Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying the end of another workweek (for most). I'm doing very well today, but my head is spinning, because of the numerous directions I’ve been pulled in today. Who said prayer doesn't work? Surrendering to God is the best thing that I could've ever done, because He's shown me love and given me so much wisdom. There isn't anything that I ask Him for that He doesn't provide. It may not come in the exact form that I want, but it's exactly what I need. Prayer, meditation, and fellowship are necessary to keep a close bond with Him, so that you'll know that what you're asking for is in His will. I believe in praying for one another, and your prayer makes a big difference in my growth, so I thank you. If you ever need prayer please let me know, and I'll be happy to pray for you. You know one of my favorite verses: Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:16) Enjoy your weekend family, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about seeking wisdom from Christ to walk in His ways. Jesus Christ was the wisest Man to ever walk this earth, because of His sincere love for His Heavenly Father. When asked who my Hero is, my answer is always Jesus, because I strive most to be like Him. Sure, we have other people we look up to and admire, but when it comes to learning how to live a Godly life, Jesus is the first person you should examine. When we're saved, we're anointed with His Holy Spirit, and then to be baptized by water. Baptism represents us being buried with Christ, washed, and then resurrected as a new person in Him. When we start on this journey, we're tempted more than ever, and if we don't seek the right wisdom and understanding, we'll never know the power that lies within. There's nothing worst than enduring pain and heartache that you don't have to endure, especially if you had the resources, to avoid or overcome, within you all along.

Paul said: Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. (1 Cor. 9:26) Seeking the wisdom of Christ will save us a lot of time in the wilderness, going around the same mountain, over and over again. Gaining true wisdom, which comes from God, is as easy as asking, seeking, and knocking, and it will be given unto you. Once we ask Him for it, we have to seek it in His word, by regular study, and meditation. We should also seek the wisdom in every event in our lives. My belief is, that you can receive knowledge from anyone placed in your path you just have to look for it. I've learned that negativity is a waste of energy, so I intently listen when I'm having conversations with people.

To be honest, I used to be a very proud person, and wouldn't take any advice from anyone who I thought wasn’t smart or knowledgeable enough. I would listen to them speak, but I would be thinking in my head, "who are they to try to tell me how to live, I know what I'm doing". I'm so grateful God is breaking me out of that, because I’m sure I missed some valuable lessons thinking that way. God has given me the wisdom to understand that I could learn from a 5 year old child, or a homeless man with a 5th grade education, so I keep my spiritual eyes and ears open at all times. It's written: He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." (1 Cor. 1:28-31) One of the wisest lessons we learn from Jesus is to never judge each other. None of us are above the other, God has the power to make or break us. It's written: Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. (Heb. 13:1-2)

I cannot stress this enough, take some time out to read the Gospels of Christ [Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John], because they’ll teach you not only the ways of Christ, but also the knowledge of God. Jesus was wise enough to know that He couldn't do anything without God, which is a part of humility. Learning how to walk in humility, meekness, and love is the first step toward gaining an unimaginable amount of wisdom. That wisdom is the difference between the believer who never grows, and is stuck in the same helpless and hopeless situation, and the believer who continually flourishes, and is blessed with much. Lay down your burdens, confess your sins, forgive, and receive forgiveness, and you'll begin to thirst for the wisdom of Christ. All you have to do is knock, and He'll open the door and give you so much wisdom that you'll surprise yourself; I can definitely testify to that.

I want to leave you with the serenity prayer. This prayer is known to be for people we refer to as addicts. People who have gone down some rough roads, and made some poor choices, but in my opinion, I think we all have. This prayer has helped me through some rough situations, so hopefully it’ll also help you. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference..." If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, then that's the first step to becoming a stronger, wiser, and more courageous person. Please take the step to invite Him into your life, I promise you won't regret it. Let me know if you need someone to pray with, or take the God Quiz right now. My favorite verse today is: Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness. (Zephaniah 2:3)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this quiet Friday-eve. I'm doing well, but my head is spinning, because it's Thursday already. All week it's felt like I've been suspended in time, and there's one thing that needs to be pushed, in order the ball in motion, and it just isn't happening. Patience is a virtue, and definitely a skill that needs to be perfected. Practice makes perfect, and I'm trying my best to be still, but it isn't that easy for me to wait on the Lord to say move, because I’m a busybody. When we walk in the Love of God, faith, hope, and patience goes hand in hand, so we must put each into practice daily. It's written: Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Heb. 11:1) Whenever I start to lose patience I open the bible, and I usually find a verse or two saying "wait on the Lord", or "hope in the Lord", so I know that's the answer, and I can testify that He's always on time. Continue to keep me in your prayers; I feel a great testimony coming next week. Enjoy the remainder of your evening, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about awaiting Jesus' return. What does it mean to hope for, and await Jesus' return? Every human being has experienced the evils of this world, but the believer knows that there's something better waiting for us when we die. As we grow in our Spirit, we build a closer relationship with God, and start to separate ourselves from the ways of the world. As we experience God's love, we start to long for the day that we would be with Him for all eternity. Each day we can rejoice that we're one step closer to the coming of the Lord.
Eagerly awaiting Jesus’ return has nothing to do with wanting to die, but it's the exact opposite. I don't know many people that say they can't wait to die to go be with the Lord, but I do know people who are so filled with the Spirit that they aren’t afraid of dying. Especially if that means that they'll enter into their final resting place, and be able to fellowship with God face to face. That type of attitude usually comes with Spiritual maturity, because you've spent enough time with God to know who He really is. When you get to this point in your Faith walk, you welcome the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, because you know He brings life in eternal bliss, and relief from the suffering of the world.
The fact that "All things will be made new", was revealed to the Lord's faithful servant John, and Jesus spoke to Him and said: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Rev. 21:3-4) Can you imagine a life with no pain, sickness, or sorrow? We know that as long as we're in the flesh those things are certain, because of the wicked and perverse world we live in.
We have the living Word of God to teach us the truth, and give instruction on how to be prepared for the coming of Jesus. Remember, "we know the day nor the hour", so we must be looking for Him at all times. It's written: For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. (Titus 2:11-14) According to the Apostle Paul, expecting Jesus' return will help us live Godly lives on purpose. It also helps keep us aware of Jesus' presence now, and to come, which will makes us eager to do "good works".
If you know you had 6 months to live, what would do? I could only speak for what I would do, and to be honest with you, I've thought about that a lot, especially with the AIDS, Swine Flu, and Cancer epidemics. These things don't have a direction, they could happen to anyone. However, we normally discover the disease before we actually die from it, so we have time to prepare for death, and "get our life right". Jesus’ return isn't dated, so we have to be prepared, and waiting on Him at all times. I know it sounds like an urban legend, just something people have been waiting for for over 2,000 years, but it can and will happen. Jesus gave us "The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age", and most are happening today, but He said this is only the beginning, so we still can't know for sure. None of us will be able to predict it, or "get prepared" for it, because He's coming like a "thief in the night".
I urge all of you to look forward to Jesus' return with great joy in knowing that you've "fought a good fight, and are prepared to finish the race". My previous Pastor used to ask this question just about every Sunday, and it's been very sobering for me. He asked: What will Jesus say to you when He appears, "well done good and faithful servant" or "depart from me I do not know you"? I do my best to walk in step with God each day, not only because I don't want to disappoint or let Him down, but also because I want to be a good and faithful servant. I'm by no means perfect, and He has much more work to do in me, but I do know that when you love someone, you want him or her to be pleased with you. Because I love and reverence Him so much, I adamantly repent for my sins, and seek His face daily.
Please don't take this message lightly, because I want to see each of you in Heaven. I make it a point to tell you each day how much He loves you, and how simple it is to receive salvation. Jesus is coming back, but you may physically die before that happens, so what happens then? It's written: We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. (2 Cor. 5:8) When a believer’s Spirit leaves this body, we will go be with the Lord. But for a unbeliever it's written: The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Matt. 13:41-42) These are facts that come from the Word of God and you can choose not to believe them, but I strongly advise against it. Take a few moments to take Dr. Stanley's God Quiz today! My favorite verse today is: Unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. (Hebrews 9:28)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this beautiful "hump day". I'm doing well, and am very blessed. It's amazing how much I'm calming down, as I get older. I guess you could say that I'm a very passionate person, so when I’ve started a task, I don't stop until it is done. If it isn’t done, I'm constantly thinking of ways to get it done, leaving me restless until it's completed. It's getting better, but in some cases worst, because I’m much more meticulous now. However, with maturity, I understand that things will only happen in God's perfect timing, I can't make it happen any faster. When we jump ahead of God, things tend to get all screwed up, believe me I know. The best day of my life was when I finally realized this: Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7) You mean to tell me that this is all I had to do to get a little peace? Well praise God for that! God is so wonderful, and I'm so in love with Him! Would you say that you're "in love" with God? If your answer is no, then the only way to fall in love with Him is to make an effort to get to know who He is. Have a wonderful day family, and be blessed!

