Daily Devotional Day & Night

Happy Wednesday!

We only have one more day left in 2009, but doesn’t it feel like this year just started? This is the time to start your evaluation process (if you haven’t already). What did 2009 bring to you, the good, bad, and the ugly? Did you accomplish the plans, goals, and resolutions you set for yourself? Did you learn anything, or teach someone something? Did you notice life’s seasons changing, and did you grow from them? These are the types of questions you should be asking yourself, as you embark on the New Year, and make a vow (not a resolution), to follow the Will of God in 2010. Still make your plans to grow and change, and pray on them, but ultimately God is in control. Allow Him to be Him, and trust Him to love, uplift, strengthen, and grow you into the person that “He” wants you to be. Enjoy the rest of your day, and be blessed family!

Today’s scriptures are about being “blameless” in God’s eyes, because of Jesus Christ. We just celebrated the birth of the Baby Jesus on Christmas day, and we do this in remembrance of the most important man who ever walked the face of this earth. Jesus’ Will was to take on the burden of sin for all mankind, and He did that at the cross. He laid down His life to free us from sin, death, and to mend our relationship with God. Most importantly, He did it because He loved us more than His earthly flesh. Jesus sacrificed His entire life by teaching us the ways of God, and ultimately freeing us from the penalties of sin. This puts me in mind of a song we would sing at my old church “At the Cross”. The chorus goes: At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! The Author reminds us that we have to go to the cross for forgiveness of sin, and with that forgiveness, comes a new “sight”. I wrote a little about free will yesterday, and due to the actions of Adam and Eve, we each have the option to choose what we want in life. God offers these gifts through the blood of Jesus, but He cannot make us choose Him. The natural order of things is the fact that we reap what we sow, and we can ultimately control our happiness and peace. God has given us every tool to help us live a righteous life. Jesus makes us “blameless” in God’s sight, Hallelujah! He said: "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33) We know what things to expect on a daily basis, just turn on the television, or log onto the Internet. There are temptations that follow us everywhere we go, but Jesus gives us a way out. He’s above anything that we will encounter, and even when we fall, and believe me each of us will, He’ll be right there to pick us up. God cannot look on sin, because He’s Holy and Righteous. When we’ve accepted Jesus as our Savior His blood covers us, and to God we appear white as snow. When He looks at us, He sees pure love in our hearts, no evil, no sin, nor mistakes that we’ve made. He sees love, because we have become one with His beloved Son. The world will chew us up and spit us out, so being a Christian expect to be criticized and questioned by non-believers, because they don’t know any better. Be prepared for tests to your integrity and Spirituality, because it happened to Jesus, so it’ll happen to us. We’re to take up our cross daily, and follow Him. When we live intently to serve God, and not man, His light will shine through us, and the world can’t ignore it. The love of God cannot be lost, and there’s nothing that we could do to make Him love us any less. We’re His creations, and He loves us more than any parent could love a child. He proved it when He sent His only Son to die for our sins, and He continues to prove it every day. There are many questions about Religion, Spirituality, and Denominations in the world. It goes back to the beginning of time. What will you tell people when asked why you’re a Christian? My answer would be: “God loves me, and His only Son died for my sins. I prayed and asked Jesus to be my Savior, and God immediately forgave my sins, and Jesus prepared a mansion in Heaven for me. While I’m on earth, my job is to help strengthen God’s Kingdom, by following His Will for my life. I’m not perfect, and no man but Jesus Christ ever were, or ever will be, but because of Jesus, God sees me that way. When I sin, I simply confess to God, and ask for forgiveness in the Name of Jesus, and repent. My sins are then forgiven, and washed away as far as east is to west. This opportunity was given by the grace of God, and it’s free to you as well.” For those of you that may be lost, say that prayer and allow Jesus to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. My favorite verse today is: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world. (Philippians 2:15)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today’s scriptures are about learning God’s will for your life. We always teach, or are taught to follow God’s will, so we’ll have peace, joy, and happiness, but a number of Christians don’t know what that is, or how to find out. God’s Will comes with His wisdom, and the more we seek Him and ask for wisdom, the clearer understanding we’ll get of His will for us. We’ve heard the saying, “all things happen for a reason”, and that is true in so many ways, because everything was planned from the beginning of time (Jer. 1:5). It’s written: Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him (John 9:31). In order to know the Will God has for your life, you must first build a strong relationship with Him, and that’s only possible through the blood of Jesus. We can go to God, for anything, at anytime, and He’s listening, and will answer. Jesus has made us sin free, and all we have to do to stay that way is to confess our sins, and repent regularly. Secondly, communication is key, and so Paul taught us to “Pray without ceasing”, which keeps us connected with, and focused on God. Lastly, being still, and listening to the Lord. We always need quiet time, to intently listen for God’s answers to our prayers, which is imperative to having a strong relationship. When we’re in line with all of these things, there’s no way we could miss it. The beauty of all of this is that God has given us a Helper to see us through life, as well as a Savior to keep us in tuned. It’s truly exhausting trying to figure everything out on your own. Life is hard enough, without having to be concerned about every last detail. I’ve lived life worrying about what was going to happen tomorrow, and how I was going to survive, that was no fun. I’ve slaved, begged, and borrowed trying to make ends meet to no avail. I’ve tried to make a way out of no way, only for it to backfire in my face. I’ve chose yes when God said no, and went right when He said left. I’m sure you have too, and that’s a part of life. The one thing I was missing was a true relationship Jesus Christ! Until this one day these verses made a whole lot of sense to me: Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matt. 11:28-30) Our major burden is often self-sufficiency, but Jesus said “take my yoke upon you, for it is easy and light”. The one secret I want to share with you today is the fact that you cannot do it alone! No matter what you do or say, you’re not strong enough to handle life on your own. Jesus opens doors that you never could. He bridges the gap between you and God, so you’ll be able to learn all there is to know about Him and life in general. When Jesus gave us the Guideline to prayer (the Lord’s Prayer), He said “your will be done”, and in other times He prayed for strength when faced with tough decisions, He prayed “not My will, but Your will be done”. Jesus had the key to it all, and He in turn, became our key. Decrement comes from the Holy Spirit, and He’s always talking, and giving us signs to choose the “right way”. As a Christian, just know that if it doesn’t “feel right”, then it most likely isn’t. If you don’t have Jesus, then you don’t have His Holy Spirit, and without them it’s impossible to know what your Will or purpose is. There’s a very important prayer that must be said, before you’re able to take the first step on the paths of righteousness to complete God’s Will for your life. Pray and confess that you’re a sinner, ask for forgiveness, and ask Jesus to come into your heart as Lord and Savior, and then start to build that relationship with Him. He’s waiting to hear from you. My favorite verses today are: The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, ... give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe.