Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WENESDAY!

I'm looking forward to celebrating the end of the Lenten season, and the resurrection of Christ. Jesus Lives... Hallelujah! Our Teacher, Rabbi, Priest, Brother, Friend, and Savior was killed many years ago, but was resurrected three days later, and now sits on a throne in Heaven, at the right hand of God our Father. Hallelujah! Through this week we're supposed to be reliving the week before Jesus’ death. Can you imagine what was going through His head, the day before His “Last Supper” gathering with His closest friends? Take some time to think about that, and research the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, which all records many details about this last week. I know how I’m feeling right now, waiting to have some of those things I’ve given up over the last forty days. To be so close to victory is harder than I imagined. Without Jesus we wouldn't have life, so it's worth it to find out who He was, and about His passion. Enjoy the remainder of your day, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about God supplying our every need. Think of Who God is, because we sometimes lose sight of that. Most of us have routines we follow, when it comes to our faith walk, but it should go way beyond that. Are you the Christian who says the same prayer when you wake up, before you eat, or go to bed? Do you read your bible the same every night? Do you go to church every Sunday, greet your friends, listen to the message, and go home doing the same things you've done, before you went in? I think most of us get into these habits and/or rituals in life, because we feel like Christianity is something that’s required, so we do it. Take Facebook, or other social networking websites, for example, there are numerous people that have "Christian", as their religion on their personal profile page, but nothing about them speaks that they're a follower of Christ. People are just being Christian for the Sake of being Christian, but it's written: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven." (Matt 7:21) We must build a relationship with God so that we can reap the fruits of righteousness. Yes, when we accept Jesus as Savior, we’re automatically “saved” no matter what, but don’t you want more out of life? God promises, throughout the bible, that He’ll provide all needs, catch us when we fall, lift us up when we're down, and give us everything that we ask in Jesus’ Name. We read these scriptures everyday, yet we're still in bondage, why? It's because we don't have a personal relationship with God. We don't see God as our "Father" in Heaven, even when we say it. Some of us can't understand how much He truly loves us, so we distance ourselves from Him, because of a lack of Faith. Our lack of Faith is due to our ignorance of who He is, and what He's about. God's love is so simple, that we make it complicated. The truth is just as simple as Jesus explains it: “...Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. (John 16:23-24) As well as how John explains in: Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. (1 John 3:21-23) I can list so many verses of scripture that promise the same things, but if you don't believe them, then they won't do you any good. When Jesus asked His disciples "who do you say that I am?" that was a defining moment in their relationship, because He needed them to understand what they were doing. We follow certain rules and regulations, without knowing why we're following them. You may look at your life and wonder, "if God says He'll supply our every need, then why am I suffering, doesn't He know that I'm in need". God is a God of Love, and requires that same action in return. Every promise He's made to us is there for redemption, because He's given us a choice. He loves us enough to offer us guidance through life, but it's up to us to follow His lead. He offers us wisdom, but we have to ask and seek it. He offers us blessings of all kinds, but we have to acknowledge them, and be able to manage a little before He blesses us with a lot. Do you notice a pattern here? The fact that God will give us everything we need, exactly when we needed it, should give us the peace we've been searching for, all our life. The pursuit of happiness is the life story of every human being, and the key lives right in our heart. We're in His presence every single day, and He waits for us to speak to Him. He wants to hear us laugh, and see us smile; yet He allows the tears and the pain, just to be able to keep us near. God sees our heart, not our sin, flaws, education level, credit score, or wealth, but our heart. He sees each of us as if we're the one and only person in the entire world. He wants nothing but the best for us, and that's why He pushes us through the trials and tribulations of life, in hopes that we can see in ourselves, what He sees in us, through the blood of Jesus. This is the God we serve, so never hesitate to talk to Him whenever you want, speak about Him to all of who's willing to listen, and dream about the day you'll get to meet Him face to face. Take that warm feeling that you have in your heart whenever you think of Him, and allow that to dictate your actions, prayers, and lifestyle. If you claim to be a Christian, know what that means, and live it everyday. Do your part, which is to love without fail, and God will do the rest. The first step to establishing an eternity long relationship with God lies in your Salvation through Christ. Take Dr. Stanley's God Quiz, and see where you stand. My favorite verse today is: The Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will be withheld from them that walk uprightly. (Psalms 84:11)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about meditating on God, His ways, His words, and His wisdom. Meditation is necessary to get through daily life. This is a necessity for each of us, and it gives us a chance to just listen and process God’s commandments. It allows us to review the different lessons of the day, and gain instructions for the future. Prayer and meditation goes hand and hand, you shouldn't have one without the other. Prayer is said to be a "Conversation" with God, but what is a conversation? The word conversation is defined: informal interchange of thoughts, information, etc., by spoken words. If prayer is having a conversation with God, then through this “interchange of thoughts”, we must give Him time to speak. He cannot do that, unless He has our undivided attention, and that's what meditation provides. There are stories in the bible, where He's gotten peoples attention through loud boisterous acts, and He still works that way, when need be. However, meditation is needed to maintain a healthy relationship on a daily basis. I'm a talker, as you can tell by the amount that I write everyday. If you think I type a lot, you should hear me speak, especially when I'm passionate about something. If you're anything like me, meditation can be hard, because we're constantly in deep thought about something, and/or constantly sharing those thoughts and ideas with God. It's hard to take a moment and just listen. That's why it's something that we must train ourselves to do. You can start by reading a verse or passage of scriptures, and asking God to speak to you, and reveal His wisdom through it. The act of meditation shows God that you love Him, and that you're seeking His instructions about life, because you truly want to live righteously. You're seeking His Kingdom and His wisdom, and allowing Him time to share His thoughts and love with you. Have you ever had a conversation with someone who never allows you to speak? Do you have that friend who's always asking for favors, but can't be counted on to do a favor for anyone else? Do you have a person in your life that takes you for granted? Well each day we go without meditating on the Word of God, that's exactly what we do to Him. How does that make you feel when it's done to you? I have to be honest, my life is busy, and I don't get much "quiet" time, before I go to bed at night, or when I wake up in the morning. However, I can find time to get on Facebook and catch up with old friends, or watch those TV shows or movies I missed during the week, but meditation sometimes takes a back burner. On the other hand, I use the time when I'm on my way to or from work, to just sit and drive quietly and listen to God. No radio, no talking, just listening to God. That's a good way to start, but I'm still busy watching the road, fussing at negligent drivers, or complaining about traffic, so that isn't totally what God is asking for. He's asking for 100% of me. Some people have prayer closets or prayer rooms they can go to alone and meditate. That's a wonderful option, because it's important to rid ourselves of any distractions, and just listen to God. It’s great to take time out to focus on His love and mercy, thank Him for His blessings, and ask for guidance. I can guarantee you that this will strengthen your relationship with God, and take your faith to another level, because it deepens your understanding of who He is. You're not always listening for a voice, or for this "burning bush" type of interaction, but you're enjoying the presence of God, and He'll fill your Spirit with everything you're looking for and more. We should end each day with God, starting with a prayer, confessing our sins, and sharing our joys and concerns. Then ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to your bible study, and take some time to study God's word. Lastly, take some time to just be in God's presence, through meditation. Some people meditate for an hour, some for a few minutes, but you do what's on your heart. You take as much time as you need, your Holy Spirit will lead the way. You can start off by committing to 5-10 straight minutes of just sitting in the quiet, and listening for God's still quiet voice. Do these until you form a habit, and it will come naturally from there. It's written: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. (Psalms 19:14) This is the attitude we should have in life, because God's love is all a part of His grace. He loves us without expecting anything but our love in return. His love never fades, and He'll never leave nor forsake us, so we should find meditation to be a privilege and not a chore. It's good to know that God wants our undivided attention, so He can bless us with the wisdom to claim the abundance that Jesus came to give. When I think of it that way, I can't wait to get home, and spend some quiet time alone with my Heavenly Father. I'm sure He has some wonderful News for me. If you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you cannot have that connection with God. He’s the only way to establish that close bond, so what are you waiting for? Pray and ask Jesus to be Lord of your life, and from there you can work on your relationship with God. My favorite verses today are: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (Psalm 1:1-2)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