Today's scriptures are about walking in love. There's one thing that say you love someone, then there's another thing to actually Love someone. The Apostle Paul describes love as the "Greatest Gift", and I fully agree with him on that. The ability to love is a wonderful privilege, which many of us take for granted. In Paul’s letter, he reminded us that yes he could speak in tongues, had the gift of prophecy, and had enough faith that could move a mountain, but without love he was nothing. He also wrote that he could’ve given everything he had to the poor, and sacrificed his body to be burned, but without love it "profits him nothing". I love the Apostle Paul’s epistles, because he's straight forward, and I think that's because he's experienced both sides of the spectrum. He experienced evil and hatred, as well as the love of Christ, so he knows exactly what the average human being goes though. He pretty much lets us know that it's not what you do, but how you do it. There's no need to do anything, if you're not doing it out of love.

The King James versions used the word "charity" in the place of love. Charity is a word we use to describe giving to a worthy cause. It doesn’t matter if it's your time, material possessions, or money. Charity is considered all of the things we give from the heart, but don't expect anything in return. I end all of my devotionals with telling you that "I love you", and I mean that. I love each of you, even those of you I’ve never met. I love you because you are a child of God. I want you to have the best out of life, and experience everything that God has to offer, because Jesus is in my heart, and that's just what happens when we surrender to Him. I can honestly say that I don't hate anyone, nor carry any grudges. If I see you on the street in need, and I'm able to help I would, and it doesn't matter what type of history we have. That's what it means to walk in love. When Jesus said Love your neighbor as yourself, there was no clause with that. He never said, “Love your neighbor unless…" or "only if…”

Paul writes: Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails... (1 Cor. 13:4-8) Love is a very powerful thing! It gives us strength to take another step, when we're in so much pain that it feels like we can't go on. It allows us to stay humble, since we're able to think of someone other than ourselves, because we're not looking to be served, but to serve. It allows us to see the good in everything and everyone, since we're seeing things through the eyes of the Lord, because He is love! Love allows everyone to see God in us, because we're calmer, happier, and more peaceful, so it shows in the way we interact with people. When we love someone we can't envy them, because we only want what's best for them, so we're happy when they're blessed. Having true love in our heart allows us to see the error of our ways, so we're very much convicted when we're doing wrong, and we feel good inside when we do right.

In my opinion the most important part of these verses is "Love never fails". What did Paul mean by that? How many of us have been hurt, or let down by someone who claimed that they loved us? Paul goes on to say: ...But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. (1 Cor. 13:8-10) We are currently in the flesh, so we're tempted, tried, and tested often, and sometimes we fall short. Our once carnal mind is what allows us to still hate, anger, hurt, lie, envy, be selfish and unforgiving, and God understands that. The love of Jesus Christ is what will help us overcome those things, and like Paul says, "Put away our childish ways". The unconditional love that he spoke about comes with Spiritual maturity. We have to practice saying, "you hurt me but I'm going to love you anyway", that's where the "as we forgive those who trespass against us" part of the Lord's Prayer comes in. There are so many different things that could set us off, because we're only human, but always remember God's love never fails. When we're continually reminded of that, then we can truly walk in love, and God will take care of the rest. He's our protector, provider, and healer, so what more could we ask for?

It doesn't matter who you are or what you’ve done in the past, saved or unsaved, God loves you. We all have experienced our fair share of ups and downs, and the number one question of the unbeliever or the lost believer, is "If God loves me why did he let this (or that) happen?" and that's a question that only He could answer. However, God has a reason for everything, and only self-examination, and consistent fellowship with Him will reveal that. The key to receiving real love is to pray and ask Jesus to be Lord of your life; I promise He won't let you down. There are many people that have, and will, but Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. My favorite verse today is: My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. (1 John 3:18)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this beautiful "terrific Tuesday". I'm doing well, feeling a lot better today, and it was truly a beautiful morning. I was listening to Dr. Stanley’s teaching series on the "Desires of Your Heart", and it has me thinking about my future, and the things I want out of life. I guess as I'm approaching another birthday, it feels like I need to do some prioritizing and organizing, but its hard being a "grown-up" sometimes. I remember being a teenager, or in my early twenties, when things like this didn't really cross my mind, because I was too busy having fun, partying, and exploring. Now I'm entering the best years of my life, and I want to be sure that my desires match up with God's will for my life. It's written: Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalms 37:4) I wanted to share this challenge with you, so let's take some time to think about what we desire most out of life, then the second thing, third, etc., and then ask yourself why. Are your desires and reasons falling within the Law of God? Will you make a difference for His Kingdom? Be sure to answer these questions honestly, because no one will benefit from this but you. You can listen to these shows by going to the Audio Archives, part 1 aired yesterday and part 2 is today. Enjoy the remainder of your day family, and be blessed!