(Ephesians 1:17-19)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today’s scriptures are about the work of Faith. Love and Faith are both actions, and they’re to be shown rather than said. How many of us say we love something, or someone, but lack the work that goes along with it? If you believe in God, and have Faith in His promises, then you’ll reciprocate the love that He gives, and share it with others. He uses us to do His work, so when He calls us for certain tasks, then it’s up to us to have Faith in Him and in our calling. It’s difficult to believe in something you’ve never seen, but God proves Himself and His love to us every day. I’ll personally go to my grave sharing the Word of God, because I know that He’s real, since He’s shown up in my life on several occasions. He speaks to me personally, and comforts me when I need Him the most. India Arie has a song on her first album entitled “I know that God is real”, and in this song she bring up so many valid points, but at the end of the song she says, “I know God is real because He washes me new every day”. How many of us feel this way about our Heavenly Father? If you do, then that’s there the works come in. God didn’t put us here to simply work to provide food, clothing, and shelter for ourselves and our loved ones. He put us here to help strengthen His Kingdom, and each of us has a job to do. The state of the world is getting worst every day, but it’s up to us to make it better. If everyone does their part, then there wouldn’t be as many issues. We can’t wait for our President, teachers, or Pastors to do all of the work, and we just sit back and watch. It’s up to us to correct our children and teach them morals. It’s up to us to offer food to the hungry, and shelter to the homeless. We must pay our tithes, and give offerings to people in need, and volunteer our time, but not just around the holidays. It’s up to us to follow that calling to go on mission trips around the world, to spread the Gospel of Christ. In the King James Version (KJV) of the bible, the world love is substituted with the word Charity, which simply means to give to someone in need. God loved us so much, that He gave His son to die for our sins, to bring us closer to Him. He did that because we were in desperate need of help. Jesus lives in our hearts, and it’s time for us to give Him to others that are in need, through love, or charity. Give love to everyone without reproach, or expecting something in return. How could we truly believe in God, ask for daily blessings and favor, but not give any of that in return. It’s time to allow your heart to be transformed from selfish to selfless. It’s time to take on the mind and heart of Jesus, and allow Him to help us move forward in Faith and works. I’m going to leave you with this: What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? (James 2:14-20) Faith and works goes hand and hand, and without Faith in Jesus Christ, your works are in vain. Some people naturally have a good heart, but God doesn’t see it, if you haven’t accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. Say that prayer right now, and then dedicate your life to working for the Lord. If you need a prayer partner, please let me know. My favorite verse today is: It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

Happy Friday!

Today's scripture's are about having the boldness of Christ. As we read stories about Jesus, we could get a great sense of His confidence in Himself, because of His relationship with God. He was a great example of how we should live everyday. He gives us the power necessary to overcome any obstacle we may face. In His Name we could ask for anything we need or desire, within the laws of God, and by Faith it shall be given to us. When we stay in tuned with the Holy Spirit, He'll give us clear guidance as to what we should ask for, and how to be prepared to receive them. Did you know that when you invited Jesus into your life as Lord and Savior you inherited His power? We are no longer under the power of the enemy or the flesh, because we are Children of God! We should walk in confidence in knowing that the almighty Lord is in complete control of our life. As my airplane was taking off on last Friday, I realized how much I don't like flying, because the concept of it is beyond my comprehension. However, I know that planes were created to better get us where we need to go, and I will fly through my fear of the unknown, because I know that God will take care of me. I work late hours, and after work I go to the gym, and run errands sometimes. Most people would be afraid, because as we know predators usually lurk at night, but I'm not afraid because I've asked God to watch over me, and He does. I listen to my Holy Spirit, and He will give me the guidance I need to stay safe. I can honesty say that there aren't a lot of things I fear, because I know I’m protected by the Blood of the Lamb. I do have some fears, doubts, and insecurities, but they are usually brought on by guilt, or lies from the enemy, and the world’s ways of thinking. According to the world, especially in the United States, our credit score, assets, education, outer appearance, and prestige measure us. Who are you, if you lack any of these things? God knows where you've been, where you are, and where you're headed, and in order for you to know these things you must boldly ask for the answers. Some people say that we shouldn't question God, but if we don't seek answers to the questions or reservations we have, how would learn where we need to be? Isn't it refreshing to be able to say, “this is where I went wrong, and I know not to do that anymore”? Mistakes are a part of life, and are meant to help us grow, but they could only hinder us if we don't stand up with confidence in the fact that we’ve been forgiven. The Lord said to Jeremiah: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Then said I (Jeremiah): “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the LORD said to me: “ Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,” says the LORD. (Jer. 1:6-8) How many times have God told you to do something and you answered Him with, "but God I can't do this"? I can't begin to tell many times I've said that. God made these promises not only to Jeremiah, but also to all of us. We all have the power of prophecy through the Holy Spirit, and we've been chosen to do great things. We have something that Jeremiah didn't have, and that's the power of the blood of Jesus. God knew us before we were formed in the womb, and predestined us to complete a task, and nothing could stop us from getting there, not even us. Our hesitations could cause us to stay in the wilderness, but we'll eventually reach our promised land. As of today drop all fear, and pick up the power of Jesus Christ, and you don't have to look far for it, because you've had it all along. Boldly accept your inheritance, and live like a true child of God. If you don't know Jesus, then you should be very afraid. Get to know Him now, and live like the Kings and Queens you were created to be, with grace, poise, and prominence. My favorite verse today is: Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (Romans 8:15)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

Today's scriptures are about our Spiritual Enhancement and Enrichment. Where would we be without the Trinity of God? God loves us so much that He's given us every tool we'll need to have life in abundance. The Holy Spirit is meant to enhance our ability to effectively communicate with God. He allows us to speak to others in the Spirit, as well as read and understand the Word of God. Before we're saved, we're in the natural; however, the saving grace of God, through the blood of Jesus, opened a new world to us. It's written: But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Cor. 2:14) The word Enhance is defined: to raise to a higher degree; intensify; magnify. Enrich is defined: To make fuller, more meaningful, or more rewarding, or to supply with abundance of anything desirable. Jesus enriches our life, and gives us the Holy Spirit to enhance it. The word "quicken", which is defined: to revive; restore life to, is used in the King James Version (KJV) of the bible, to describe the Holy Spirit's role in our life. The Holy Spirit is like the underdog of the Trinity in the world. We hear more about Jesus and God, who are in fact the most important aspect of our Salvation, but without the Holy Spirit we wouldn't be able to adequately live everyday life. Sometimes I go through days, or weeks, and wonder how I made it through. Now that I'm writing a book, I go back through my older devotionals