As of yesterday, we've officially entered into Holy Week. This week represents the last week of Jesus' life on earth. Yesterday, my Pastor preached about the hope that the death and resurrection of Christ brings to our life. I try to watch the movie “Passion of Christ” every year around this time, to get a sense of what Jesus’ death was really like. This helps keep me centered, because I know He suffered all of that pain for me. This is the last week of the Lenten season, and I hope you've grown closer to Christ, because that's one the most important reasons for this forty-day journey. Jesus taught us how to have a stronger and deeper faith, as well as a trusting and open relationship with God. His death on the cross, over 2,000 yeas ago made that possible, and it's time for some self-examination. Jesus gave up His life for us, what have you given up for Him? Through this week, walk with Christ as He faces the end, and the beginning of His life. Yesterday, we celebrated his entrance into Jerusalem, which is called Palm Sunday. Maundy Thursday we celebrate the His last supper (day before death), Friday is "Good Friday" (crucifixion day), and Sunday is Easter (resurrection day!). There are many different ways to celebrate, and it's different with each denomination. Just know that Jesus' passion was love for all mankind, and that includes you. Have a wonderful day, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about receiving our Eternal resting place in Heaven. The one thing we can count on, upon our death, as believers of Christ, is a mansion in Heaven. Jesus said: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14:1-3) From the beginning of the creation of the world, God has called us to be His children, and when we accepted His calling on our life, we were given a permanent place in Heaven. Through Christ we are all Heaven bound, and that's a reason to rejoice! By faith we can accomplish anything on this earth, because Jesus has already conquered death, so there's nothing else holding us back from victory. When we were old sinful beings, we had everything to fear, because sin was the weight around our neck, which caused us to drown in the world of deceit, lies, envy, malice, addiction, and any other evil we can think of. When Jesus died on the cross He took on all sin, once He was resurrected, He was renewed and restored. When we choose to believe in Christ, we receive “salvation”, which is the restoration and renewal of our Spirit, and includes the security of our Eternity. Paul wrote: In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. (Eph. 1:11-14) We’re “joint heirs” of the Kingdom of God, so when Paul refers to our “inheritance”, he’s referring to the promise Jesus made long ago. As long as we believe, we’re going to receive our “purchased possession”. Jesus paid the price on the cross, and we’ve been signed, sealed, and delivered into the hands of God, by His blood. His Holy Word says that this is a “guarantee”, and cannot be removed. We’ve been redeemed, and when our time is up on this earth, we’re going to His glory. God loves us so much that He gave His one and only Son to die for our redemption. He loves us so much that He sacrificed Himself, so that we could live all eternity with Him in Heaven. He loves us so much that He’s forgiven every mistake we’ll ever make, and all He asks in return is our love. Heaven is far more beautiful than I could ever explain I’m sure, but as long as I’m with both God and Jesus, nothing else matters. Neither I, nor anyone else can offer you salvation, but I can show the way, through my Holy Spirit. The first step is to confess to God that you’re a sinner, and then ask Jesus to come into your life as Lord and Savior. As long as you believe that He lives, I look forward to seeing you in Heaven. Prayer, through Christ, is your only connection with God until you get Heaven, so do it earnestly, lovingly, and most importantly, often. My favorite verse today is: There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:8)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Today's scriptures are about our individual duties as servants of the Lord. We are commanded to be good stewards of the Lord. God blesses each of us with individual gifts and talents, which are meant to work together, to somehow benefit the strengthening of His Kingdom. Hard work is something that is instilled within us, starting with the work of Moses, and through the life of Jesus and His disciples. Jesus worked tirelessly for God, and made sure all of His time was committed to fellowship, and teaching the Word. We each are "ministers" in our own right, because we have a story to tell. God makes sure He instills His wisdom within all believers, and the Holy Spirit gives us everything we need to hone, use, and perfect our talents. Ministry isn't only comprised of being in the pulpit preaching, but could be a number of things. Anything in a positive form, that teaches the love of God, is considered a ministry. My church is a "Disciples of Christ" denomination, and we have a number of different ministries. We have the fun ministry, a ministry that feeds the homeless, children’s ministry, seed ministry, and the sick and shut-in ministry, just to name a few. It's written: And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matt. 25:18-20) This is Jesus' commandment to all of us, and He meant for us to make His presence known throughout the world, and whatever you feel is the best way for you to do that is okay. If it makes you feel good in your heart, follow that path, because God has laid it out for you. My heart is grieved when I read the news, and different gossip blog sites, because so many are lost. Very few know the truth about life, salvation, or Jesus Christ. Everyone's preoccupied with money, fashion, fame, drugs, alcohol, and lust. The only way the next generation will be able to change is if we form our ministries, and take our duties as disciples, or stewards, seriously. It's up to each individual, because we have an obligation, as followers of Christ, to do so. Do you think I always want to write these e-mails daily? Sometimes I'm not motivated or inspired, and just want to skip it, but there's something inside of me that keeps me going. It's my responsibility to God, and to those of you who rely on His word through my e-mails. It's my ministry, which is a seed that was planted three years ago by God, has been watered, pruned, and cared for by the Holy Spirit, through me. It will continue to grow, as long as I stay true to my calling. There's no better reward than to do what God called you to do. The long nights and cramped fingers don't matter, because I get a greater reward in Heaven. Paul wrote: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2) When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we begin this renewal process, where we die to our old sinful self, and are reborn as Holy children of God. In that transformation, we'll go through refinement, cleansing, and as we grow, we'll be given different tasks. These tasks are unique to each individual, though some may seem similar. For example, I've known since I was in kindergarten that I was supposed to teach in some sort of way. Teaching is very much my passion, but I've avoided it for a long time. However, I should've been asking God, what and how I'm supposed to teach. Now that I'm moving toward that path, I feel more at peace, and have an immense inner joy. I want you to reach deep down within yourself, and think about your passion, and what brings your joy. Do you feel like you're fulfilled in your life, or that you're making a difference, if even to just one or two people? God has clearly laid out a path for each of us, and it's up to us to seek out His will, and be open when He calls. There are times that we're meant to just sit, learn, and build our faith, but ultimately, we're created to be stewards for the Lord. If you don't have a personal relationship with Christ, you cannot be an adequate disciple, or build a strong ministry. You may not want to accept it, but that's what we're each called to do. Establish a strong bond with Jesus, and He'll work out the rest. He's a prayer away, and I'll be happy to pray with you if you need help. My favorite verse today is: As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

I'm grateful for the Lenten season, but even more excited that it's coming to a close. How are you doing so far? Forty days are longer than you anticipated isn't it? This upcoming Sunday is Palm Sunday, so we're a little over a week away from celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This upcoming week, starting Sunday, we'll commemorate the week of Jesus' death. Palm Sunday celebrates when Jesus entered Jerusalem a few days before He was betrayed. The story is found in John 12:12-19. The people of Jerusalem welcomed Jesus with Palm branches, which were used as a " symbol of triumph and of victory". As He was entering the city, they shouted “ Hosanna! ‘ Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ The King of Israel!” This Sunday, collect your Palm leaves, and allow them to symbolize your “triumph and victory” over whatever may have you in bondage, because that's what Jesus died to give you. Don't forget to praise His Holy Name in the process! Enjoy the remainder of your day, and be blessed family.