Today's scriptures are about the symmetry of Jesus and God. As I was reading the scriptures and the word symmetry rang in my Spirit. This is the perfect word to describe the connection between God and Jesus. I looked it up and found several definitions, and the one I thought would be most fitting to the message I'm attempting to communicate today is: beauty based on or characterized by such excellence of proportion. I chose this one because in my opinion Jesus and God being one and the same, yet two totally different entities, is the epitome of "excellence of proportion". I read further and saw the mathematic definition, and I thought this one was fitting as well: a rotation or translation of a plane figure that leaves the figure unchanged although its position may be altered. This is absolutely awesome! The Holy Trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit fits this definition, because we receive God at all of these different angles, yet He’s still the one Almighty God. He came as the Son, the Savior and Lord of all, and lived a life as a human being, just as you and I. Once the Son died and was resurrected, He came as the Holy Spirit, and lives in the heart of each believer, but no matter how you rotate or translated it, God remains “unchanged although His position is altered”.
It's written: “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. (John 14:7-11) Jesus shared the fact that He and the Father are one with His followers often, yet they still didn't understand what He was saying. I'm sure many people still don’t get it, but Jesus assures us that if we're looking for God, we have seen God through Him. They go hand and hand, and we can't have one without the other, because they’re symmetrical.
What does this mean for us? Jesus goes on to say: ...I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. (John 14:20) From the beginning, God created man in His own image, so it was only logical that He came back as man, to dwell amongst us, and show Himself to us. He gave us a living example of what we were created to do, and how we’re to conduct ourselves. As Jesus, God taught us His ways, and showed His love to everyone around Him. He was faithful, kind, selfless, wise, and caring; all the things that we're meant to be. He now dwells inside of us, to give us the power to overcome the flesh, and the darkness of the world. We have that power by the blood of Jesus, and we can ask anything in His name, by faith, and it shall be done. Jesus once said, that with enough faith, we could tell a mountain to be cast into the sea, and it shall be done (Matt 11:20-24). We have inherited the Kingdom of God, so we're royalty. The enemy no longer has dominion over our lives, and we're free to live in peace.
God coming as the Son also gave us tangible evidence of His existence. As if the miracles Jesus preformed wasn't enough proof, the love He showed to everyone He came in contact with, showed us the softer side of God. Jesus never judged anyone, and He offers everyone a second chance at life. He dedicated His time to mentoring, and teaching anyone who wanted to listen. He healed anyone who trusted Him enough, and believe that He could. He lived His life to please His Father in Heaven, and defended His good Name. These lessons are priceless, because although we have moral laws to abide by, we aren't really equipped to with the Spiritual foundation, because those things are often shown and given to us. How could one know love, if he hasn't truly experienced it? God created us in such a way that we'd have to depend on Him for everything in life, so without Him, we're not operating at our maximum ability. He came as Jesus to make us complete and whole, and we now have the ability to live in love, and above the world.
I'm so grateful for Jesus Christ, because through Him I am not only saved, but I could fellowship with my Heavenly Father, without the hindrance of sin. What a mighty God we serve! He has made that possible for everyone. If you don't know Jesus as Lord, then you have no idea what you're missing. You no longer have to feel empty inside, simply accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and learn whom He is. He and the Father are one, and you have a chance to become a part of their symmetry. My favorite verses today are: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. (Colossians 1:14-15)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

Today's scriptures are about having the faith to go out and receive your inheritance. We are joint heirs to the Kingdom of God. By the blood of Jesus Christ, we have been adopted, and are now children of God. With this gift comes an inheritance, and God has something different for each of us, all we have to do is follow His lead. We’re washed in the blood of the Lamb, so we could see our paths clearer, as His light lives inside of us. It’s written: looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Heb. 12:3) Although Jesus went through some trials, and experienced hurt and pain, He’s received His inheritance, which will also ensure that we receive ours. AMEN!
When we think about all of the stories in the bible, God gave each person He used a glimpse of what they would inherit. For example, the people of Israel, who were enslaved in Egypt, were to inherit a “Land flowing with milk and honey”. It’s written: So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey… (Ex. 3:8) God always gives us a vision, or a glimpse into our future, but only gives us step by step instructions as we go along. It’s up to us to follow Him. The people of Israel wandered in the wilderness for forty years, going around the same mountain, because of disobedience. Take note, God never took their inheritance away from them, but He waited until they were ready to receive, before it was granted. Do you sometimes feel like you’re in the wilderness? Take a few moments to pray and ask God to reveal the correct path to you, and don’t forget to repent for your sins.
Next, there’s the story of Joseph, who was shown his inheritance in a dream. Unfortunately, Joseph’s dream led to his brothers hating him, because he would ultimately become a great Ruler, and they would have to bow down to him. It’s written: Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. He said to them, "Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it." (Gen. 37:5-7) Him telling his older brothers that they were going to bow to them didn’t sit well with them, but he had faith in this dream becoming reality. Joseph’s story is very encouraging, because he always stayed faithful and true to God. Although he suffered much tribulation at the hands of his own brothers, throughout his young adult life, he never gave up. God never gave him more than he could handle.
The key to living abundantly, is to accept God’s will for our life, because He knows what’s best for each of us, so we must be ready and willing to surrender to His calling. He created us for a particular purpose, and when we’re obedient, and prepared, we’ll receive our inheritance. We might have to endure some pain, or some uncomfortable situations at times, but God is still there, and still working on our behalf, just don’t give up on Him. Continue to stay faithful and true, and love Him with all of your heart.
You may be thinking, “what makes me qualified to receive an inheritance?”, well God is your Heavenly Father, and through Him anything’s possible. You are so very important to Him please believe me. It’s written: Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Matt. 10:29) I want to leave you with one of the most popular bible passages in the world, Psalms 23. It’s very fitting for today’s message, because we need to understand that God is always with us, no matter what, and He’s working out, just keep believing that He is. You’re meant to do something very great, it may not be great according to the world’s standards, but according to the His purpose and Holy will. In the end that’s all that matters. Please make sure that you know Jesus, without Him, it’s impossible to please God; you can’t truly receive your inheritance. Take the God Quiz today! My favorite verse today is: He led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. (Deuteronomy 32:10)

The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying the end of another workweek (for most). I'm doing well but fell behind a lot today. I’m looking forward to starting my weekend of fun filled packing. It's been a long week, but I've been blessed to get through it in good health and good Spirits. Despite anything that's going on in my life, God is always good to me, and I can't complain about anything. It's so refreshing when you have those types of epiphanies. Sometimes we must take time to count our blessings, and then praise God for them. Things could be, and in most cases, have been worst. I love my life, and I wouldn't want to be in anyone else’s shoes. God has allowed me such a heart that I've learned to be grateful for everything. Enjoy the remainder of evening, and have an even better weekend. Be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about preparing for the end. The one thing that's for certain in the life of every human being is the fact that it will end. There will come a time when our number will be called, our flesh will perish, and we'll go on to eternity. This will happen in one of two ways, we will physically die from some type of ailment or physical harm, or Jesus will return to receive those of us who love Him. None of us know when either of these will happen; I could die in a freak accident an hour from now, and go on to meet the Lord and stand Judgment. As well as, Jesus could appear, just as it's written: Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matt. 24:30-31) With this being said, the one very important question you need to ask yourself is this, “Are you one of His Elects?"
I know so many people who are called, but choose to wait until they're "ready" to surrender to God, and that is very dangerous. Why put off until tomorrow, what you can do today? Maybe you've been mislead to think that you have to be "ready" to receive Jesus as Lord, but that is far from the truth. One of my favorite gospel songs is "Me Again", by J. Moss. He begins this song with, "Forgive me oh Lord, it's me again, I've disobeyed your Word, slipped out of your will, remorseful I stand, me again." The first time I heard this song, I felt a sense of relief, because it helped me realize that it wasn't just me. Here is this man of God, who's dedicated his life to God's work, confessing how imperfect he is in a song, and God still uses him to do His work. I learned a lot from the last line of this song as well, he said, "I stand before you broken, I want to fixed today, do it for me again". God loves the righteous, and part of being righteous starts with admitting that you're broken, and surrounding to Him daily, with complete humility, asking to be fixed. You don't have to be without sin to be saved, simply come as you are. Jesus will be right there to receive you. It's written: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise. (Psalms 51:17) If you aren’t saved, or have strayed away from God because you thought you wasn't good enough, or perfect enough, then don't use that as an excuse anymore, because time isn't on your side.
We only have one life to live, so we have to make the best of this life. Everything we do counts towards our eternity, whether good or bad. God is a fair and just God, and will never go back on His Word, so He allows us to freely choose our path. He has a will for us, but He won’t make us chose Him. It's our responsibility to make sure that we're being good representatives of Him, because He's always watching. Also, we never know when Jesus will appear, and we don't want to be caught doing something that's displeasing in His sight. When we grow in our Spirit, we become more and more aware of everything we do. My dad once told me to "always remember, ignorance is never a defense for breaking the law". Jesus is more lenient on those who don't know any better, but at the same time, we're instructed to seek the truth.
Remember, this life is a Race to the finish, and we're all going to reach the same goal, at different times. I like the way Paul explains it: Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. (1 Cor. 9:24-27 NIV) The most interesting thing about this race that we're running is that we're essentially competing against our flesh, and only one could win. Jesus said: "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." (Mark 14:38)
When it's your time, don't you want to be as confident as Paul? He wrote this in his letter to Timothy near the end of his life: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (2Tim 4:7-10) If you haven't accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, you haven't been running this race of life to win. In order to come out victorious, you must accept Jesus as Lord. Take a few moments to pray to God. Confess that you're a sinner, and let Him know that you want to be forgiven. You can even tell him "I stand before you broken, I need to fixed today", and He'll do just that. Remember, you are incapable of changing your life on your own, that's why Jesus lives today! Ask Jesus to be Lord of your life; don't wait another day, because you may not see tomorrow. My favorite verse today is: The end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. (1 Peter 4:7)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this hot Friday-eve. I was outside at 9am, and it was already 92F, wow! It's been a crazy summer in the DC area, and I can't say that I've ever seen a summer like this in my life. The winter was record breaking, and the summer is even worst. We had an earthquake that measured 3.6 in the area, a few days ago, and I've seen a few tornado warnings on the News. Are you still praying for our nation? I know it’s written, “Nothing is new under the sun”, but I don't know what's going on. I suggest that those of you who are still wavering in your faith, and contemplating what you should and shouldn't believe, try to find the truth quickly, and stay in prayer. We need to pray for our leaders, and each other. Our country was built on biblical principles, those things are quickly fading away, and if we aren't careful we'll continue to experience the wrath of God. It takes each individual to get involved, because our prayers don't go unnoticed. Enjoy the remainder of your day family, and be blessed!

