Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today’s scriptures are about learning God’s will for your life. We always teach, or are taught to follow God’s will, so we’ll have peace, joy, and happiness, but a number of Christians don’t know what that is, or how to find out. God’s Will comes with His wisdom, and the more we seek Him and ask for wisdom, the clearer understanding we’ll get of His will for us. We’ve heard the saying, “all things happen for a reason”, and that is true in so many ways, because everything was planned from the beginning of time (Jer. 1:5). It’s written: Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him (John 9:31). In order to know the Will God has for your life, you must first build a strong relationship with Him, and that’s only possible through the blood of Jesus. We can go to God, for anything, at anytime, and He’s listening, and will answer. Jesus has made us sin free, and all we have to do to stay that way is to confess our sins, and repent regularly. Secondly, communication is key, and so Paul taught us to “Pray without ceasing”, which keeps us connected with, and focused on God. Lastly, being still, and listening to the Lord. We always need quiet time, to intently listen for God’s answers to our prayers, which is imperative to having a strong relationship. When we’re in line with all of these things, there’s no way we could miss it. The beauty of all of this is that God has given us a Helper to see us through life, as well as a Savior to keep us in tuned. It’s truly exhausting trying to figure everything out on your own. Life is hard enough, without having to be concerned about every last detail. I’ve lived life worrying about what was going to happen tomorrow, and how I was going to survive, that was no fun. I’ve slaved, begged, and borrowed trying to make ends meet to no avail. I’ve tried to make a way out of no way, only for it to backfire in my face. I’ve chose yes when God said no, and went right when He said left. I’m sure you have too, and that’s a part of life. The one thing I was missing was a true relationship Jesus Christ! Until this one day these verses made a whole lot of sense to me: Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matt. 11:28-30) Our major burden is often self-sufficiency, but Jesus said “take my yoke upon you, for it is easy and light”. The one secret I want to share with you today is the fact that you cannot do it alone! No matter what you do or say, you’re not strong enough to handle life on your own. Jesus opens doors that you never could. He bridges the gap between you and God, so you’ll be able to learn all there is to know about Him and life in general. When Jesus gave us the Guideline to prayer (the Lord’s Prayer), He said “your will be done”, and in other times He prayed for strength when faced with tough decisions, He prayed “not My will, but Your will be done”. Jesus had the key to it all, and He in turn, became our key. Decrement comes from the Holy Spirit, and He’s always talking, and giving us signs to choose the “right way”. As a Christian, just know that if it doesn’t “feel right”, then it most likely isn’t. If you don’t have Jesus, then you don’t have His Holy Spirit, and without them it’s impossible to know what your Will or purpose is. There’s a very important prayer that must be said, before you’re able to take the first step on the paths of righteousness to complete God’s Will for your life. Pray and confess that you’re a sinner, ask for forgiveness, and ask Jesus to come into your heart as Lord and Savior, and then start to build that relationship with Him. He’s waiting to hear from you. My favorite verses today are: The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, ... give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe.(Ephesians 1:17-19)