Today's scriptures are about the Lord's promises to never forsake us. I'm so grateful that God is not like any human being on this earth. He has promised, from the beginning of time, to never leave nor forsake us. What does it mean to be forsaken? The word forsake is defined: to quit or leave entirely; abandon; desert. I don't think that's a concept that we could easily grasp, because we're only able to understand those things that are logical. To know that God is with us at all times, could seem like a fable, but it's true. This is a wonderful thing, because we could always count on Him to be right there when we call. Whenever we're in need, lonely, or in pain, He's right there. When we're happy, and rejoicing, He’s there to share in that as well. He'll always be there because He loves us. I remember a day, not too long ago, when I was going through something, and I called all of my closest friends, my mother, sister, and father, but no one answered, and a small still voice said to me, "Saundra, talk to me". It was like an epiphany. I told God all that was on my heart, I laughed and cried with Him, and He was there to give me the comfort that I was seeking all along. It's written: A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 12:24) Jesus also said: No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15) This is a reason to rejoice! Jesus has formed our bond, by His blood, and so God waits anxiously to hear from us. He delights in us, and wants to be a part of everything we do. Even when we sin, He's there, quick to forgive. When we're running around with no aim or direction, He's waiting on us to seek His guidance. He's never too busy, and nothing is ever too small to share with Him, because He longs for our fellowship. Are you one of those people who only talk to God when you're in desperate need? Do seek people who you assume to be "holier" than you, to pray when you need a miracle from God? I have good news for you; you no longer have to think that way, because God is always with you. As long as you pray with a sincere heart, in Jesus' Name, He’ll listen, and answer. When you cry out to Him, He'll comfort you, no matter how many sins you've committed. When you ask Him for wisdom, He'll grant it. We need to be sure we're keeping God on that personal level, because that's where He wants us to be. Yes, He's the Alpha and the Omega, but He cares as much about you and me, as He does the affairs of the entire world. After all, He intentionally sought us, as if we were lost sheep. We frequently rely on, and trust in, our fellow man (or woman) for the comfort that can only come from God. Human minds aren't designed to always “be there”, so we have the ability to hurt each other. We're prone to let one another down, because none of us are perfect. If we're not in tune with God, it's impossible to be truly in tuned with anyone else. God's love, the Agape love, is bliss, and will never fade, but human love can, and in a number of cases will. Anytime we rely on another human to be our all and all, we'll eventually be let down or disappointed, because the flesh is naturally weak and selfish. God is the only one who will never forsake us. My intention is not to convince you to never trust another human being, but I'm urging you to Love God with all of your heart, and to trust in Him first. When you're doing that He will ensure that everyone, and everything else is aligned. In the words of the Apostle Paul, “Pray without ceasing.” If you're tired of being let down, or struggling with emptiness in your heart, then you're missing a very important component. Jesus is the Sealer of your fate, and the Author of your eternity, so be sure to build a close relationship with Him. Take Dr. Stanley's "God Quiz" today! My favorite verse today is: Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about believing in God. It means more to God that you believe in Him with your whole heart, than any thing else in the world. Knowing that He's real, and reverencing Him, is all you need to start growing in your faith walk. Faith is the foundation of our relationship with God. Jesus always stressed that truth in His teachings. The stories about the barren fig tree, the prodigal son, walking on water, healing the sick, and resurrecting the dead, were all based upon Faith. There are numerous scriptures in the bible, where God said, in so many words, "All you have to do is believe in me". We can only receive salvation if we believe in the Son of God, Jesus Christ. We must not only believe that He was born by a virgin, but also that He was God in the flesh. We should believe in the miracles He performed, His death on the cross, and His resurrection three days later. We must believe that He sits on a throne in Heaven, at God's right hand, and His shed blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness. That’s all that’s required to receive eternal life. Jesus said: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. (John 6:47) Notice neither He nor I ever said change your life, be perfect, stop sinning, etc. The two most important requirements for salvation are to believe in Him, and love Him. God will take care of everything else, through His Holy Spirit, which lives within us. We're taught from children to believe in ourselves, and that we could achieve anything we put our mind to, and in most cases that is true. If you have enough belief, hope, and faith in something you want, then you will achieve it. There are many successful people, who aren't believers in Jesus Christ. They accomplished everything they put their mind to, just by believing in themselves. Just imagine how much more they could've accomplished, if they applied half of that faith in God, and His ability provide their success. As believers, we must take that same principle, and apply it to our relationship with God. Believe Him to answer all prayers, and give you success; put your mind to it, and you’ll accomplish anything you want, by Christ. I'm talking about two totally different measures of success, because God’s view of success is totally different from the world's view. What other people think or say about us, is nowhere near as important as what God thinks of us. I cannot stress enough the importance of focusing on God, and God alone. Our every decision should be made with Him in mind, because that show's Him how much we love Him. It show's Him that we're committed to Him, we believe Him to do all that He's promised, and we trust Him with all our heart. If you know that all things are possible by faith, and believe in God, then why do you worry? Why the depression, weariness, and stress? Why is there crime, hatred, jealously and envy, if you know that God will supply your every need? Why lie, cheat, and steal, if you believe with all your heart, that the Holy Spirit walks with you every day? The answers lie within us, our maturity level, and most importantly our knowledge. We start our faith walk as "children", and we gradually grow into mature wise adults in Spirit. We're conformed to soldiers in the army of the Lord, and begin helping others achieve what's been revealed to us. There's true freedom in the wisdom of God! There's true rest in knowing that no matter what, He has you covered! There's true peace in knowing that if tomorrow never comes, you’ll be in Heaven, and God will say "well done good and Faithful servant". Imagine being adorned with jewels, and lead to your mansion, that Jesus prepared for you long ago. Freedom is what Jesus came to give us, and that freedom gives us true life. When I say life, I mean the ability to live, with an indescribable peace. God rewards those who love Him, but how could you truly love someone you don't believe in? It's impossible by earthly standards, and surely impossible by God’s standards. It's written: But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) Your first step to freedom is by believing in Jesus Christ. Once you confess your sins, the fact that you believe, and invite Him into your heart, your life's journey begins. You'll start off with a “crawl” in most cases, but the more your seek Him, the faster you'll be able to walk with Him. In the words of Pastor D.U. Cooper, "Try Him out"! My favorite verses today are: With God nothing shall be impossible. And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. (Luke 1:37,45)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

Today's scriptures are about yearning to escape the weakness of the flesh, and to thirst for Christ. Have you ever thirsted for anything in life? I'm not speaking of food or drink, but about yearning, or wanting something so badly, that you could taste it. We all have, I'm sure. We’re naturally inquisitive, but would you say that you thirst for the Lord? When Jesus initially enters our heart, at the point of Salvation, a change begins to happen. In some people it happens rapidly, but most will notice small subtle changes. In any event, you’ll get a certain yearning for the knowledge of the Lord. All of a sudden you start to shed old habits, and lose your craving for worldly things. As you begin to feed your appetite for the wisdom and knowledge of God, you'll begin to want more. Through this growth process, you'll have the enemy at one hand, attempting to contradict everything you learn, in hopes of turning you away from the path of righteousness. This is called the Spiritual warfare. That's the battle of good versus evil, which sounds like something from a fictional movie, but it’s real. The enemy will tempt you in every way you could imagine, and will especially attack your weaknesses, causing you to second guess even your Salvation. At the same time, your Spirit, which has been made Holy, by the blood of Christ, will thirst for Jesus. You’ll get to the point where you want to be "right", and do and say the "right" things. When the Holy Spirit takes control, all you’ll want to be is a "good and faithful servant", and God's sees that. It's