and am amazed that I wrote some of them. As I've grown older, and become more mature in my spirit, I've become more relaxed, wise, and loving. I attribute all of these things to the Holy Spirit who quickens and enhances my life everyday. He does the same for you, but you must be aware of His presence, and invite Him into every part of your life. He’s known as a Gentleman, and isn’t a demon who will possess, or take over your body. He's been sent to help. The Spirit of the Lord is all around us, yet we're in the flesh, so how does the two connect? I attended the drama presentation a few months ago, and the theme was "Serving 2 Masters: God or the world?" The world has a way of separating us from the Spirit, and even with the His enhancement we still get caught up. The play was based on 1 John 2:15-17: Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Now you may be wondering what this has to do with Spiritual enhancement, (just as I was when the Spirit brought it up), but it has a lot to do with it. We're always taught to love God, avoid sin, and follow His will, but numerous people are left wondering how to do that. The simplest answer is to put God first. That way you won’t fall victim to the evils of the world, and will be able to fully communicate with your Holy Spirit, who in turn, connects you with God. You're required to seek the answers to all of the questions you have, and not just succumb to temptations. It's not as hard as it seems, but it takes effort and discipline on your part, which is not a lot to ask, when you think of how much He's given us. God will literally hold our hand and lead us through life. His hand is constantly extended, all we have to do is reach out and grab it and hold on tight. If you don't have Jesus in your life then His hand is out of your reach, until you pray and ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, and admit that you're a sinner. Once He lives in your heart, the only time you'll fall is if you willingly let go of God's hand. When you do fall, confess your sins and ask for forgiveness, and He'll reach out and pick you up again. The Holy Spirit will help you every step of the way. My favorite verse today is: I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me. (Psalms 119:93)

Daily Devotioanl Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this brisk "hump day". I'm doing well, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and I'm so excited. However, I haven't done any shopping yet, nor have I put up my tree. Hopefully I find time to do it this weekend. I'm looking forward to a nice family dinner next week; we're blessed to have my Grandmother with us one more Christmas. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. To see someone you love become terminally ill makes you not only appreciate and cherish them more, but it allows you understand your own mortality. God willing, she’ll be around for many more Christmases, but in actuality, this could very well be the last Christmas for any of us, so it's important not to take each other for granted. Spend time with the people you love, and don’t stop yourself from loving someone, because you never know when you’ll get the chance again. Don't waste time hating, resenting, or being spiteful to anyone, because life is too short for that. Instead, use that energy to bring light to someone's life, forgive those who have trespassed against you, love hard, and live on purpose. During this Holiday season, and the quick approaching New Year, think of how you can better reflect the love of Jesus. Enjoy the remainder of your evening, and be blessed family! By the way, I did get my bag yesterday, thanks for your prayers!

Today's scriptures are about Jesus' love. Do you truly believe that Jesus loves you? The logical answer to that question is yes, however, most of us don't live our lives in that way. Jesus’ love is pure and true, and it doesn't discriminate. I've always stressed the fact that love is an action, and not merely a feeling. Jesus proved His love for us once and for all, when He gave His life on the cross. I know that sounds a little cliché, or like something I'm supposed to say, but this needs to resonate within your soul. There are numerous Christians that can't really comprehend the extent of His love. If they did, the world would be a better place. Most of today's scriptures come from the book of John chapters 13-15. Near the end of all of the Gospels, Jesus starts to reveal more himself His followers. He told them how He had to die and why, but He also left them with the promises of His everlasting presence, and the eternal bond they’d (we’d) share. He not only spoke these things, but He proved them. Before His death He stayed close to His loved ones, and humbled Himself as a servant. These words He left for all of us past, present, and future, in hopes to create an unbreakable bond. He wants us to have peace in knowing that we're never alone. He wants us to understand that He has conquered the world, and we have nothing left to fear. Jesus said: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” ...Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:1-4,6) Jesus' entire life was based on this alone. He came to be the "way, truth, and life" for all mankind, and that was done out of love. His entire life was meant to do these awesome and extraordinary things, which no one else could've achieved. Can you fully understand how much He loves you now? He and God are one in the same, and if God is love, then Jesus is love also. He came to save everyone, and loves us unconditionally, but He holds deeper compassion for those of us who love Him in return. It's written: "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” (John 14:21) He came to mend the separation of the believers and God. When we accept Him as Lord and Savior we enter into a relationship with Him. He lives in, and works with us to build a deeper and stronger bond. His love is to be reciprocated, and not taken for granted. He gave Himself so that we could have a good life, one full of peace, joy, and happiness. In order to fully understand the awesome love Jesus has for you, you must build a personal relationship with Him. I’ve only shared a few promises with you today, and there are many more where those come from, just pick up the bible and ask your Holy Spirit to join you. When we stand on Jesus’ promises that allows us to greater receive His love, which in turn helps us share it with others. I thank Jesus for who He is, and what He's done in my life, and it hasn't stopped with my Salvation, that’s just the start. If you don't know Him as your Lord and Savior then now is the best time to become acquainted with Him. I promise you this is one decision that you will never regret. My favorite verse today is: Christ ... loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. (Ephesians 5:25-26)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about loving your neighbor. Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ this is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matt. 22:37-39) This was Jesus' answer when asked which was the greatest commandment of all time. Why do you think loving your neighbor as yourself would be a "great commandment"? I believe it's because we are used as vessels for God. How greater is it to show God, who is Love, then by loving everyone without reservations or biases? Loving others could be a very hard thing to do, especially with so much evil in this world. You know the saying, "It's a thin line between love and hate". That's a true statement when it comes to the flesh. People can push you so far where it's very easy to "hate" them, but is that a Godly reaction? What would Jesus have you do? We've read stories about Jesus getting angry at the money changes in the temple, and turning over tables. In those cases, He wasn’t mad at the people, but at their actions. He loves everyone no matter how He was or is hated. He prayed for all nations, and healed all types of people, despite their "religion", or background. He doesn’t judge by the enormity of our sin, or the lack thereof. He said He came to save the lost, and not minister to Himself, what's the point in that? Once we learn the ways of God, and live by them, we're expected to share our wisdom with anyone we could. Genuine Godly love is a love that knows no bounds, and it's a pleasure to have. For me, over the last couple years, His love has transformed my heart. Yes, I have a long way to go, and I still get angry, but I honestly pray for those who wish me harm. I've practically lost any