Today's scriptures are about Jesus baring our sins forever. Because of Jesus' unselfish act of surrendering His life, the state of mankind has been forever changed. He's delivered us from the bondage of sin forever, because of His unconditional love for us. People that believe in Him, from then forward, never have to worry about being separated from God, that's a reason to rejoice! As we think about the message Jesus portrays, and who He is, we should be giving Him praise every single day. Jesus offers peace, joy, happiness, contentment, strength, love, compassion, salvation, and much more. He lived, died, and lived again, in order to restore life in every human being. He took on the one thing that condemned us forever, the largest three-letter word, SIN! It's written: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 6:23)
Sin was introduced to the human race by the very first man created, and from then the consequence of death reigned. Adam's sin also introduced free will, which allows us to choose right from wrong. The consequences of sin may not necessarily mean that you will physically die, but something will die in your life, because you made the choice to do it. In the Old Testament, according to the Law of Moses, certain sins did warrant physical death, but this message is true for physical or spiritual death because of sin. It's written: “Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; a person shall be put to death for his own sin." (Deut. 24:16) You are responsible for you, so you can’t blame someone else for you choices in life, and because of Jesus you don’t have too. He paid the sin debt in full, once, and for all.
It's amazing how life works, because the actions of one man introduced death to all mankind, but the grace of another introduced life. It's written: Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:18-19) Both Jesus and Adam made choices with their life, and each one had consequences, both good and bad. Sin came like a plague, and spreads rapidly throughout mankind, but there was only one man who has never sinned. With that in mind, God gave His Son as a Holy sacrifice for our sins. His blood cleanses the soul of all who believes in Him.
Before Jesus went to the cross, He knew what He had to face, and He did it willingly. His love gave Him the strength to endure all that was done to Him. You are a part of the reason He went to the cross. He loved each of us, equally, and His grace and mercy is offered to whomever is open to receive. Jesus wants us to have peace, and life in abundance, so He paid the ultimate price to make that possible. Sin was the problem, so He rectified that problem on the cross. Living with sin is too much for us to bear, because it brings darkness into our life. Through Him we can be forgiven for any sin we've ever committed, which is the light that replaces that darkness. You can’t sin too much to be forgiven, so just confess to God that you’re a sinner, and ask for His forgiveness. Once that's done, you're as good as forgiven.
It takes too much energy to waver in your faith because of guilt, shame, or regret, so lay those burdens down. Jesus has already taken care of it for you. There is no fee to be forgiven, the only thing He wants us to do is allow Him to love us. He's given up His life so that we could have one, and He only expects us to spread His love to others. When you read about Jesus you'll see that He never judged, nor condemned anyone. He showed us how to live a life of righteousness, and taught us what it took to truly live with a clear mind and a full heart. Learn about Him, and His life, and it'll give you so much hope. The one thing He pushes is faith, faith, faith, because He's already taken care of the hard part. He said in believe and Me and I'll do the rest; just ask Me and it's done, and just seek My love, because it's already here waiting on you. The secret to having the "good life" isn't really a secret at all. Jesus has been here for thousand of years, and He'll be around forever more.
Get to know Him for who He is, but allow Him to be Lord of your life, and I promise you won't regret it. What does the mean? Take a few moments and take the God Quiz today, you'll find some wonderful answers there. My favorite verse today is: Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many. Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about circumcising your heart. According to an Author Mr. Michael Glass, "Circumcision cuts off the foreskin, the sexually sensitive sleeve of tissue that normally covers and protects the head of the penis." Mr. Glass’ definition of the physical act of circumcision gives us a little more detail than the dictionary. According to the early Law, circumcision was started with Abram as a covenant with God, it's written: This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised; and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you. (Gen 17:10-11) According to other biblical scholars, circumcision was performed as a witness, to permanently remind the people of Israel the need to Obey God's laws. This author goes on to say: For example, the covenant between Jacob and Laban was witnessed by a stone marker (Genesis 31:46-48). God's covenant with Noah and the world was witnessed by the rainbow (Genesis 9:12-16). In Abram's case, God asked that he and all his male descendents who entered into the covenant carry the reminder of the covenant in their own flesh. (~La Vista Church)

The act of circumcision is still a controversial subject today, but most people practice it on their newborn sons, but not all do it because it's the Law of God. It's argued to be medically safer or cleaner for the male, but there are just as many pros as there are cons in certain medical journals. Biblically, it no longer matters whether you're circumcised or uncircumcised. Just as I mentioned a few days ago, people still stress over the laws of what they should eat, or whether a woman should cover her head in church, etc. None of these matter because we will not be judged upon those things, but we'll be judge on our heart, and how much we love. We have the Holy Spirit as a witness of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and He's more than enough. I'm not telling you to abandon you're culture, or the way you've been taught to dress, eat, circumcise or not to circumcise, but I am telling you make sure to focus more on the Love of God.

I remember a time when I was torn between paying my tithe to the church and helping someone in need. I went to my Pastor, and asked him was I wrong for taking the money that I intended to sow into the church, and use it for someone in need. I was taught to bring your tithes into the storehouse, and to sow into God's work and ministry, so I didn't want to disobey that command. My Pastor told me that he thought it would be wrong for me to skip over a person in need, in order to follow that law. Jesus taught us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, and I couldn't be wrong for sacrificing one act of love for another.

Instead of focusing so much on God's commandment of physical circumcision, we’re now commanded to circumcise our heart. In my opinion, we experience so much evil, hatred, bitterness, and anger in life, that our heart builds a shield of sorts, to protect itself. If Jesus taught us to "love God with all our heart", how could we honestly do so, when we've built up all of this extra "skin" around it? This skin is naturally there for protection, but in most cases what’s meant to protect things from getting in, also protects them from coming out.

