares for me unconditionally. It's almost like if you were best friends with President Obama, and you talk to him everyday, you're not looking at it as if he's "the leader of the free world", but you see him just as your best friend Barack. That's how comfortable I've gotten in my relationship with God, but sometimes I have to step back and remind myself that God is the creator of everything, yet He loves me so much that all the hairs on my head are numbered. Through Jesus Christ I can do all things, because He taught us to make our supplications known to God, with thanksgiving, faith, and In His Name, and it's already done. When we pray, we must pray with a purpose, and with full assurance that our prayers will be heard, and answered. Prayer is a form of worship, so we must do it with passion, and as often as we feel the need, because He's always longing to hear from us. We learn today, from the first verse of scripture, "Pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting." (1 Tim 2:8), so we shouldn't hesitate to go to God for anything, at anytime, or anywhere. Remember, Jesus said: “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." (Matt 10:32-3) If you're ever feeling an uneasiness in your spirit, take a few minutes and pray to God for clarity, right then and there, and trust Him for an the answer. If you're experiencing pain and heartache, go to Him in pray, right where you're standing. If a friend asks you to pray with them, or for them, take the initiative and pray wherever you are. When something good happens too you, be adamant about thanking God immediately, no matter who's listening. Yet and still, always take out your personal time for worship as well, often and consistently. Worship in your car, at church, or in the comfort of your own home. I remember being in Hawaii, and the Executive Chef, whom I never had a "real" conversation with, commented on my "level of Faith", and I was surprised because I was unconsciously worshipping God at work, and everyone around me took notice. There are times when the devil would put fear and doubt in my mind, but my relationship with the Holy Spirit has become much better than my relationship with the enemy. Just on a side note, if you don't have a relationship with God, then you do have a relationship with the enemy, because he's actively using you for his own purpose. Jesus said: He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. (Luke 11:23) Prayer is the number one means of communication with God, and the one and only way that He'll be able to grant all of our wants and needs. Sure He knows these things already, but He requires fellowship and worship, which also falls under the ultimate commandment "love the Lord your God with all your heart". Keep in mind the components of prayer are to first acknowledge God (Father God...), then thank Him, make your supplications known, confess your sins and ask for forgiveness, and then end by including Jesus (In the Name of Jesus, Amen). You can do this in any order you’d like, and can tell Him whatever's on your heart, ask for whatever you need, and He'll be there listening, with an open heart, no matter what. Just make sure you always pray in Jesus’ name, because that stamp, sign, seal, and delivers your prayers. If you haven't accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior then that's the first and most important prayer. Follow the format, and ask Jesus to be Lord and Savior of your life; if you need help please let me know, because I love you and want to see you in Heaven. My favorite verse today is: Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Daily Devotional Day & Night
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
Today's scriptures are about loving one another. Love is one of my favorite subjects; I just love love! God is the epitome of Love. Everything He is and does is based upon His love for us. We're made in His likeness so we have the ability to love just as He loves. He's working in us to create righteousness and perfection, in which love is a catalyst. Jesus said: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another." (John 13:34), but there are many Christians who don't know how to do just that. Now how do you think that makes God feel? The fact is if you can't learn to love other people, how could you really know how to love God? Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 13, about the greatest gifts we've received from God, but also how everyone who professes to be a Child of God doesn't know how to truly Love, and the dangers of that. He ends this chapter with this: And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor. 13:13) Some of the reasons people have trouble with love is because of past circumstances, and being unforgiving. There are some people who want to openly love others, but they're afraid, because they’ve been hurt. This reminds me of the movie "Precious", where this young lady faced every horrible scenario of abuse that you could come up with, and this abuse came from her parents, the people who were supposed to love her unconditionally. There's a scene in the movie where her teacher told her that she loved her, and she said something like, "I don't want you to love me, because love beat me and raped me, love is a horrible thing". This was the part of the movie where I broke down in tears, because I know and have experienced real love, and I couldn’t imagine ever feeling that way. There are numerous people that don't think that they deserve real love, because they they’ve never really received it from anyone. What they don’t know is that unconditional love comes from God, and when you trust Him with your whole heart, He’ll show you. I think that's why God commanded us to love our neighbor, because some people can only gauge love by the amount of love they receive from others. When we love the people we come in contact with, we’re showing them the love of God. After all, love conquers all, and there's nothing that could tear it down. The people who said they loved you but really didn’t, were being used by the enemy, to attempt to scar you, and build