vindictive ways I may have had, and I pity those who attempt to steal someone’s joy. I'm not sure how many of you have reached this point in your Faith walk, but it's the best feeling in the world. At the same time, when you start to compare your views, to the views of the world, you could start to feel like a "pushover" of sorts, and that’s just what the enemy wants. There are also people who are saved, Holy, and Sanctified, but it stops there. Some, who go to church every Sunday, read their bible everyday and could quote scripture as if they've committed the entire book to memory. Yet, they never commit to doing any work to strengthen the Kingdom of God. If you are that type of person, are you truly following the second great commandment to love your neighbor? We must treat people the way we would want to be treated. It’s written: Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness, “You shall not covet,' and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:8-10) If you're living with evil, hatred, jealously, malice, or selfishness in your heart, then how can you truly love the way Jesus loves? The only ways to overcome these things is by taking on the fruits of the Spirit, and to actively love. Always think before you act and speak, and ask yourself "how would I feel if this was done to me?” If you don't know Jesus as your Savior then you have no idea how to truly love anyone else, because Love, who is Jesus Christ, don't live inside of you. Go to Him in prayer right now and ask Him to come into your heart, and then ask Him to teach you how to love. Wisdom is a free gift by grace. My favorite verses today are: Be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: not rendering evil for evil or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:8-9)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

Today's scriptures are about the certainty of our Salvation. Are you at peace with your Salvation? Just because of who you are in Christ, you should have peace in knowing that God always has your best interest in mind. Everything that happens in our life is meant to happen, and it's written: Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholds him with His hand (Psalm 37:24). Peace is something that too many of us, especially Christians, don't have. It's missing because we're not certain about our salvation, or know what it means. We should know, without a shadow of doubt, that God will keep us in His hands at all times. Jesus intercedes for us, and keeps us connected to Him. Sin won't make us lose our salvation because Jesus has already taken care of that on the cross. Unbelief is the only unpardonable sin, as it's written: “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come." (Matthew 12:31-32) As long as you believe in the one true God, who is indeed the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, you're forever under His loving care. You can rest assured that you're salvation can never be changed, broken, removed, or lost. Salvation is more than just a spot in Heaven, but it's a portal to the strength, power, love, authority, and compassion given to us by our Savior Jesus Christ. We sometimes get lost on our journey because we start to look around, and compare ourselves to other people. Looking back, and living in the past also sidetracks us, but that's no good, because we cannot adequately move forward if we're focused on everything but that. Through salvation we can be certain of our growth, God is consistently pruning and shaping us into righteousness. He sees it in us all along, but we don't see if in ourselves, because of our uncertainty. The only way to overcome it is to feed our hunger for knowledge, and ask for wisdom. Jesus promises to give us all that we need, to not only survive the harsh reality of life, but to overcome it. It's written: “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me." (John 15:1-4) The word of God always gives me rest, because whenever I'm uncertain I pick it up and seek Him. The Holy Spirit speaks to me and shares awesome promises like these. Ignorance is a dangerous thing. Do you understand that we're nothing without Him, but everything with Him? He needs to use us to build the body of Christ because we're physically here, but He's providing the nutrients. God will remove the old dead hindrances from our lives, to allow us to blossom, and bear wonderful fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22). He needs you to trust Him, and know that He's in control and will never leave nor forsake you. Times can, and will, get rough, but in those times be certain that the blood of Jesus Christ saves you. Anytime you may doubt that, pray and ask for strength, and it will be given to you. Anytime you've lost your way, pray for wisdom and guidance, and by Faith paths will be lit, and unknowns will be made known. I speak to you by the Spirit, as well as from personal experiences, which gives me wisdom. If you're in any way uncertain of your salvation pray this prayer: "Father God, I confess that I am a sinner, I ask that Jesus come into my heart as Lord and Savior, and forgive me of my sins. I thank you for your love, mercy, and grace, in the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen." If you pray that prayer with a sincere heart, and faith in the Trinity, you will inherit all of these promises you've read today. I love you as God loves me, so please join me in our inheritance it's free. My favorite verses today are: Our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work. (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about justly following God. We live in a world full of people who take God's grace for granted, and honestly we’ve all done it. Our society is quickly taking the turn for the worst, and I can't say that I'm surprised. However, God offers forgiveness through Jesus Christ, but He also requires obedience. The word Obey has a few different meanings and my two favorites are: a) to comply with or follow the commands, restrictions, wishes, or instructions of. b) to submit or conform in action to. This is what God requires of us. Do you learn His commandments as you read the bible, go to church, listen to Gospel music, and/or read daily devotionals? The bigger question is, do you obey God's commandments to the best of your ability? Most of us live by a "now-a-days" concept, where we think that it's okay to do what everyone else is doing. If you're one of those people then I need you to take heed to the fact that Jesus hasn't changed (Heb. 13:8). The same principles and promises made thousands of years ago are prevalent today. Granted, we do have Salvation through Jesus Christ, and will be forgiven of our sins each time we ask, but God wants more from us. Our relationship with Him is similar to our relationship with our earthly parents. He doesn't want to hear us say "oh God please forgive me" a thousand times a day, because He cannot have an adequate relationship with us that way. He has so much love for us, and so many gifts and treasures to reveal, that He wants us to be obedient. I was reading Psalms 31 today, written by King David, and in my opinion it’s powerful because David was so humble. David was the first to admit His inequities, and submitted to God with his whole heart, and that's why He loved him so much. David was loyal, and would never allow anyone to separate him from God's love. When God said David go here, or fight there, he always followed and stood with fearless faith. When he made mistakes he humbled himself before God, and praised, cried, begged, and trusted God to get him through. David begins chapter 31: In You, O LORD, I put my trust; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in Your righteousness. (vs 1) Into Your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. (vs. 5). From the beginning David assures God of His love for, and trust in Him, and he goes on to tell God that his strength fails because of his own iniquity. He even acknowledges the way it affects the people who looked up to him. David gives praise, and requests protection as well. He ends this chapter: Oh, love the LORD, all you His saints! For the LORD preserves the faithful, and fully repays the proud person. Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the LORD. (vs 23-24) What is David trying to teach us? He never said he was perfect, but he did commit his life to doing God's work. He praised God every chance He got, and followed His will for his life until the day he died. God gave us a way out of sin to give us a chance to experience the abundant life promised to us. There is so much joy, peace, and happiness we miss out on because of our disobedience. If we seek God first in everything we do, and try to live right, then we'll notice huge changes not only in our lives, but also in the lives of people around us. He will punish us for breaking His commandments, or keep our life at a standstill until we submit to His will. How do we break this cycle? Do as David did, and confess, repent, and be just. Jesus is the key to forgiveness, and He opens the door to "life". All we have to do is be obedient and follow Him. It doesn't require our perfection, just faith, fellowship, and love. Start by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, and feel the weight lifting off of your shoulders, because you will “take His yoke upon you” (Matt. 11:29). If you haven't accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, I'll be happy to pray with you. My favorite verse today is: To love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. (Mark 12:33)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Today's scriptures are about loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. I'm excited about today’s message, because we don't discuss this very important subject often enough. I couldn't tell you where I would be without the love of my family and friends. I've always felt the importance of loved ones, and love meeting new people who are really genuine about uplifting everyone around them. The song by Hezekiah Walker entitled, "I need you to survive" is one of my favorites. I'm a "people's person", and I reach out to people when I need to be uplifted, as well as when I want to celebrate and enjoy my many wonderful blessings. I can honestly say that I need all of you to survive. We're considered the body of Christ, and each of you have personally touched my life, or the life of someone close to me, and that's the way God intended it to be. I thank God for every encounter I have with my fellow brothers and sisters, because nothing is by chance. We're in each other's lives for a reason and sometimes for a season. We're meant to keep each other encouraged, and to promote life in the lives of everyone around us. I've been put in a tremendous position to be working in the service field, because I encounter numerous different personalities and attitudes, it's very interesting. I feel remorse for mean and evil people, because they're missing out on what life could really be. God made us vulnerable in many different ways, so we have to depend on each other, and work together as one body. It’s very important not to forget the people around you, especially if you've overcome lots of obstacles, and are somewhat "successful". Never forget that God placed people in your life to help you get to where you are. Yes, we’ll encounter people who may hurt us, but that hurt promotes growth as part of our refinement process, and forgiveness is the only way to rise above it. When we live with unforgiveness in our hearts, it only makes us bitter, and we take it out on everyone around us. Jesus encountered worst treatment than most of us could ever imagine. He was ridiculed, laughed at, beaten, cheated, and talked about, and that's only the half of it. Jesus prayed for the people who hurt Him, instead of reacting on pure emotion. He still offers Salvation to everyone who seeks Him, and would never turn His back on anyone in need. That's who we are, because we have the Mind of Christ. When we see our fellow brother or sister hurt, we should do our best to help them, without stepping in God’s way. Again, we need each other to survive, and if the entire "Body of Christ" thought that way, we'd be stronger, and able to get more accomplished for the Lord. I challenge you to make it your business to brighten someone's day, every day. Tell someone that you love him or her, or pay a compliment when its lease expected. Call a friend that you know maybe facing trails, offer your support, and actually follow through. Simply smiling at stranger, or telling someone that God loves them when you see them hurting could make a huge difference. We are men and woman of integrity, and it's time for us to share that with the world. If you don't know Jesus, then pick up the "Good Book" and learn about Him. Imitate Him, and take on His principles, and most of all live your life in love. In order to do that, He must live in your heart, and if you're not sure that He does, please contact me, and I'll pray with you. I need to see you in Heaven, as well as experience God's irrefutable peace on earth. My favorite verses today are: Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:1-2)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

Today's scriptures are about forgiveness of sin. The word “purpose” was laid in my Spirit a few weeks ago. Maybe about the same time the phrase "be blessed" was instilled in me. I say that everyday because I believe that we must live as the Heirs of the Kingdom of God. This morning my Spirit gave me these four simple things, "live with purpose, live on purpose, live for a purpose, and live purposely". As I was driving down the road, I was trying hard not to forget those things so I could share them with you, but I also knew that they would somehow tie into today's message. As I read the verses they were all about Jesus' sacrifice, and how He took on the sins of the world to offer us eternal life, as well as a life with abundance on earth. Jesus’ life was for a purpose, and He knew that. It’s written that from the time He was born, He was known as the “Messiah”, and the "Chosen" one, and He was blessed. He lived His life as if He was blessed, because He had a deep personal relationship with God. This morning I read Joyce Meyer's devotional, entitled "going deeper in Christ", and she said "If you pray for something, but in the back of your mind you doubt it, then you need to go deeper, because you're not completely trusting God." In order to completely trust God, you must have a relationship with Him. In order to have a true relationship and fellowship with Him you must be free of sin. How many of us know that here is no man without sin? Jesus was the only sin-free man who ever walked this earth, and He gave up His life so that we could all live on purpose and "be blessed". Salvation is the only way to be forgiven of sin, and we cannot work or pay off sin, there is no amount of good behavior that will redeem our Souls. It's written: If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. (1 John 1:6-10) Nothing but the blood of Jesus can bring us to the place that we ought to be in life, and help us find our purpose. Sin is a huge problem, and it constitutes life and death, and is a true burden on us. It hinders our growth, and our ability to "go deep" in our relationship with God, or anyone else in that matter. When we're bogged down with sin, we're vulnerable to the enemy's attacks on us, and are more likely to drift away from God. It's so important to confess and repent for our sins as soon as they happen, to have complete freedom. The entire purpose of Jesus’ life was to free us from sin and to bring us closer to God, so don't let His life be in vain. Do your best to live righteously, and don't worry if you make a mistake, that's okay, God expects it. However, He measures us by our heart, and how we feel on the inside. Don't worry about your current state, because God understands our strengths and weaknesses, which was the reason He sent Jesus to atone for our sins. There's nothing we can do without Him, so if you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, than you need to say that prayer sooner than later, tomorrow isn't promised. My favorite verse today is: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying the end of another workweek (for most). This week has flown by, and I can't believe its Friday already. It seems like I barely had time to blink. Sometimes busy is good, but I guess it depends on the circumstances. I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend, and spending some time with family. Tomorrow will mark a day of indepence for me, and it is very, very, exciting. Please continue to keep me in your prayers. I guess I spoke too soon about the good weather we're having yesterday, because there are forecasts of snow, and it has definitely gotten colder. Oh well seasons change, and there's nothing I could do about that. I'll survive, because I've survived 31 other winters, I can get through this one too, by the grace of God. Have a wonderful weekend family, and whatever you do, do it for the Lord.