In order to circumcise our heart we must examine it. We must be sure that we've confessed and repented for all sins. We must also forgive those who have wronged us in the past. It hinders us more to hold on to grudges, than it does to let them go, and forgive. Shedding the victim mentality, and learning how to acknowledge God in everything, allows us a better opportunity to love. For example, if you lose your job, instead of asking, "what am I going to do now?” try to asking, "God what do you want me to do now, and how is this going to make me better person?" Changing your outlook on life comes with circumcising the heart.

Paul taught us that those who willfully sin against God try to hold on to old laws and old traditions, thinking that they're justified because of them. However, if you don't believe in Jesus Christ, but you were circumcised according to the Law, you still will not see the Kingdom of God. If that were the case you’d have to follow each law to the letter, including all Ten Commandments, which we know we've all broken at least one. Paul said it best: You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. (Gal. 5:4-6 NIV)

If you don't know Jesus, you don't truly know God, because Jesus opened that gateway directly to the Father. Through Christ, you could go to God for anything, at anytime, and He will be open to you, no matter your circumcision status, or anything else for that matter. Without Jesus, you run the risk of your heart growing cold and filled with so many unnecessary hurts and pains. All you have to do is to let go, and allow Jesus carry those burdens for you. He died to set us free! Say that very important prayer today, if you need my help let me know! My favorite verse today is: Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers. (Romans 15:8)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about overcoming the world, through Jesus Christ. I've heard this statement so many times in the early days of my faith walk, and I always wondered what it meant to “overcome the world”. The more I grow in my Spirit, the more I get it; a little more is revealed to me each day, and it's all proven in the Word of God. The first thing that we should know is that the only way for us to over come the world is to be washed by the blood of Jesus, and then to live by His principles and teachings. Most importantly, we must follow His lead, because He is our Shepherd. Jesus said: "...in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:32-33)

Most believers don’t live as if we have overcome the world, because it's so easy to stay slaves to the flesh, and succumb to temptation. However, we don't have accept the things that the enemy throw at us each day, because we've been freed from the bondage of sin, by the blood of Christ. As long as we focus on these three major things, taught to us by the Apostle Paul, we'll truly be able to live by God’s truth. It's written: And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor. 13:13)
No matter what's going on in our life we must have Faith in the almighty Lord. He promised us that the righteous wouldn’t be forsaken, whatever we ask in Jesus' Name will be given, and that He'll supply our every need. We must have Hope in His promises, because hope and faith goes hand and hand. We mustn’t be afraid to dream big, because there's nothing too big for or God. Lastly, but the greatest of them all, we must Love God with all of our heart, as well as love everyone around us. Jesus has done His part, He's already overcome the world, so there's nothing left for us to do but trust in Him.

It's written: Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John 5:1-5) Now I want you to stop for a moment and take a deep breath. Breathe in deep through your nose, hold it for a few seconds, and then breathe out of your mouth. Now do that two more times. Doesn't that feel better? I want you to understand that letting go, and letting God, is like taking a deep breath, and on that exhale, you're must release all that holds you in bondage. Remember, through Christ you're a new creature. You’re not of this world, but you live by the Spirit, so ALL things are possible.

Yes, we must follow the earthly rules, and respect hierarchy, but we must also understand that what God has built up, no man could tear down. When God has a will for you to complete, He'll make sure you complete it. Your life has been predestined, and He's already worked it all out for your good, your only responsibility is to Love Him. In that love, seek His face, study His Word, and walk in His ways. Try your very best to keep His commandments, but He's quick to forgive when you fall short. Sin is no longer an issue, and resources have never been an issue, because we serve the Alpha and the Omega (Rev 22:13).
You are the only one who could hold you back in life, especially when you lack any of the three most important things, "faith, hope, and love". You are a child of God, which means that you are someone special. You have legion of Angels watching over you, the Holy Spirit guiding you, and the Son of God making intercession for you in Heaven, all you need to do is take advantage of the free gifts of God. When trouble comes knocking at your door, stand up strong and tell the enemy “you have no power over me, I'm more than a conqueror through Christ”. Did you know that it's possible to go through trials and still have joy and peace in your heart, and praise God? The only way to do that is trust in Jesus Christ our Lord.

The first thing you must do is trusts Him with your life. It's time to surrender. Go to God in prayer right now, and confess your sins, and ask Jesus to come into you life as Lord and Savior. Once that's done victory is yours. You can then walk with the authority of Christ, and allow Him to go to work in your life. Don’t misconstrue this message, because most of these things aren’t easy to do, and we'll struggle with the flesh our entire life. Nonetheless, each day we trust in the Lord, the struggle gets a bit easier, until the enemy's attacks seem like a small annoyance, rather than these life changing catastrophes that we make every trial out to be. To make this possible, you have to completely surrender, and allow Him to do His work. My favorite verses today are: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation. (Philippians 2:15)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

Today's scriptures are about the One and only Jesus Christ. Jesus was the most powerful human being who ever walked this earth. There was no Christ before Him, and none will come after Him. He's the messiah, the Holy One, the Savior, and the true Son of God. The only way to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven is by the blood of Jesus Christ. That's an exciting revelation, but how many people will perish eternally, because they don't believe in the Son of God? There are many different religious theories, including Christianity, but ultimately there's only ONE truth. In my opinion, it doesn't matter which denomination you worship under, as long as your church believes and teaches Salvation through the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

The stories of Christ are much more than just a history lesson. His life was meant to teach more than theology, but it was meant to give us power through His blood. When we read the Gospels of Jesus Christ, we learn so many fascinating truths about Him, and He's done things that no other human being has done before. The most important of His different acts and wonders was His own resurrection, because no other man has the power to do that. Yes, He brought Lazarus back from the dead, but Lazarus couldn't do that on His own. God loved Him so much, not just because He was His Son, but also because He was 100% obedient to the will of God. Jesus said: “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” (John 10:17-18)

When I first read the Gospels, I was so amazed at the many different wonders of Jesus Christ, and I had to keep reminding myself, that this was real. Jesus was really on this earth, living and breathing just like you and I. He really healed the sick, and casted out demons. He really did walk on water, and He did all of these things, by the strength given to Him from God. His disciples did some of these things with power bestowed upon them from Christ, and through their Faith in that power. When Paul said, "I can do all things through Christ", he meant that with all of his heart, because He knew the power of having faith in Him. He knew Jesus lived because He proved Himself real in Paul’s life, and He does the same in yours and mine.

Jesus reveals Himself to us more often than we realize, and His presence is made known in many things around us. We all have testimonies of how we were saved from death, or protected in an accident. Times where things should've went terribly wrong, but we remained unharmed. Also when we pray and/or worship together, He's in our presence. He said: “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matt 18:19-20) I remember a person posed the question to me, "Why do I have to go to Church every Sunday, doesn't Jesus still love me if I don't?” and my only answer was yes, Jesus loves you, but fellowship with other Christians is necessary to be obedient to God.

I remember one Sunday I was sitting in church listening to the sermon. My heart was so heavy, and I felt so alone. I looked around at all of the people there, and I wondered how many of them felt the same things that I felt. All of a sudden I felt warmth, as if I had just been hugged, and I smiled. I had a vision of Jesus in a long white robe, walking up and down the isles, putting His arms around the shoulders of people who may have been burdened. I saw Him go from pew to pew, to certain people, and some He rubbed their back, some He kissed their forehead, and some He simply stood over them and placed both hands on their shoulders. A tear came to my eye, because it was then that I realized that Jesus was really there. As believers in Christ, when we enter a true Church of God, we should feel the presence of Jesus. You can only do that by genuinely seeking His Spirit when you go to Church. Don't go simply out of obligation, but go to learn, praise, and seek Christ, so you could be one step closer to being a better you, and a better Christian. According to the Word of God, He'll be there, or anywhere else you chose to fellowship with other believers.