written: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. (Matt. 5:6) Spiritual warfare doesn't get easier, it only becomes harder as we grow, but I have good News for you, God simply continues to make us stronger. He'll turn our weaknesses into strengths, and those things that once kept us in bondage, will give us the power to help free others. We go through hardships, trials, and tribulation in life, to strengthen our faith in God, help us understand the consequences of our actions, as well as to provide testimony for other lost sheep. There will be times where we'll get to a point, where the pain is so bad, that we have no other option but to drop on our knees and cry out to God, but that's all a part of life. The best thing about rain is the rainbow, and the best thing about pain is the joy of our deliverance. I want nothing more than to be a perfect person, and to live a perfect life. I wish I had enough money, power, and resources to heal the world of all of the hunger and pain. Most importantly, I wish that I didn't make so many foolish mistakes, but the truth is, that will never happen, because I'm just an imperfect human being, who's "a work in progress". Conviction is a wonderful thing, but at the time we're going through it, it doesn't feel very good. However, to know that we serve a God who is so loving, kind, and forgiving, that it doesn't matter if we fall short, offers peace through freedom! Did you know that you're free? Jesus has freed you from the penalties of sin, and has given you strength your never knew you had. It's written: Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Cor. 12:10) When you thirst, "seek ye first the Kingdom of God", and He'll give you the water of Life. It's written: And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. (John 6:35) It's natural to get overwhelmed with life, it happens to all of us, but Jesus said "come to me", so allow the fact that He'll always be there, give you the courage you need to overcome, and triumph over all that ails you. Through Christ, you never have to thirst again. If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, than I want you to know that you've been chosen, and until you heed His call on your life, your thirst and hunger will get deeper and stronger, and He's the only one who could fulfill you. My favorite verse today is: Our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Philippians 3:20)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about resting in the salvation of Jesus. Our flesh, and worldly thinking, gets us in a lot of trouble. Just think of the state the world is in today. If you turn on the television you're subjected to all of the things we're warned to avoid in the bible. Fornication and adultery is not only glorified, but in some cases promoted. Drinking and drug abuse is overstated in the music our children listen to, and sin seems like the cool thing to do. Most people seem to have a nonchalant attitude about it. The enemy is controlling our generation and the ones that come after us, and the world is seemingly going to hell. Sin has been in existence sense the beginning of time, but God has His own ways of dealing with things. Through Jesus Christ, we're offered the gift of Salvation, and protection from evil, but it's up to us to accept that gift. Jesus has gone through life in human form, experienced everything we experience, and was able to overcome the world. He did this to better empathize with our struggle. He also came to teach us the ways of the Father, and give us the keys to life. As we look around us, the world is quickly deteriorating before our eyes. Earthquakes of great magnitude, storms, floods, and other natural disasters are on the rise, which gives us proof of our mortality, and confirms that nothing in this earthly life is guaranteed, or predictable. We, as Christians can have peace in knowing that Jesus is here to protect us, and when this life is over, we're going to Heaven, to take our place in the Kingdom of God. It all seems like a fairy tale doesn't it? We have proof through the Holy Bible, as well as through our Holy Spirit. I can only go by what I've experienced, and God has proven Himself real in my life, time and time again. The Holy Spirit is ever present, and speaks He to me nonstop. He leads and guides me, teaching me the ways of Christ. He speaks to God on my behalf, and lifts up my prayers. It's written: Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26) With all of this help through Christ, why is our world in such a horrible state? That's a question we need to ask ourselves. We each have an individual responsibility to live in righteousness, and it's not until we personally learn about Christ, that we'll be able to teach anyone else. Jesus said: And why do you look at the speck [of sawdust] in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. (Matt 7:3-5) The beauty of life is that God created us to fellowship with Him. He understands our learning process, and knows that we're weak in the flesh. He's given His Son to give us strength, and catch us when we fall. He's offered Salvation, because He knows we can’t achieve it on our own. To know that our main objective is to live a life pleasing to God, but understand that it's okay if we fall, is the most liberating piece of knowledge we could ever have. Isn't it wonderful to know that the Almighty and All Powerful God never turns a deaf ear to us, and is quick to forgive? It's written: Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. (Isa. 59:1) When we stop focusing so much on the act of sin, and more on the mercy and love of God, we'll notice that the urge to sin will gradually decrease. As well as, fighting temptations from the enemy will be almost effortless. His light opens our eyes and allows us to see through all of the evils of the world. The Psalmist knew best when he asked, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10). He had the answer to a peaceful life. I urge you to stop trying to be righteous, and be righteous through Jesus Christ. Follow the commandments of Love, which He taught us, and don't go to your grave trying to "fix" your own problems, or right your own wrongs, because you're incapable. Go to Him with a heart of repentance, and ask for forgiveness, and He'll do the rest. I speak from personal experience. I know that Jesus holds my Crown of Glory when I leave this life, but the question is, do you? It's simple, take a few minutes to take Dr. Stanley's "God Quiz"; I promise you won't regret it. If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, I'm praying that as of today, you will. My favorite verses today are: Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. (Jude 1:24-25)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about the frailty of the flesh and earthly life. Paul often wrote about life and death, but most importantly, he wrote about the importance of preparing for death. He refers to the flesh as our "earthly house". It's written: Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. (2 Cor. 5:1 NIV) In Paul’s second letter to the people of Corinth, he wrote about the despairs or life, the inevitability of death, but the joy of salvation. He encourages them to stay faithful to Christ, and the church, because through Him they’re offered eternal life. It’s written: Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Cor. 4:16-18) As of today, I'm going to vow to stop taking life for granted, because lately I've noticed that I've been doing way too much complaining. I have no reason to complain, because even through my trials, pain, and heartache, I'm still blessed. I know Who God is, and most importantly, I know how much He loves me, so there’s no need to worry and complain. Life is way too short, it's a like a race to the finish, and if we don't stop long enough to listen to God, then we're not only missing out on our earthly blessings, but our eternal treasures. I can still remember being in high school like it was yesterday, and here I am, fifteen years later, and it seems like nothing has changed. I can, however, remember how much God has done for me over the years, and the tremendous growth He's given me. I can also recall the rough spots, but the in all actuality, the good always outweighs the bad. I write all of this to point out the fact that life is precious. The way to avoid wasting any more time, being down and out, lost and confused, or beaten and battered, is to commit your entire life to God. In everything you do, use the eyes of Christ, because you have His Holy Spirit in your heart. Consult Him any time you question about your actions. Ask Him for the strength to endure through the hard times. Thank Him for each day He walks with you, and you'll notice your attitude change tremendously. Look at the life of the Apostle Paul, who was once a man who persecuted and killed followers of Christ. When it came close to his death, in Paul's final letters to Timothy, he accepted his fate. He knew that he had to suffer much, and Jesus even said, when questioned about His choice of Paul, "For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake" (Acts 9:16). Once Paul surrendered to Christ, he never avoided suffering for Jesus' sake, because He knew were His rewards laid. Like Paul, we too have sinned against God, and we must be willing to "suffer for His name's sake". If Jesus suffered, and He never sinned, how much more will we endure? At the same time, He has redeemed us through His death, so we won't have to experience eternity in hell. The next time you're going through something, shake it off, because none of that really matters. As long as you continue praise God, and look for His blessing throughout, then your rewards will be great now and forever more. Be sure to share your testimony and knowledge of Him, to all who's willing to listen. Always feel “Heaven”, live as though you're already there, and trust God to supply your every need. This will ensure your peace within. Go through some of Paul’s Epistles, and notice how he never complained about all of his hardships, he simply encouraged us to keep loving, praising, and fighting for the Lord. That's the same message I want to ensure I'm relying to you every day. Start by surrendering your life to God, and allow Him to take you to that place Paul was. This "tent" is temporary, and will soon be destroyed by this earth, but when you’re absent from the body, you'll be present with the Lord. That's a reason to rejoice all the days of your life, no matter what's going on around you. This reward only comes through Salvation through Christ Jesus. If you don't know Him as Savior, get to know Him today. He's a simple prayer away. My favorite verse today is: What is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. (James 4:14)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