Today's scriptures are about requesting wisdom from God. Wisdom is something that's acquired over a lifetime, and it comes through life lessons and journeys. Some people confuse wisdom with knowledge, and that's where the average person get's lost on their Spiritual journey. Wisdom is defined: the quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight. Knowledge is defined: acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation; general erudition. They both work together, but God gives us wisdom, and we acquire knowledge for ourselves, and it's important to differentiae the two. Paul speaks a lot about this in 1 Corinthians chapter 2, and when he addressed the church, he spoke with the wisdom of God, so that everyone could understand. He said: And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God (vs. 4-5). He goes on to explain that God grants wisdom to each of us in His on time. Paul also pointed out the magnitude of the wisdom of God, and quoted a scripture from Isaiah 64:4: “ Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (vs. 9) He also said that this wisdom was revealed to him through the Spirit. People who don't have the Spirit cannot begin to search the "deep things of God" (vs 10). He concludes this chapter by saying: These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ (vs. 13-16). Did you know that you have the mind of Christ? Wow! Jesus taught that all we have to do is seek, ask, and believe. He also often said "O ye of little Faith", because we are foolish, until we seek the knowledge of God. Constantly seeking to obtain this wisdom strongly deepens our relationship with Him, because He continuously reveals Himself to us. It's wonderful to become educated in the worlds way, because we need to have that knowledge to be able to maneuver in our day-to-day life, but it's dangerous to put our focus solely on that. We could read numerous books that gives us no wisdom, and watch hours of television programs that don't promote growth, but won't take the time to open the bible for 1 hour a day, or even go to church for 1 hour a week. There are numerous people who have several college degrees and certifications, but cannot quote the Lord's Prayer, yet claim to be a Christian. We can be so smart, but foolish at the same time, and Paul warns us in 3:19: For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”. I'll leave you with this; God has predestined us to do great things, and has etched out a path to get there. We're all considered to be "Israel", and we have a "promised land” waiting at the end of our journey. We've been given a map, compass, tour guide, and all of the supplies we need to make it there. On the way, we'll learn new things, love, hate, laugh, cry, hurt, and be hurt, and that's the joy of life. We have something to accomplish that's greater than what we could possible understand, and we have the mind of Christ and His power to promote life. Make sure you don't take that power for granted, and ask for help when you need it. If you don't know Jesus as Lord, then you're missing something special, but you don't have too. I was reading Joyce Meyers devotional book this morning, and she said we often get caught up in works, yet miss that one on one time with God. He's not asking for our money, nor impressed by our social status, He just wants us. Give Him all of you, and be open to receive His wisdom. My favorite verses today are: Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. (Jeremiah 1:6-8)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this beautiful Friday eve. Today, as everyday, is a gift from God, and when I look up at the sky, I could truly see His magnificence. I hope we have a mild winter this year. Last year the temperatures dropped so low that my heating bill was astronomical. I love the weather right now, it's December and we're having consistent 60°F days. This week has flown by, I can't believe that the weekend is almost here yet again, and I'm always excited about those. I have no immediate plans, no basketball, no prescheduled meetings just relaxation and writing. Please pray for my focus this weekend, I have to get more work done on my first book, and finish writing a proposal for the after school program. I also ask for your continued prayers for my Grandmother, I will be seeing her this weekend as well. Time waits for no man, and before you know it 24 hours has passed and it's a new day, so make your time count. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to do His work. Enjoy the rest of your day, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about seeking God in prayer. I was reading Dr. Stanley's devotional last night, and something peaked my interest, and a light bulb went off for me. Just when you think you have this whole Christian thing down, God opens another door of wisdom. Dr. Stanley wrote: I am convinced that if Christians truly understood what takes place during prayer, they’d call upon the Lord more often and with greater results. The believer’s prayer isn’t simply spoken into empty space; the Holy Spirit is there to guide us in offering God-centered requests, fill in the words we cannot say, and carry our needs before the Lord. Am I the only one that had an epiphany after reading that? I always knew that the Holy Spirit was my Helper, but I never used Him to my full advantage. When we seek God in prayer, it's important to realize that we have help. The Holy Spirit is another part of God, and He's just as important as Jesus. God teaches us to "cast our cares upon Him", and rely on Him to get us through life. A piece of Him lives in our heart, which is designed to help us know what's beneficial and/or detrimental to our growth. The Holy Spirit helps keep us in line with God, so we can seek Him through prayer intently. We should pray with purpose, having faith in knowing that God is listening, and will answer. We should ask our Holy Spirit search to our heart and help us pray, as we ought to pray. Allow Him to speak for you sometimes, through speaking in "Tongues"; this is a truly amazing gift from the Holy Spirit, which allows Him to completely intercede. We learned a little about that yesterday, when we discussed Pentecost, the initial anointing of the Holy Spirit. God gives us real tangible evidence to prove Himself everyday, so He shows up in our life whenever we need Him. By the blood of Jesus, we have the authority to come to Him and make all of our supplications known. Whatever concerns or joys we may have, we should take them to Him in prayer. He loves our praise as well, but most importantly He understands our struggle, and has made Himself readily available to us anytime day or night. That's a reason to rejoice! There are times that we'll stray, and He understands that, and He'll do whatever it takes to get us back in step with His will. Sometimes He'll wrestle with us as He did with Jacob, until we realize that He'll always win, and surrender (Gen. 32:22-31). God will never give up on us, nor leave us to face the world alone, so it's important to keep a close relationship with Him. In any relationship communication is key, and we won't know what's on the other person's mind unless we ask. I think we don't ask God for the things that we want or need, because we assume that we already know the answer. When we pray, we seldom address the Holy Spirit, and we often doubt that our prayers will be answered. It takes growth and wisdom to build faith, communication, and trust in our relationship with God. The only way to grow is by wisdom, and the only way to gain wisdom is by asking, knocking, and seeking (Matt. 7:7). Always remember that Love is an action, and that's all God asks us to do. We cannot move mountains without Him. Read the book of Psalms when you're in need of encouragement, and it'll help you understand that you're not alone, and God loves you just as much as anyone else. He wants you to be close to Him, so make your way right now. Pray and ask Jesus to be your Savior, and when you accept Him, you gain the world! Don't allow your life to be ruled by fear and sin, take the freedom that Jesus has given you and live to the fullest! My favorite verses today are: I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. (Psalms 116:1-2)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying another gray hump day. I'm doing well, looking forward to Christmas, because I now understand it’s meaning. I used to be depressed and angry during the Christmas season because it could be a very stressful time. Do you know how many people go into debt to buy presents for their children and family? The world has put this prerequisite on what's supposed to be “the most wonderful time of the year", and made it into a commercial paradise, instead of focusing on the birth of Jesus Christ. As we're in the Advent season, be conscious of Jesus' existence, and what it means in your life. Even if you don't celebrate the season of Advent, don't lose the meaning of Christmas. I don't know where I'd be if it wasn't for Jesus, and I'm so grateful for His life, it's only nationally celebrated one time a year; so don't allow the world to take all the meaning out of it for you. Use this time as an opportunity to teach someone about the love of Jesus Christ, and what He stood for. I implore you to relax, enjoy your family and friends, and eat, drink, and enjoy the fruits of your labor (Eccl. 3:12-13)! Enjoy the rest of your day, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about the gift of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. We're