Jesus is the most controversial subject in history. Some people believe in Him, but say He was a Prophet or disciple, but not the Son of God. Some people believe in God, but not Jesus, and think that as long as they're a good person, they could get into the Heaven. I am here to tell you that Jesus is the only way to God. How do I know that He's real? I know He's real because He reveals Himself to me daily. I know He's real because I communicate with His Holy Spirit. I know He's real, because I feel His presence. Now those are some of my reasons, but I'm sure you have reasons of your own. You're on a personal journey with Christ, and you should seek Him for yourself. Don't believe in Him simply because I, or anyone else, tells you too, but seek the truth. He has a calling on your life, and you'll know when to answer it, when the time is right, but don't wait too long. Try Him out, and I promise you won't regret it. He's a simple prayer away, and I'll be happy to pray with you anytime day or night. My favorite verses today are: Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, ... be glory. (Eph 3:20-21)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Today's scriptures are about being born into Royal Priesthood, by the blood of Jesus Christ. Did you know that you're considered a Priest? A Priest is teacher of the Word of God, a leader, counselor, and one who encourages his (or her) fellow brothers and sisters with the love of God. He (or she) serves God in all that he does, makes it his personal responsibility to keep His commandments, and shares the Gospel of Christ. In the world, a Priest is the head of a church organization, but in Christ, he's much more than that. In the church, he may also be called a Pastor, Minister, Rabbi, Reverend, etc.
Jesus was known as the "Chief Priest" and He taught us how to effectively work for God. Through Him, we should walk with authority, integrity, and with faith in knowing that we are anointed with the Holy Spirit, which gives us the privilege and ability to share the love of God with others. We're all vessels that He uses to touch others in many different ways. Service is a part of the Law to love God and love your neighbor, so we should wear our title with honor and truth.
You may be thinking to yourself, "how could I possible be a Priest, I'm not qualified to do that?" and I know this because that's something that I struggle with often. When I was first called to share His Word through writing daily devotionals, it kind of snuck up on me. I was urged to forward a small message with daily devotional scriptures that I received via e-mail. It started off as three or four sentences, explaining how my day was going, and what that day’s message meant to me. Then the urge became stronger, and I started to thirst for more knowledge. All of a sudden the messages that were delivered through me became stronger, the list of recipients grew longer, and a few years later I look up, and I have a ministry. There's not a day that goes by that the enemy doesn't try to convince me that I'm not smart enough, anointed enough, perfect enough, or qualified enough to teach the word of God. However, each day my Spirit matures a little more, I become a little wiser, and the message is a little better. After all, the blood of Jesus gives us the authority to minister the Word of God, so we don't all have to go to seminary, especially if we don’t feel that calling. If your Spirit leads you to tell a friend about Jesus, or to share your testimony, you'll be doing an injustice if you don't follow His lead. Doing the right thing, helping someone in need, offering prayer, and gathering with people for bible study are all duties of a Priest.
It's written: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. (Eph. 1:3-6) Paul started out his letter to the Ephesians with this very special message. He let them know that we are adopted sons (and daughters) of God, through Christ, and that alone gives us the ability to be anything we want to be. As long as we're serving Him, and following His will, we'll be blessed with all of the tools and wisdom required to be Priests, and share the Word of God. We cannot get sidetracked or caught up with what other people think, because God said He chose us “to be holy and blameless in his sight”, and that’s all that matters.
Being a Priest isn't always a glamorous job. It's said that conversations about politics and/or religion are sure ways to lose a few friends, and I could surely testify to that. Jesus warned us to be careful about what people would try to do and say to us, and what to expect, because we live in a wicked and perverse nation. They actually beat and killed our Chief Priest, so just imagine the reception could get, when we come in His Name. Jesus said: If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. (John 15:19-21) These are some heavy words, and it almost makes you think, "if I'm going to be persecuted, why even bother?" and I have a one word answer to that question, "Obedience". Because of our obedience we'll be filled with God’s awesome love, joy, and peace that surpasses all understanding. His love will radiate in and through us, and cause us to better love our brothers and sisters, which will make us want the same for them. We'll get to a point where all we can talk about is the love of God, and don't care what anyone thinks about it. Remember Dr. Stanley's quote "Obey God and leave the consequences up to Him"?
As believers in Christ Jesus, we're given awesome gifts, however, we're also expected to give a little as well. We enter into a covenant with God, and all He expects from us is love. He doesn't expect us to be perfect human beings, or to never make mistakes, but He expects us to rely on Him in our weakness, and praise Him through all circumstances. Considering our gift of eternal life alone, is that too much to ask? If you are not a believer of Christ, but feel like something’s missing in your life, that's probably it. It's not an accident that you're right here right now. If after reading this you want to learn more, here's a great resource for you, take the God Quiz today, I promise you want regret it. My favorite verse today is: Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; and hast made us unto our God kings and priests. (Revelations 5:9-10)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