Today's scriptures are about life's pain and sorrow. This is a subject that I'm sure we all can relate to, in one way or the other. There isn't a person in this world that hasn't experienced some type of pain or sorrow, at some time in their life, even Jesus Christ. Some may have experienced more than others, but there's always a reason for it. God never promised that life would be easy, but He promised to love us unconditionally. Love isn't always the butterflies in the stomach feeling, but there are different emotional levels. God loves us on all levels, He takes us as we are, and creates righteousness from the inside out. After all, the most excruciating pain is the pain that comes from the heart. I believe the most pain comes from losing a loved one through death, strife, divorce, or being separated physically or emotionally. The sorrow of losing a loved one through death is something we all have or will experience, and it's out of our control. We often can’t understand why we have to endure it, but we do. Jesus said: Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted (Matt. 5:4). The pain and sorrow of strife is something that can sometimes be avoided, but is depended upon our growth and maturity level. It's written: Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins. (Prov. 10:12) The sorrow of divorce is something I've been experiencing over the last year and a half, and it's a feeling that has caused me grief. When two people marry, they're not only making a vow to each other, but a vow to God. When that covenant is broken, it feels like something has died. At times it feels like a death you could've avoided, similar to abortion. It's almost like you had a choice in the matter, so if you’d done things differently, your marriage could’ve survived. Sometimes you feel that had you tried harder, loved stronger, or given more, you’d still be happily married. Divorce is much lighter than abortion, but to some it could be just as great a burden, and causes deep sorrow and pain. There is no sin greater than the other, and it's written in Ecclesiastes chapter 3, there are due seasons in life. Thanks be to God, we're forgiven of our sins, and our mistakes are forgotten when we repent. Divorce is a touchy subject in Christianity, especially among different denominations, because some people see it as a mark of shame, and something you should never discuss. However, I'm living for God, He knows my heart, and what I've gone through. He only wants what's best for all of His children, and He places some people in our lives for seasons, and some for a lifetime. We need to learn how to be grateful for our seasons with certain people, and graciously move forward when that season ends. Repent for the sins you've committed, forgive the other person wholeheartedly, but most importantly forgive yourself and move on. There's so much God has in store for us, and sometimes it's not in ways we imagine. Breakups or losing loved ones are some of the hardest things we'll ever face in life, but thank God that the heart heals, and we have forgiveness through Jesus. Thank God for the new people in our lives who are meant to restore joy to our heart, and most importantly, be grateful for the good memories from the past. If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. If you hold on to all of the painful things in life, you become bitter and resentful. As for me, I have made peace with God, and have received forgiveness through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and that's all that matters. What others think is no longer relevant. I have to admit, I'm gradually going through the five stages of grief, and that's to be expected. I believe I'm finally entering into the stage of acceptance, and I no longer feel any shame, remorse, or regrets, because God is seeing me through it. I want each of you to understand that we should expect sorrow and heartache in life; they’re called growing pains. When you live your life for other people, you not only experience your pain, but you’re subjected to theirs as well. When you're living for God, He'll give you peace, joy, and happiness in abundance, which surpasses all understanding. I'm going to leave you with this, from the prophet Isaiah, about Salvation and the coming of Jesus Christ: “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound...To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” (Isa. 61:1,3) Joy comes from Jesus Christ, throughout all of life's seasons, good or bad, so allow Him to heal your heart today. The one thing pain and sorrow is known to do is harden your heart, but how could you love God with all of your heart, and love your neighbor, if you're holding on to pain? I urge you to let go, and let God. If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, get to know Him today; I'll be happy to pray with you. My favorite verse today is: Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. (Psalm 61:20)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

Today's scriptures are about the blessings of the Lord. I remember a prayer taught to me as a child, that we used to call "Grace". We would say this "grace" before each meal: "God is Grace, God is good, and I thank Him for my food, bow my head, and now I pray, give us Lord our daily bread...Amen, Thank you Jesus." This prayer was taught to most of us, from the time we were able to talk, and the tradition is still being passed our to our children. Now that I think about it, it was a great way to teach us about the goodness of the Lord from the beginning. Some may see it as merely a tradition, but it goes way beyond that. As we get older we veer away from this "child's prayer", but I think it should continue to be used throughout our lifetime. In all actuality, we could use the reminder throughout the day. God’s blessings abound beyond anything we could imagine, and they are given by His grace. Blessings come in so many different ways, and it's important to thank God for any and everything in our life, because they’re all working together for our good. In most cases, blessings bring us joy, but some may cause temporary pain, which is all a part of the blessing of refinement. We must also learn to communicate with the Holy Spirit, to strengthen our Spirit of discernment, because there are things given to us that may look like blessings from God, but really aren't. Sometimes the devil will "bless" us with things that may bring temporary pleasure to the flesh, but in the end, will bring unnecessary heartache and pain. It happens all the time, for example, maybe you've been depressed because you're in a lot of debt, and on the verge of losing your home. You've prayed and asked God for a blessing to save your house, but the days are rolling by, and you haven't received an answer from God. One day you're at the grocery store, and someone just robbed a bank. While running from the police, they threw the bag full of money in your car, and no one saw it. Your first thought is, "this is a blessing, now I can save my house". Technically, it is a blessing, but a blessing from whom? If you keep that money, you'll eventually pay, maybe not in the world, but God sees and knows everything. If you give it back, God will not only bless you with the house, but you’ve stored up treasures in Heaven as well. We must have patience, and wait on the Lord, because there's not a day that goes by that He doesn't bless us in abundance. He promises over and over in the bible, that He will answer every prayer, and supply every need. I can testify that He's never failed me yet. It's written: "I, the LORD, keep it, I water it every moment; lest any hurt it, I keep it night and day. Fury is not in Me. Who would set briers and thorns against Me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together. Or let him take hold of My strength, that he may make peace with Me; and he shall make peace with Me.” (Isa. 24:3-5) I think these verses of scripture tell a great story about the blessings of God. He will always keep us close to Him, every moment of the day. All we need to do is stay close to Him, love Him with all our hearts, and follow His will. We're either with Him or against Him, there is no in between, or "trying to make your mind up". If you’re against Him, you will feel His fury. His blessings flow to everyone good and evil, but just imagine how much more the good receives. As Christians we have the authority to ask for anything we want, need, or desire, that won't cause us to sin against God. If it's in His will, we'll receive it, because of His grace. The blood of Jesus is the greatest blessing we will ever receive. God didn’t spare His own Son to give us joy, peace, and happiness, so how great is His love and mercy? The best thing we could give God in return, for His blessings, is thanks, praise, and sharing our testimony. I challenge you to create a new habit; every night for the next twenty-one days, take some time to really count your blessings. I mean every blessing, not just the "big" ones. I believe this exercise will help us create a