fear in your heart. The only other thing that blocks our ability to love unconditionally is an unforgiving heart. I learned a long time ago, that forgiveness is for you. When you hold on to past hurts and pains, they begin to fester in your heart, and will ultimately make you bitter. If you're not willing to forgive people for their trespasses against you, how do you expect to be forgiven by God? You have to let that go, because when bitterness and resentment get's into your soul, it could block your ability to love with an open heart, then you’re disobeying God's commandment. I know you're wondering, especially if you've been hurt over and over in your life, how to let go and love again. I've been in that place before, and a part of me still is, but the one thing I hold on to is hope. From the moment I wake up in the morning I can feel God's presence and His love. Its almost like He fills me with love, and I can't help but praise Him. Because of that, I could look into the eyes of a known enemy, or someone who intends to do wrong by me, and still see the love in their heart. How did I get to this point? I just let go and let God. I prayed and asked Him to help me learn how to forgive quickly and love freely, and He answered. Whenever I'm struggling with anger, hurt or resentment, I pray to God and ask Him to see me through. Paul wrote: ...rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. (Romans 5:2-5) There you have it right there! Open your heart to God, allow Him to pour His love into you, and then He'll begin that work within you. Remember, He didn't give us these commandments to set us up for failure, but He's equipped us with every tool we'll need to obey them. All we have to do is reach out, and open up. I promise, if you forgive and ask for forgiveness, and let go of the past, you'll be filled with so much love that it'll overwhelm you. Love is a gift, but so are some trials, because they help mold you into the person God wants you to be. I'll leave you with this last question: Which takes more energy, to love, or to hate? Jesus loves you unconditionally, so take on His energy and love freely, and leave the consequences up to God. He's given you the Holy Spirit to help you decided who, what, when, where, and how to love. First trust Jesus to love you, and open your heart to Him. Allow Him to be Lord of your life today. Today's scriptures are about loving one another. Love is one of my favorite subjects; I just love love! God is the epitome of Love. Everything He is and does is based upon His love for us. We're made in His likeness so we have the ability to love just as He loves. He's working in us to create righteousness and perfection, in which love is a catalyst. Jesus said: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another." (John 13:34), but there are many Christians who don't know how to do just that. Now how do you think that makes God feel? The fact is if you can't learn to love other people, how could you really know how to love God? Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 13, about the greatest gifts we've received from God, but also how everyone who professes to be a Child of God doesn't know how to truly Love, and the dangers of that. He ends this chapter with this: And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor. 13:13) Some of the reasons people have trouble with love is because of past circumstances, and being unforgiving. There are some people who want to openly love others, but they're afraid, because they’ve been hurt. This reminds me of the movie "Precious", where this young lady faced every horrible scenario of abuse that you could come up with, and this abuse came from her parents, the people who were supposed to love her unconditionally. There's a scene in the movie where her teacher told her that she loved her, and she said something like, "I don't want you to love me, because love beat me and raped me, love is a horrible thing". This was the part of the movie where I broke down in tears, because I know and have experienced real love, and I couldn’t imagine ever feeling that way. There are numerous people that don't think that they deserve real love, because they they’ve never really received it from anyone. What they don’t know is that unconditional love comes from God, and when you trust Him with your whole heart, He’ll show you. I think that's why God commanded us to love our neighbor, because some people can only gauge love by the amount of love they receive from others. When we love the people we come in contact with, we’re showing them the love of God. After all, love conquers all, and there's nothing that could tear it down. The people who said they loved you but really didn’t, were being used by the enemy, to attempt to scar you, and build fear in your heart. The only other thing that blocks our ability to love unconditionally is an unforgiving heart. I learned a long time ago, that forgiveness is for you. When you hold on to past hurts and pains, they begin to fester in your heart, and will ultimately make you bitter. If you're not willing to forgive people for their trespasses against you, how do you expect to be forgiven by God? You have to let that go, because when bitterness and resentment get's into your soul, it could block your ability to love with an open heart, then you’re disobeying God's commandment. I know you're wondering, especially if you've been hurt over and over in your life, how to let go and love again. I've been in that place before, and a part of me still is, but the one thing I hold on to is hope. From the moment I wake up in the morning I can feel God's presence and His love. Its almost like He fills me with love, and I can't help but praise Him. Because of that, I could look into the eyes of a known enemy, or someone who intends to do wrong by me, and still see the love in their heart. How did I get to this point? I just let go and let God. I prayed and asked Him to help me learn how to forgive quickly and love freely, and He answered. Whenever I'm struggling with anger, hurt or resentment, I pray to God and ask Him to see me through.