Today's scriptures are about following the will of God. Thinking back on my personal faith walk, there aren't many sermons, devotionals, or bible studies I've heard, written, read, or attended that didn't mention the "Will of God". However, a lot of us are confused as to what God's will is for us. One of the most asked questions about following the will of God is, "How do I know what God's will is for my life?” That's a very valid and necessary question to ask, because there's nothing worst than doing something you think is right, but it’s outside of God’s will. The very first step of falling into the will of God is accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. Once you do that, you're blessed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, who's here to help us every step of the way. Next, we must build a strong prayer life, and ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Lastly, but most importantly, we must seek His will in the Word of God. The Holy Bible holds all of the answers to the questions we have about life. If you want to know, what's considered right or wrong, and what falls under His Law, then that's the key.
We were created to complete particular tasks in this life, so God had a will for us since the beginning of time. He knew exactly what role we would play in His Kingdom, and He intends for us to complete a good work. Now I, nor anyone else, could tell you what His will is for your life, because each person has His own unique walk. He went to great lengths to make us all separate, but equal. We each have separate DNA, but have the same sinful nature.
God knows how easily distracted we are, so He gave His Son, as an offer of Salvation. Jesus was born to solely teach us the love of God, and be our sacrificial Lamb. While in the flesh, He had a direct connection with God, so He knew exactly what He had to do, and He did it, without fail. God led Him each step of the way, and when it came time to complete His personal will, He said, "it is finished", and gave up His Spirit. That selfless act, and the many others He made throughout His life, made it possible for us to have the freedom to truly live. There are countless others who came before, and after Jesus, who knew what it meant to surrender to the will of God, and they will be forever blessed.
Jesus' obedience gave us freedom from the bondage of sin, yet most of us remain a slave to it. If you feel like your life is in a bunch of confusion, and you don't know which way to turn, some type of sin binds you. You cannot affectively communicate with God, and stay in His will, if you're a slave to sin. We all know right from wrong, because we were born with a conscience, whether saved or unsaved. I'm sure everyone has heard at least one of the "thou shalt nots", which is otherwise known as the Ten Commandments. In most cases we we’re raised with common moral values. We know we shouldn’t lie, cheat, steal, or envy our neighbors. As Christians, how could we expect to successfully follow God's will for our life, if we disregard both moral and Spiritual laws? We should experience God's peace within, no matter what's going on in our life, so if we don't have a "peace of mind", or peace at heart, then we are outside of the will of God. In most cases, asking the Holy Spirit to search your heart, and help you confess and repent for your sins, will get you back on track.
The enemy lives to sway us from the will of God, because we're most likely to serve him, instead of the Lord, when we're in a confused or depressed state of mind. His most common attacks on us are false guilt and fear, which is a way to make us feel like we aren't worthy of God's love, because of past mistakes. That is far from the truth! Once we're saved, God stays with us forever, and He'll always fight to keep us in His will. He does that in so many different ways, including chastisement and blessings. It's written: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
If after reading all of this, you are still wondering what God's will is for you, then the only answer I have is to “seek ye first the Kingdom of God”. Following God's will isn't the same as recognizing your different gifts and talents, and using them to serve the Kingdom, although that's a large part of it. It's more building a close relationship, and cherishing and respecting your personal faith walk with Him. I suggest you ask God what's His will for you each day, and listen to the Holy Spirit. Try your best to keep His commandments, and when you fall short, confess and repent immediately. You could never go wrong with seeking His Word for advice and instruction. All He wants is our Love, and this is a part of that.
If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are not in the Will of God. There is a reason you've be lead to read this message today, so please take a moment and take Dr. Stanley's God Quiz. There's helpful information there, and even an outline to help you pray the most important prayer you will ever pray in your life. If you are saved, and feel like you just exist with no purpose, and have no peace, then you are not in the will of God. Use your resources! Ask the Holy Spirit to help you pray, He’s been waiting to hear from you. My favorite verses today are: Not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (Romans 2:13, James 4:17)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WENESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this beautiful "hump day". I'm doing well, but truly looking forward to the weekend. I have to start packing, which is the worst part of moving. I'm not looking forward to getting settled into a new place, but then again I am looking forward to the change. This means a new life, with new things, and it's refreshing to think about it. At the same time it's a little frightening, because letting go of the past isn't an easy thing to do. However, a wise man once said, if we're so busy gripping the past, our hands aren't open to receive the new blessings God has in store for us. The most valuable lesson I'm receiving through this life transition is stepping out on faith. In the story of Jesus walking on the sea, He called Peter out of the boat. When Peter stepped out, he was able to walk on water as well, because he was focused on Jesus, but the minute he lost focus, he began to sink. I feel like Jesus is calling me out of the comfort of the “boat” to step out on faith, so I’m making an effort to consciously focus on Him, in order to continue to exceed expectations, and walk on water. Lots of prayer and faith will make that possible; I'm so grateful for the Love of God! Enjoy the remainder of your day, and be blessed family.

Today's scriptures are about the power of what comes out of the mouth. I don't think most of us are aware of the power of our tongue. The words we speak are could either bring life or death. It's written: Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. (Prov. 12:18) As children of God, we must be extra careful about what we say, because we posses the power of Christ, through His Name. The things that we speak are so important, that God gave us His Holy Spirit, to ensure that we're speaking life. It doesn't matter if we're talking to Him, our friends, spouse, children, or family members, because each word we use holds power.
Jesus came to setup a new covenant between God and us. He not only offered Salvation, but He taught us the way to get closer to God. He helped us understand the old laws, and taught us new more important laws. Watching what we say, and how we conduct ourselves, is a very important lesson that He taught from His actions and the way He lived His life. We must be careful not to get so wrapped up in the logistics, that we miss the plain and simple truths. There are many people that will condemn you for eating certain foods like pork, or shellfish, because it’s been said to be unclean, but those same people are quick curse their fellow brother. We must understand the Love of God, so that we could better follow His laws. Jesus said: "Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.” (Matt 15:17-18)
We are all followers of Christ, and called to share His Gospel, which in turn makes us disciples. We're required to first learn His Word, apply it to our own life, and then teach it. The words we speak to a lost man or woman, could lead them to eternal life, or push them closer to death. We have the awesome responsibility to watch the words we speak at all times, and in all circumstances. People are always watching us because we’re “peculiar people”, that's just the nature of the world we live in. We have the "herd" mentality, so we're very impressionable. Just imagine that someone visited your church one Sunday, and for some reason they came up to you and asked you about the Lord. You tell them how much God loves them, and all about salvation, and even share your personal testimony. What you said might have persuaded them to come back next Sunday, and even accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. That same day, this lost person saw you at the grocery store, and you are in line yelling and cursing the cashier because she messed up your total. You're conducting yourself as if you never knew God. What impression have you just made on that lost person? The last thing Jesus wants us to do is to make Him out to seem like a hypocrite, because we’re representing Him.
We are human, and are susceptible to mistakes, but God asks us to try our best to be righteous. He asks us to walk in righteousness, which requires us to do what's necessary to allow Him to change our heart, because righteousness comes from within. If we're angry, unwilling to forgive our neighbors, and/or afraid to love, it causes evil and bitterness to fester in our heart. When evil is in our heart, it will come out of our mouth. We must learn how to rely on God for all things, and we will notice a change from the inside out. Its written: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7) When our heart is right, the words that we speak will show it.
I can't tell you enough, how important it is to start your day in prayer, and with the Word of God, because that helps shape your entire day. If you pray and ask God to guide your path, you'll speak life every time you open your mouth. It's also important to keep open dialogue with the people closest to you. When you disagree talk it out, with positive words, to come to a positive solution. When you see someone looking sad, say something to brighten their day, or give them a warm smile, that helps more than you know.
If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior and you're reading this, let me be the first to tell you that God loves you. It doesn’t matter what you've done or how you've done it. Salvation doesn't cost you a thing, and doesn't require you to change your life. Although when you say that prayer, your life will automatically change, because Jesus has taken up residency in your heart. The Holy Spirit will begin a good work in you, and will continue until you go on to meet the Lord face to face. Until then relax, and allow God to work, the prayer asking Him to be your Lord and Savior is the only thing you need to worry about today. My favorite verse today is: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about Love, the action that originated with God, and manifested through His Son Jesus Christ. Love is the strongest feeling that we could have for something or someone, and it causes us to exhibit preferential treatment to the things or the people we love. We should sacrifice ourselves for our beloved, take care of them, nurture them, and do our best to please them. We learn this from the life of Jesus Christ. Just think about it, He loves us so much that He dedicated His entire life to us. He wants what’s best for us, more than He wanted what was best for Him.
God loved us from the time He created us, and will never stop. He loves us through sin, hatred, disobedience, and disrespect. He loves us even if we don't love Him. His love is a precious gift that's instilled in us, through our acceptance of Jesus Christ. Love should never be taken for granted, or used for evil. God's love is so pure, that it's never ending and never fading. John teaches us how to know God through love, in 1 John 4. It's written: Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (1 John 4:7-11) Jesus paid a great price to give us ability to experience love as He experienced it, and it’s meant to be shared.
Jesus’ love is what gives us second, third, and even five-hundredths chances. His love leads and guides us through everyday life. His love lives in our heart, and teaches us in the way we should go. His love is notwithstanding the test of time. His love never fades. His love is free to all who loves freely. John goes on to say: No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:12-16)
I'm quick to share the fact that I am love, because I experience the love of God daily, and I pray the same for every human being. This feeling is truly spectacular, and I wish to share it with everyone I come in contact with. I've always been a loving person, easy to get along with, meek, and forgiving, but God has magnified those qualities through Christ, as well as my ability to love and feel love, to an amazing level. I'm at a point where it's overwhelming just to think about it, and sometimes scary, because everyone isn't filled with the Spirit, and some will try to take my love for granted. However, the Word of God says: There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18) Through Christ, hatred is a thing of the past for me, and I could honestly say that. Of course I get angry at times, and I separate myself from people, but that doesn't mean that I don't love them. The same goes for God with us, there are times when He's angry with us, and we're punished, but that doesn't mean that He loves us any less. We have to do the same with each other.
Never forget the concept of reaping what you sow. We pray to God often, and tell Him how much we love Him. We go to church, and sing praises to His Name, and say the loudest Amen’s, but most of us have people in or lives that we hate, or have sworn not to forgive. We have people who need our help, but over look them. We expect to receive more than we give. We have opportunities to share the Gospel of Christ to people who are searching for a light, but we are too busy to get involved. Take heed of these very important words: If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. (1 John 4:20-21)
The word of God says, God is love, and Jesus and the Father are one, so without the Son you cannot see the Father. Are you ready to experience true love? If you are not a believer of Christ, and think you know love, just wait until you experience the Love of God, through Jesus. This could only truly happen when you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Test your knowledge of God, through Dr. Stanley's God Quiz today. My favorite verse today is: His great love wherewith he loved us. (Ephesians 2:4)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