more humble and grateful heart, allow us to appreciate what God has done in our lives, and help build our faith. Get to know Jesus on a personal and intimate level, and He'll teach you the ways of God, through His Holy Spirit. You'll start to notice the new blessings given, and the ones that have been there all along. Pray and ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, and commit to building your love for God. My favorite verse today is: The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. (Proverbs 10:22)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about trusting the Lord to supply all of our needs. This has always been a true statement from the beginning of time, but for some reason most of us don’t trust Him with all of our heart. God understands that, so we go through a number of test and trails, to prepare us for our blessings. Today's scriptures lead off with a partial verse from Genesis 22, which tells the story of when God tested Abraham. It’s written: One day God called out to Abraham and told him: “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” (vs. 2) What would you have done, if God said this to you? Personally, my first reaction would’ve been to think that I was going crazy. I’d then immediately say, "the devil is a liar", and keep moving forward, but that's just me. Abraham on the other hand, was a brave soul, it isn't written anywhere that he questioned God, nor second-guessed His command, he just packed up his son, his supplies, and headed toward the mountains. Moses took his "only son", whom he loved dearly, and laid him on an alter that he built, took out his knife, raised it in the air and without a blink of an eye, was about to sacrifice his only son. At that moment: ...the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.” And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” (vs. 11-12) Abraham, out of faithfulness, still gave his burnt offering with a clean animal, and he called that place "The-LORD-Will-Provide" (vs. 14). What an enormous amount of faith and trust Abraham had in God! Although it isn't written here, I'm sure he went through feelings of fear, anger, remorse, sadness, and much more, but through it all, he still trusted in the Lord to supply His every need. This is a true example of what Dr. Stanley's meant when he said, "Obey God and leave the consequences to Him". The scripture goes on to say: Then the Angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” (vs. 15-18) How awesome is this? Abraham inherited so much, just because he trusted the Lord to supply all of his needs, through a simple act of obedience. We too are rewarded this way everyday, when we have just a little faith in God. God asks us to follow some rather simple rules, love Him, love each other, and trust and believe in His son Jesus Christ. When we're obedient to these things, we have the opportunity to go to Him and ask for anything, within His will, and it'll be provided to us. The everyday blessings that we take for granted all come without us even asking. Clean air to breath, shelter, clothing, food, etc., will all be there, when we trust Him. Jesus said: “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matt 6:31-34) I urge you to try and minimize life's evil distractions, because when we fail one of God's many test and trials, we get knocked off the narrow path of righteousness, and we lose out on many blessings. What if Abraham would've said to God, "I will not kill my son", because he did have a choice? He would've missed out on one of the most tremendous blessing man has ever received. Trust in God requires us to give up "self", and take on the mind of Christ. If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, then you're truly missing out on the greatest thing that will ever happen to you. Most importantly, you will not inherit the kingdom of God. A little trust will get you a long way, so pray and ask for Salvation today. If you don't know how, please contact me, and I'll pray with you. My favorite verses today are: Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; to deliver their soul from death. (Psalm 33:18-19)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about remembering God after our blessings. We receive so many blessings from God on a daily basis, that it's sometimes hard to acknowledge them all. Having good health and strength is a gift, let alone having our necessities like food, shelter, transpiration, employment, etc. Counting our blessings daily is necessary, because acknowledging that everything we have in this life is given to us by the grace of God, helps us stay humble. God promises that He'll never let the righteous fall, and that whatever we ask He'll give. I’m a living witness, who will testify that those two things are true. However, God knows our heart, our maturity level, and where we're trying to be in our faith walk. How many times have you prayed for something, was blessed with it, and never thanked God for it? In addition, when you received those blessings, how did you bless others or uplift the kingdom of God? Just imagine that your child asked you for a car on their sixteenth birthday. You buy it for them because they've been working hard, and doing well in school. Once they get that car, they never say thank you, start messing up in school, and never offer to help around the house. How would that make you feel? We treat God like that more often than we realize, and then when things go wrong in our lives, we question Him. How many times have you asked God "why me", or "what am I doing wrong"? I can’t count how many times I've prayed those prayers. It's written: A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished. (Prov. 28:20 NIV) I’m sure most of us have dreamt of winning the lottery, or building an empire, with so many riches, that we’d never have to want for anything. There's nothing wrong with that, but what matters is what we tend to do with those riches. My Pastor preached about patience this past Sunday, and he mentioned the scriptures, “the last comes first, and the first comes last”, “those who mourn will be blessed”, etc. Those types scriptures pertain today’s topic as well, because God knows what the love of money and material abundance could do to a human being. Our flesh is weak, and to have anything at out disposal could potentially be damaging to our soul. We must grow to a point where we are wise enough to seek God in all things, and adequately manage the little things in our lives, before we could manage earthly wealth. We must learn to work hard, and give freely, putting aside our own selfish ambitions. We should be able to praise God in our struggles an in our triumphs. Learning His ways, and being content with what we have is worth more than any amount of money in the world. God expects us to be like that teenager with their first car in the beginning of our Faith walk, but eventually we must grow and mature. He’s working within us, to accomplish just that. He wants us to have our hearts desire, and is willing to bless us with whatever we need to be happy, but what constitutes happiness? There are so many of us who walk around sad and upset, without a valid reason. We've been blessed with the greatest gift known to man, Salvation through Jesus Christ, and His Holy Spirit in our heart. That fact alone should bring us joy, peace, and happiness, all the days of our life. All we need to do is consult our Holy Spirit to find out what we should pray for, and ask God in Jesus Name, and it's as good as done. Live your life with gratitude, thanksgiving, and praise on your lips at all time, and watch God work. I'll leave you with this: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7) If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, that's the first thing you should ask God for, and with Him comes access to all of the riches in Heaven and on earth. Thank Him everyday for the blessings past, present, and those to come, and cast your nets out into the water, and watch the multitude you'll be blessed with (John 21:1-14). My favorite verses today are: Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; ... then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God: ... for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth. (Deuteronomy 8:11-12, 4,18)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

Today's scriptures are about God's pardon of our sin. What a mighty God we serve! He’s above anything we could ever think of, and loves us more than anyone ever could. When we sin against God, and chose evil over His goodness, it grieves His heart (Gen. 6:1-7). Take a few moments and think about the Love of God. He created us to do great things, and we're so unique, that we each have something special to bring to His kingdom. He knew us before we were formed in our mother's womb, and we were chosen to live out all eternity with Him. Think of how it might make Him feel when we deliberately live in evil and wickedness, with no regard for what He's asked us to do. No parents want their child to grow up to be an alcoholic, drug addict, or a mean and evil person. When your child is born you look at them with love and hope. You do your best to nurture them and make sure they have all they need, but when they fall off of the path that you've worked so hard to help them achieve, it hurts. If they end up being ungrateful and rebellious against you, that hurts even more. Now apply those principles to the almighty God in Heaven. I know this is a much-used verse, but it’s the key to life, so lets take a moment to examine it. I want you to read this aloud: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) His love doesn't stop there, though eternal life is the greatest reward we could ever ask for. Even those who never do a good deed, sin every day of their life, could receive it, if he asked with a clean and contrite heart. Jesus was sent to do much more. It's written: Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. (Acts 