in the last month of the year, and have entered into the Advent season as of this Sunday past. I grew up predominantly in Southern Baptist Churches, and we never celebrated the season of Advent (or I don't remember it). I learned about Advent last year at my new Church, whose denomination is Disciples of Christ. Advent is defined: The liturgical period preceding Christmas, observed by many Christians as a season of prayer, fasting, and penitence. We basically celebrate the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and take some time to reflect on what He means to us. I've adopted this practice because I believe that it’ll bring my relationship with Jesus a step closer. It's very new to me, so I'm still trying to learn the traditions. However, it helps me stay aware of Jesus' life, and the awesome role He plays in mine, especially during one of the most stressful times of year. Jesus did more than just atoned for our sins; it's only because of Him that we have received the Holy Spirit. Acts chapter 2 speaks about the coming of the Holy Spirit, and it starts off in verses 1-4 speaking about Pentecost (the anointing of the Holy Spirit). As you could imagine, once the disciples were speaking in different tongues and overcome by the Spirit, people were shocked and stunned, and sought answers. Peter then preached a sermon to the men of Judea in Jerusalem about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and what it entails. He goes into detail about Joel and King David, from the Old Testament, and how prophesied about this very thing. They spoke about the Messiah and the coming of the Holy Spirit many years before Jesus was born. Peter goes on to say: This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear .“For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: ' The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.' Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” (vs. 32-36). You may be wondering why I'm mentioning Advent and Pentecost, when we're supposed to learning about the gift of the Holy Spirit. Have you ever heard the saying, "If you don't know where you come from, then you won't know where you're going?" We're in the season of celebrating Jesus' birth, and this is so significant because if Jesus wasn't born He couldn't have died, and if He hadn't died for our sins and was resurrected, then we wouldn't have the Holy Spirit. Salvation through Jesus, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit are one in the same; you can't have one without the other. Do you know how to properly use the power of your Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is our connection to God and Jesus. We wouldn’t be able to adequately communicate with them, none of our prayers would be answered, nor could we properly read and understand the Word of God without the Holy Spirit. He's our Helper, and will guide us in every step we take. Do you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior? If your answer is no, then you don't have the Holy Spirit. You're in a battle with no armor, and the only way to put on that amour is the pray and ask Jesus to be Lord of your life. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior you have all the protection you need, however you must ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit daily. I challenge you to make note of how many times you communicate with the Holy Spirit in a day, and make a conscious effort to communicate with Him more. My favorite verse today is: The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone and you're enjoying another beautiful day! I'm doing well, refreshed after a nice vacation. The last five days have been a bit of a transition for me, and I'm happy and excited about the new life I'm embarking upon. As I step into times of uncertainty, I read Ecclesiastes 3, and it helps me understand that change is not only good, but it's inevitable. God made seasons for a reason, there's a time for everything, and what I go through is no different from what other people are going, or have gone through. I know, by the grace of God, I will survive. Hallelujah! I welcome adversity and trials, because I understand that it's necessary to mold me into the special person He's created me to be. God has blessed me with a tremendous support system, including all of you who take the time to read my e-mails daily. I appreciate your feedback, because it keeps me encouraged, and I thank you. Well enough with the sentimental stuff it's Basketball Season, whew hoo!! The boys played St. Stephen's, and they won! It was an excited game, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season. My brother has transitioned from football to basketball well, and it seems like they’re having fun. Please pray that everyone stays healthy. Be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about taking refuge in Jesus Christ. I often write about the trials we face in life, because I want you to understand that you are not alone. God doesn’t love you any less because of anything you’ve done, or because of your circumstances. The world vividly paints a picture of how life is “supposed” to be, and what constitutes happiness and success. The world will have you believe that material wealth, prestige, education, and outer beauty equals happiness and success. Now let’s take a moment and look at the man Jesus Christ. He lived with very little, and worked as a carpenter. He never had a place to call home, nor boasted about having riches, yet He was the most powerful man to ever walk the earth. He traveled light, and took care of everyone He came in contact with. He often sat with His followers and taught the love of God. How much money He had, or what He was wearing was never His concern. He’s warned us about converting to the world’s way of thinking, and living to please man. It’s written: “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Luke 16:13) He constantly taught this, and warned us of the many temptations, test, and trials we’ll face. At the same time, He offers refuge and freedom from the burden of sin. He promised to protect us through the storms of life, and celebrate with us in our victories. He promised to never leave us without protection, and we should take comfort in knowing that He has already overcome the world. The word Refuge is defined: shelter or protection from danger, trouble. Now I’ll pose a question, and you should spend some time and think about the answer. Do you honestly see Jesus as your refuge? I’m all about self-reflection, because we often make excuses for ourselves, and try to blame all of our tribulations on God, or “the devil”, but we seldom take a look at “the man in the mirror”. A lot of our hurts and pains are self-inflicted, and we’re so busy blaming everything else that we fail to see our own role in our situations. I used to be like that, until someone very close to me pointed it out, [actually several people, but that’s how God works when He needs to get His point across]. When faced with trouble or danger, our first, yet natural, reaction is to attempt to come up with a resolution, or take defense. When we react strictly on emotion, or natural instinct, we could end up doing more harm than good, but for most of us that’s all we know. If you’re anything like me, you need to be reminded daily, that Jesus is your strength and your refuge, your ever present help in need. When faced with danger, all you need to do is call on Him, and He will answer. God has given us favor through Jesus Christ. Don’t ever forget that Jesus lived and died for you. Throughout His life He taught us about the dangers and joys of life, and awesome promises of our Father in Heaven. Then He laid down His life to atone for our sins. Now, He sits at the right hand of God as our intercessor. When you think of Him in this way, do you see Him as your refuge? Trouble is inevitable, but some of it is unnecessary. Do you know how much trouble you could avoid if you just trust in the Lord with your whole heart, and allow Him to guide you in life? If you don’t know then the only way to find out is to first accept Him as your Lord and Savior, and then stay with Him at all time. An umbrella in a storm is only useful if you open it up and use it. My favorite verse today is: When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Psalms 61:2)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying another beautiful terrific Tuesday. The weather is cold and rainy, but the fact that we're a day closer to a four-day weekend makes it beautiful. I'm thankful that my Grandmother is here to celebrate another holiday with the family, please continue to keep her in your prayers. This weekend's turducken was a big hit! I must say myself, I am really pleased about the way it came out, I pray the next one comes out just as well, or better. We had so much food at the Church, but the one thing we were missing was the stuffing, so I think I'll go ahead and make some tomorrow, to ensure that we have enough. This time of year is a Chef's dream, because it's a challenge to bring something fresh and new, without shocking people. When you think of Thanksgiving, you think of the traditional meal, and we could still do that, but put a little twist on it. Since I work so late tomorrow night, I won't be able to go all out like I want, but maybe I will on Christmas or New Years. I know some of you will be traveling today or tomorrow, I pray for your safe journey, and that you enjoy this precious time with your friends and family. Have a wonderful day, and be blessed!