Today's scriptures are about relaying on, and basking in the presence of the Lord. There's a very famous poem entitled "Footprints" written by Mary Stevenson. Following the popularity of this poem, there were various paintings depicting what Mary wrote. To sum it up, Mary had a dream that she was walking on the beach, and across the sky flashed scenes from several moments in her life. In most scenes she noticed two sets of footprints, one for her and one for the Lord. She then stopped and looked back and noticed that in the scenes from the lowest moments in her life, there was only one set of footprints. She became angry and questioned God on why, at the times where she needed Him the most, there was only one set of footprints. Naturally, she assumed at those times He'd left her alone. She wrote: The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. "When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
When I read today's scriptures, I immediately thought about the "footprints in the sand", and how much we fail to realize or recognize the presence of the Lord in our life. He walks with us through the good, the bad, and the ugly. He provides protection, love, support, cheer, peace, and whatever else we may need, at any given moment in our life. I'll write it again, “God will provide everything we need, at any given moment in our life, because He's always walking with us”. This is why we have the ability to ask and it's given, seek and we find, and knock and the door opened.
When my Aunt first came up with the name “Faith Walk” for her ministry, a light bulb went off in my head. I think those two words are the greatest way to describe the life of a follower of Jesus Christ. Each day we have to walk with the faith and strength in knowing that He is right there. I know that there are times when things get really rough, and it feels like you can't go on, but those are the days when the Lord's strength carries you. Jesus said: Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matt 11:28) When we do this with humility, we'll find that He's been waiting all along.
As of late, I’ve been thinking about my life, and I'd see those scenes where it's been God who delivered, rescued, and healed me in times of great despair. I've had those times when I was angry at life, and at my circumstances, and even at God, because I didn't understand why I had to suffer, or endure the hardships that was of no fault of my own. He was even there in those moments, and helped me see the wisdom in each circumstance, and when warranted, the error of my ways. Knowing that the Lord will be with me always, gives me peace, and allows me to look forward to life ahead, even the tough times, because I know that that's when He's going to be strong for me.
I remember times when I only noticed the single set of footsteps, and played the victim, thinking that it was me against the world. I suffered severely for having that type of attitude, and even then God carried me through it. I'm sure a lot of you have had, or has that type of attitude. You know the times where we question whether or not God loves us, or wonder if we're worthy enough for His blessings. The best day of my life was when I realized that the Almighty Lord, the Creator of all things, and the Sovereign God of the Universe, loves me, and is walking side by side with me everyday. It's written: To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One. Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isa. 40:25-31 NIV)
These promises and more are given to those who love the Lord, and if you have trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then that is you. You loved Him enough to have that much Faith in Him, to trust Him with your life, now and forever. If you feel like you’re lost, you don't have to look too far for help, because the Lord is always with you. You have the Holy Spirit in your heart, and He offers guidance, love, and clarity of the ways of God. If you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, or isn't quite sure of your Salvation, then take a few moments to take the God Quiz, it'll give you some wonderful insight. My favorite verse today is: Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1:9)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Today's scriptures are about our transformation from sinner to saint. Sin may be one of the most talked about subjects in Christianity, because it's a huge issue with all mankind. It's been an issue since the beginning of creation, and continues to plague us today. Sin hinders our growth, and disrupts our peace, so it's like a virus that gets into our soul, and quickly infects all areas of our life. If not properly dealt with, sin could cause death, so we must always be aware of its hold on us, and do our best to avoid it. Nonetheless, when we do fall short, and we will, we must quickly confess and repent. We're born in sin, and are slaves to sin up to the day that we are cleansed by the Blood of Jesus Christ.
Paul talks all about it in Romans 6, and he starts the chapter: What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. (Rom 6:1-4 NIV) Jesus’ entire existence had to do with freeing us from the bondage of sin. As His followers, we too must die with Him, meaning our sinful and wicked nature. Once He enters our life, our Spirit is resurrected in Him. However, we are required to surrender to Him, just as He surrendered His life for us on the cross. That’s the only way to experience the best of this new life. Once we surrender, God begins to cleanse us, giving us a new walk and talk. He clothes us with righteousness, piece by piece.
We must be careful not to take God's grace for granted. This reminds me of the story of Jonah, and why he ran, when God told him to go warn the people of Nineveh to change their ways, before they allowed wickedness and sin to destroy them. Jonah knew the reputation of these wicked people, but knew God better. He would rather have died then to see these people, who totally disrespected and disregarded God, be forgiven. After God forgave and restored these people Jonah was angry at Him, and it's written: He prayed to the LORD, "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still at home? That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. (Jonah 4:2) If it were up to Jonah these people would’ve been destroyed, however, God was able to save an entire nation of people, who ultimately ended up singing His praises. This story helps me better appreciate, and fear, God all at the same time, because I know all of the consequences of sin are real, but I also know that He will quickly forgive me when I ask. I know that no matter how many mistakes I make He's there. I know that before He just writes me off, He'll go to great lengths to win me back. He's constantly refining me, and everything that happens to me, is meant to make me a better person.
I'm grateful that God sees us as He does, because He's the only Judge that matters. A lot of our sin comes from trying to please other people. We sacrifice a great deal to have “the good life” that’s outlined by man. Wealth, prestige, success, careers, education, etc., all determines how valuable we are in the eyes of others. There are so many that sell their soul, or compromise their integrity to get these things on a grand scale, and that’s very sad. Don’t get me wrong, God wants us to have the “finer things in life”, but at what cost? I think we could accomplish so much more for the Kingdom of God, if we live like no one but God is watching.
Too much focus on sin, and trying to avoid it, will only lead us to sin more. More focus on God, and learning His ways and commandments, will naturally minimize our sin. For example, if you're fasting junk food, but constantly thinking “no cake, no cake, no cake…” the only thing on your mind is cake, which will cause you to fall short. Instead of thinking “no cake”, try thinking of what you could have instead. The good news is, we're incapable of never committing a sin, that's a known fact, so we don't have to focus on that. However, we need to focus on how we can better please God. He's responsible for making us righteous, because we're incapable to do that for ourselves.
Loving God with all your heart, and loving your neighbor as yourself is the only thing that we're required to do. Jesus never said, "don't sin, and you'll go to Heaven". He simply said love me, and I will give you the desires of your heart. The key to overcoming sin is to trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and then getting to know Him. Once you learn who He is, you can't help but love Him! My favorite verses today are: Ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. (Colossians 3:9-10)