13:38:39) All of this is possible through the grace and mercy of God. Sin causes disconnection, but Jesus brings reconnection. Sin leads to strife, anger, bitterness, remorse, depression, sadness, heartache, pain, and death, but Jesus gives us the power to overcome it all, and truly “live”. God is always waiting with open arms to receive us, and working to make us better, by creating in us a clean heart and a right Spirit. He reminds that we're "nothing but Dust", and He understands our frailties, so out of love He'll forgive us of our sins each time we ask. Not only will He forgive, but also when we repent, sin’s forgotten. He won't hold those things against us, because that would be condemnation. It’s written: There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:1) Now say this aloud three times, “All God wants from me is love”, how profound is that? God doesn't require that we be perfect little Angels, because that isn't possible, however, He expects us to love and respect Him enough to follow His will. He wants to carry the spirit of humility and admit when we're wrong, ask for forgiveness, and make a conscious effort to change. That's good enough for Him, and He requires us to expect the same from others. Forgiveness is a two way street, and when we practice this selfless act, it allows us to understand that we're not perfect. Every parent thinks their child is the best child ever created, well God thinks that about every one of us, because we're created in His image, and He knows our heart. If you don't know Jesus as your Savior, then your sin will continue to weigh heavily on your life, and everything in it. Allow Jesus to give you freedom, because sooner or later it will catch up to you. If you’re a Christian, but haven't had an honest conversation with God, confessing your sins, and asking Him to forgive you and give you the strength to repent, then you need to have that conversation today. Don't put it off until tomorrow, because tomorrow holds sin of it's own. Make it a habit, and enjoy being lighter and free. My favorite verses today are: Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger forever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. (Micah 7:18-19)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

It seems like there isn’t enough time to accomplish all I need to accomplish, in one day. I need to learn how to focus on one thing at a time. I heard a preacher say recently, "The enemy of accomplishing one goal is another goal". He mentioned an article he read about Thomas Edison, and the creation the light bulb. Mr. Edison didn't think he was smarter than everyone else, but he maintained his focus on one thing, day in and day out, until he mastered it. He was never down about his many failures, but he said that they gave him ideas on what to try differently the next time. I thought that was so profound, considering what I'm struggling with right now. I think faith and optimism go hand and hand, and even babies fall down numerous times before they’re able balance themselves and walk. If you're in the process of soul searching, and making some life changes, take the one thing that interest you the most, and focus on that, until you perfect it, then move on to the next thing. I hope this helps someone other than me, I write by the Spirit so someone needs to hear it. Enjoy your evening, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about keeping our focus on the things above. Focus seems to be the new theme in my life lately, because I know firsthand, that when I lose focus, calamity breaks loose. If you're anything like me, which I think most people are, you have to make a conscious effort to stay focused on the task at hand. To live like Jesus requires complete focus on God, and the Kingdom of Heaven. If we aren't focused, we'll easily be swayed by evil. Remember Jesus said: “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." (Matt. 7:13-14) This is reminds me of the famous circus act, the tight rope. In order to avoid distractions, while walking on this thin piece of rope, many feet in the air, the tight rope walker must maintain a point of focus. If he takes his eyes off of that focal point, he'll fall. He must have confidence in his ability to keep his balance, as well as in the apparatus he works with. When we initially start on our faith walk with God, that narrow path Jesus was talking about, is similar to a tight rope. The distractions of the world are many, and if we lose our focus on the Kingdom of God, we will backslide. As we grow, it gets easier and easier to stay that path. In order to maintain a good level of focus, we must develop discipline. After all you can't have focus without discipline. Jesus constantly preached about denying yourself, and following Him. After a long days work, we don't always want to come home and read the bible, or spend time in prayer and meditation, because we're tired. On Sunday mornings, after a long Saturday, we don't always want to get up and go to Church, we’d rather sleep in. When someone has hurts us, we don't always feel like turning the other cheek, we want to hurt them in return. Christianity isn't all about blessings and gifts, it requires real work. To focus on anything requires real work, let alone trying to be a disciple of Christ. Did you know that you're a Disciple? Jesus commanded us to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matt. 28:19). Think about the twelve who walked with Him, and the amount of dedication, discipline, and focus they showed. Read any book in the New Testament and learn the ways of John, Peter, Luke, Judas, Stephen, Paul, and the others. All of these men served Jesus up until the day they took their last breath; well after Jesus went on to sit at the right hand of God. They never took their focus off of Heaven, which allowed them to endure life, lead, and help save so many souls. Their lives have an impact on each of us today, and will continue, way after us. That couldn't have happened had they took their focus off of God. We should always keep in mind that this life is temporary, and we will pass on some day, so we're not only working to enjoy life here on earth, but for all eternity. When we look at the people who are not saved, their lives may seem glamorous and fun, but in the end they're empty and lost. It’s our job to help get them on the right path, but we can’t if we’re not focused, it’s like “the blind leading the blind”. It's written: Do not let your heart envy sinners, but be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day; For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off. (Prov. 23: 17-18) I'm begging you to take some time and reevaluate what's most important in your life. If you wrote a list of your life's goals, where would God fall on that list? If God isn't number one then you need to change your focus. The only way to do that is by Salvation through Jesus Christ. Through Jesus you receive the Holy Spirit, and when you focus on His words, and following His lead, you're on the right path. My favorite verses today are: We faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory: while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I'm grateful for the Lent season, and happy I decided to follow this religious tradition. Being "in the wilderness" has allowed me to understand much. As well as challenged me to focus on the ways and teachings of Christ, and really strive to be like Him. Jesus was an extraordinary man (still is), who had all of the answers to living a peaceful life. In some cases He taught in parables, but this was meant to challenge us, and help us relate is teachings to "real life" experiences. Have you started reading the Gospels yet? I've started reading the book of Luke, and once I get started I can't put it down. The stories come alive, and I'm discovering so much more than I did before. The miracles and wonderful wisdom He shared, are awesome, so trust your Holy Spirit to guide you through this process. Get started tonight, if you haven't already, I promise you’ll will learn more each time you pick it up. Enjoy the rest of your day, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about trust over logic. I talk about this subject with friends frequently, because it's important that we know that God doesn't always work according to the world’s logic. We’re led in ways we never thought possible, and we find ourselves questioning God, instead of trusting Him. He's equipped us with salvation through Jesus Christ, the Holy Bible, and step-by-step guidance by the Holy Spirit, so why the lack of trust? The real key to a life full of peace, joy, and happiness lies in three simple things, trust, love, and obeying God. The world works on the logical, and most people believe that everything is black and white, but what constitutes black and white? Logic is defined: reason or sound judgment, as in utterances or actions. It's acknowledged that we're in spiritual warfare, which consists of good versus evil. When we awake to see a new day, our main goal should be to follow the will of God, and create some good in the world. We can do that on many different scales, from something as small as smiling at someone who looks like they're having a bad day, or by stopping to help someone who appears stranded. It could go deeper with our professions, volunteer work, church affiliations, etc. Now logic says if we do good things we get good things in return. Even the bible says, "we reap what we sow", but what, how, and when, we should expect that good that we reaped, to be sown, remains a mystery to us. Isn't it logical that if we work our job eight hours a day, five days a week, the following week we should receive a pay check for forty hours of work? God doesn't totally work that way, He wants us to put our trust in Him, and work to store up our treasures in Heaven. He’s in control, so we must trust Him for everything, everyday, because