Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Today’s scriptures are about the oneness of the Father and the Son. This has been the overall theme of the devotionals this week, and what a way to end the week. Earlier this week I referenced this verse of scripture: for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. (1 Cor. 8:6) We know that God has always been the trinity, “God the Father, God Son, and God the Holy Spirit, based on very first chapter of the Bible. It’s written: Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” (Gen 1:26) After God the Father created the earth, and everything else, He decided to create us in “their” image. We were special from the beginning of time, and we’re now one with Him.
There’s a hierarchy of everything in life, it’s the way that God created it. Even in the Body of Christ, we all have different roles, some higher than others, but they’re all meant to work together to accomplish on common goal. God the Father is the creator of all things. He created mankind for companionship and fellowship, but He also created us to take care of His land (Gen. 2:5-7). God is the Father and the Creator, but Jesus is the Son, through whom all things came and through whom we live. Jesus came to earth as man, and lived like a man. He’s the Holy Redeemer, the One who spiritually connects God and man. He and God are one and the same, but they have totally different roles. Jesus gives us Spiritual freedom and salvation, so that our lives can come full circle. God created us, so He wants nothing more than to fellowship with us forever. Then there’s the Holy Spirit, who helps us stay connected moment by moment, in the Spirit. He helps up properly communicate on a Spiritual level with God, and guides us to living a righteous life. So God is our creator, through whom all things are possible, Jesus is our redeemer, through whom we become one with God, and the Holy Spirit is our Helper, who leads us through life.
What does all of this mean to you and me? It’s simple, how can you truly love someone if you don’t truly know them? Too often we sin, and live according to the ways of the world, because we don’t know any better. It’s written: So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. (Eph. 4:17-19) Humans, saved or unsaved, often live like the “Gentiles”, and that’s very dangerous. We must do our part in learning about the ways of God, so that we can truly live in truth. That truth is that we are actually one with God. He lives inside of us, and our body is His temple. He feels, sees, and hears everything we do and say, so it’s important to live right, and seek Him.
Paul went on to say: That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (Eph. 4:20-24) Hallelujah!!! We were created to be like God, and nothing less. Take your rightful place in this world, as a blessed and mighty child of God. There’s no reason why any of us can’t be exactly where we want to be—living a joyous and peaceful life! Of course we’re going to stray, and be tried, but as long as we know who we are in Him, we’ll survive, and bring other believers with us.
Do you know who you are? You are “one” with the One True God, and there’s no one else like you. You’re unique and special in your own right, so don’t ever let anyone tell you any different. God loves you just the way you are; after all He’s the one who created you that way. Jesus died so that you can only get better, so trust Him to help you get there. The Holy Spirit is there whenever you call on Him, He’ll always help show you the way. We’re covered on all sides, so have peace in knowing that you’re chosen, you’re loved, and you’re safe in God. If you don’t know Jesus as Lord, you’re a creation like everything else, but you aren’t “one” with God. To find out how to complete that circle of oneness, take a few moments to take the God Quiz today. My favorite verse today is: My Father, and your Father; ... my God and your God. (John 20:17)