our main commandment is to love Him. Trusting God to take care of our every need, without any tangible evidence of His existence, is a huge way to show Him love. Knowing in our heart of hearts that there is a God, and trusting Jesus Christ as our Savior, is what will get us into Heaven. No amount of good deeds, money, or power could do it. Let's look at the story of the Jesus and the rich young ruler: Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’” And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich. (Luke 18:18-23) Now does this story sound logical to you? Do you think Jesus is literally saying you can't be rich and go to Heaven? Jesus was able to read this young man's heart, and so He knew that he would trust his money, more than he trusted God. Jesus simply challenged this man to make a decision, whether logical or not. Ultimately choosing God is all that matters. We do have moral rules to follow, so that's why Jesus named the Ten Commandments, but overall faith in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit is most important. It's written: “Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”— because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.” (Mark 3:28-30). We're expected to make mistakes in life, so I urge you not to sweat the small stuff. Be diligent in learning the ways of Christ, growing in the wisdom of God, and making a conscious effort to change you sinner ways, but trust in God first, and He'll make sure you do the ladder. Trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and He'll spend the rest of your life proving His love to you, and He only asks that you do the same. My favorite verses today are: Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. (Psalm 62:8)

Daily Devotinal Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today's verses are about having consolation through God, during times of affliction. What are the first things you do in times of tribulation or affliction? Do you: a) shut down and become recluse, b) take on numerous tasks in hopes of to ignore the pain, c) lash out at the people around you, or indulge to bad habits, or d) go to God in prayer, meditate on His promises, and praise Him for the lessons learned? We all know that the good "Christian" answer is D, but that isn't always our first reaction. The human mind is built to try and rationalize everything before making decisions, and when experiencing certain levels of tribulation. We can react in many different ways, depending upon our level of grief, as well as our maturity level in our Faith walk. I’m a firm believer of the “Five Stages of Greif” theory, which states that when we experience loss, or trauma of some sort, we experience affliction in phases. The stages of the "grief cycle" are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Most Pastors, counselors, or Psychoanalyst teaches the HALT theory, and these simple principles are meant to help us physically and mentally endure grief. We're more prone to depression and/or a lack of faith, due to affliction, when we're Hungry, Angry, Lonely, and/or Tired. When we're going through hard times it's important to eat healthy and often, avoid things that may cause anger, stay connected with family or friends who are positive, and get the proper amount of sleep. This takes care of your physical and mental health, but above all of that, you must feed your Spirit. God allows us to be tested and afflicted for many reasons. The most common reason is for refinement, in hopes that we'll learn from our mistakes, and/or strengthen our weaknesses. He also tests our maturity, because if you can be faithful with little, He'll bless you with much. In addition, our faith is assessed through tasks that require great trust in God. He must be sure that we're ready before we're called. The only way to be prepared for tests of endurance is to consistently stay in the Word of God, because your Spiritual health allows you to stay on top of the mental and physical. The Holy Bible holds the weapons to defeat the enemy, and the promises to sustain the heart. A strong prayer life is necessary to get through everyday life, because the enemy is betting on you to fail. However, ignoring him, while being subconsciously aware of his presence, allows you defeat him every time. Your energy is much better spent on the Lord, learning His principles, building a strong bond, and allowing Him to feed you the wisdom needed to excel in life. Whether you consider yourself a child of God or not, you're sure to be tested, but trust God and the saving grace of Jesus Christ, which is more powerful than anything we could endure. He urges us to come anytime, anyplace, and for anything, and the most critical time to seek Him is in times of affliction. Paul reminds us of this faithful saying: For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. (2 Tim. 2:11-13) If you don't know Jesus as your Lord Savior please pray that prayer today, and when you do, you and Jesus become one. Life could be hard with God, but I could only imagine how much worst it is without Him. Let me know if you need someone to pray with you. My favorite verses today are: Now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:6-7)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

We have 20 more days until Spring, and it brings rebirth, and new attitudes. We'll also celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, speaking of, how's your wilderness Journey going? We're only 12 days into it, and I'm feeling better than ever, praise God! Continue your self-exploration, and dedication to the love of Christ. Miracles will happen, I promise. Jesus said: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." (Matt. 16:24) Keep this one thing in mind, life is a journey, but better served when we consciously walk with Jesus every day. Enjoy the remainder of your day, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about the Love of God. Love is such a wonderful thing. He loves us despite our flaws, and will remain in love with us for all eternity. The Apostle Paul defines love as "The Greatest Gift", in one of his letters to the people of Corinth. He writes: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails... (Cor. 13:4-8 NIV) Don’t all of these things represent God to the fullest? God is love, that’s why our major commandment is to “Love Him with all of our heart and soul”, and that's it. We can fail at everything else, but Love exceeds all bounds. When you love something or someone you treat them with the utmost respect and kindness. When dealing with them, you're patient and meek, always thinking about their wellbeing, and how you could contribute to their happiness; that's how God treats us. He's always open when we call out to Him, and He anxiously awaits our fellowship. He created us for Him, to love and cherish, and watch us grow into leaders and servants of Christ. He also requires us to love one another, because we are a reflection of Him. When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, He enters our heart, mind, body, and soul, and we become infested with Love. When we continue to feed our souls with the fruits of the Spirit, and give love freely, we'll notice a change in our attitude, and in the level of our inner peace. Realistically, having the mindset of "loving my neighbor as myself", could be risky in this world, if not careful. Not everyone is a Christian, or has our mindset. Oftentimes, if we open our heart to the “world”, and expect the same in return from “it”, we could end up hurt, used, and scorn. I'm sure all of you could relate, because earthly love isn't the same as Godly love, there’s a big difference. As you grow in your faith walk, you love people despite their flaws, and start to be able to look through their flesh, and see their heart. I feel like I am a big ball of love, and I've learned to accept that about myself. Some call it optimism, or say I have a "dreamer" mentality, but it's truly a gift from God. Sometimes I get angry because of my forgiving heart, and perceive myself as a pushover, gullible, or a softy, but I know my limit. I choose to see the best in people, and I know that everyone has some good in them, because they're created in God's image. The Holy Spirit has given me decrement, and helps me avoid evil, and that connection gets stronger everyday. I try to live by the principles Jesus teaches: “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them." (Luke 6:27-32) Now in these verses, Jesus isn't teaching us to allow people to run over us, we cannot be foolish (remember wise as serpents, gentle as doves?). However, He's telling us not to worry about the people who try to wrong us, because we're only doing what God commanded us to do. These people have their rewards, remember to “obey God, and leave the consequences up to Him” (~Dr. Charles Stanley). If you have someone in your life that's consistently hurting you, get rid of him or her completely, because that's not what God's love is. If they slapped one cheek, you gave them the other and the slapped that one too, you're all out of cheeks, forgive them and move on. Your love is better served on something else. God gives us the option to choose Him, yes He loves everyone, and offers Eternal life to all, but He doesn't make you choose Him. That's the beauty of the saying, "If you love something let it go, and if it's true love, it'll come back to you". Have you strayed away from God and are ready to comeback? He's been waiting on you the entire time, and all Heaven will rejoice when He receives you. Pray and ask for His forgiveness, and accept it, repent, and move on in His love. If you have never confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior, don't worry He loves you too. Say a prayer asking Jesus to save you, and it's done, just like that. That's what real love feels like. My favorite verse today is: And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8 NKJ)