Today's scriptures are about our position in the Kingdom of God. Jesus is the tie that binds believers as family. Some of us get caught up in the earthly meaning of family, when we're all brothers and sisters in Christ. We have favor through the blood of the Lamb, and God exalts us when we do His will. As earthly parents, we have an obligation to provide for, and take care of our children. They didn't ask to be born, they are sent to us by God and it's our duty raise them to be loving, caring, and respectful adults. Good parents take interest in their children’s lives, and lead by example. They work and toil ensure their child have everything they need, and have great relationships with them staying open to communication. As a parent, you're forced to make tough decisions for your the sake of your child(ren). There are some things we take joy in, and others we regret doing, but have to be done. It's written: Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6) We have to be multifaceted to our kids; we have to be parent, friend, teacher, lawyer, doctor, therapist, and preacher. We're their lifelines, and without our guidance they wouldn't know which ways to go in life. Stop and think about this for a moment, if God is our Heavenly Father, and has designed earthly parents to be this way, then how much greater is He to us? He has given His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, so we could have life. Jesus died and was resurrected, and now sits on a throne at the right hand of God. Jesus is our lifeline, and just as blood bonds parents to their children, Jesus' blood bonds us to God. He calls us brother and sister, and most importantly He calls us friends. When it comes to working in the Kingdom of God, there are no persons more important than the other. He bleed the same blood everyone, no matter what your status is in life. God loves all of us, but call those of us who keeps His commandments friends. It's written: “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments..." (Deuteronomy 7:9) Jesus said: And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31) Really, how hard is it to keep these commandments? Keep in mind that love is an action, it's not a warm fuzzy feeling, or pleasant thoughts, but it's something that is shown through our actions. Jesus showed His love for us, through His death on the cross. God shows His love for us daily, with our many wonderful blessings. So how do you show your love to Him? Think about children, and how they give back to us. It's not by gifts or works but by their total dependence on, love and respect for us. It's about their gratitude, and the way their faces lights up when they see us. It's the little things that show that we care. Jesus is our brother, and it's only because of Him that we have a strong, unbreakable relationship with God. He appreciates when we share His teachings, acknowledge His presence, and Praise Him every day of our life. In the Kingdom, we're children of God, and brethren to Jesus Christ, and that's a privilege that is open to all, but held by few. The only step that needs to be taken to enter the kingdom of God is to acknowledge that Jesus is the Christ, confess and repent for your sins, and ask Him to come into your heart. The love is God is something that's ever present, yet seldom reciprocated, and there's only one way to change that. My favorite verses today are: If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. Whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected; hereby know we that we are in him. (1 John 1:6, 2:5)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY MONDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying the beginning of another workweek. I’m doing great, because this will be a short week for most of us, as we celebrate Thanksgiving. This is a time of family, fun, and fellowship, and I'm surely looking forward to it. How's your "thankful" list coming along? Last week I challenged you to start making a list of the things you're most grateful for. We're supposed to write at least 2 a night, so I have about 16 items on my list so far, some days I write more than others. This is a very enlightening exercise, because it helps me stay focused. Sometimes it takes writing something down to truly grasp it. If you have a family who traditionally sit around the dinner table on Thanksgiving and tell what you're most thankful for, then you can bring your list, and read your top few. I'm looking forward to the four-day weekend; I think I may add that one to my list as well. I'm looking forward to one full day of rest. I don't want to leave the house, work on anything, but simply relax and watch movies. Until then, I'll stay on my regular grind, and I'm thankful for that as well. I pray you enjoy the rest of your day. Be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about dwelling in the Lord. It doesn't take much to trust the Lord with all of your heart and soul, but it maybe one of the hardest things we'll ever do. Although God has given us every reason to trust Him, we still don't. Despite all of the times God has come through when I needed Him, I still worry and have fears and anxieties, or forget to go to Him for all things. However, everyday my trust is gets stronger. Worry, fear, and anxiety are the direct opposite of trusting God. Dwelling in Him is the only way to build trust, and keep the ultimate commandment to "Love God with all of your heart". Dwell is defined: a) to live or stay as a permanent resident; reside. b) to live or continue in a given condition or state. God wants us to live in Him forever, without wavering, and with our every being. It's written: One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. (Psalms 27:4) The Psalmist David knew what it was to dwell in the Lord, because He followed God's will for His life, and sought Him with every part of himself. He was living proof that you don't have to be perfect to dwell in the Lord. David made plenty of mistakes, but he never lost Faith in God. God was so pleased with David that He promised to make his son ruler of Israel after he passed away. David's son Solomon was one of the most wise, powerful, and wealthy men who reigned over Israel. As Solomon got older, God became displeased with him, because was mixed up with the wrong people, and ended up worshipping false gods. God said: “[Solomon] have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David. However I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand, because I have made him ruler all the days of his life for the sake of My servant David, whom I chose because he kept My commandments and My statutes." (1 King 11:33-34) We can learn a lot from both David and Solomon, because they both sinned against the Lord, however, through them we see the affects of staying with God no matter what, opposed to following the world's ways. When we dwell in God we secure our safety, wisdom, growth, and build trust in God, and in ourselves. If we don't live our life in God, then we’ll never be able to live on purpose. God spoke that phrase into my Spirit last week, and I believe dwelling in the Lord is the same as living life on purpose. A lot of us fall into the monotony of life and miss the fact that we're here for a purpose. When we get stuck in a rut, or a tedious routine that isn't making a difference for the Kingdom of God, then we're not living on "purpose". Everyday we're to dwell in the Lord, ask Him what we could do for Him, and follow His commands. Seek His wisdom, and through that wisdom, He'll show us our purpose in life. Then we live on purpose, without fear, or limits, because God is sovereign. He cannot tell a lie, and has proven Himself in your life over and over again. Do not be afraid to dwell in Him, because He's real, and He never changes. The only thing that God requires of you, so can dwell in Him is that you’re covered in the blood of Jesus, which in turn makes you righteous. Righteousness through Jesus Christ is a free gift, and accepting that gift, is the first step to living on purpose. Trusting God with all of your heart, always and forever, is all you need to do to dwell in Him and He in you. My favorite verse today is: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalms 91:1)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying the end of another workweek. I'm doing well, a little tired, but in good Spirits. I'm looking forward to another beautiful weekend. I have a lot of cooking and cleaning to do, to get ready for the holiday week. I'm not sure what I'll do next week, but I'm looking forward to having four straight days off. I love this time of the year, because it's all about food and family, my two most favorite things. However, this is also the most stressful time to the year for some. Especially during this recession, because a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet. I always stress how important it is to pray for our nation right now. There are some very, very disturbing things going on in our world, and during this time, people resort to some wicked things for survival or out of greed. Be careful, and know that God will grant your every need, and prayer works, I'm a living witness. I am praying for all of you, and please pray for me. Have a wonderful weekend, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about Jesus being with us in dark times. Dark times are inevitable, we all will face them at one time or another, and God will be there for us every step of the way. There is a famous painting called "footsteps in the sand", which depicts a man walking down the beach on wet sand, and there's second set of footsteps right next to him. That painting has a lot of meaning, because it symbolizes God's presence in our life. During trials, we’re often overcome with stress, grief, anger, and/or sadness, and those emotions can become debilitating. If we don't pray without ceasing, they will overcome us and cause us to fall into depression. In the past, when I became sad or upset my first response was to call one of my friends and "vent", and in most cases we would go out and get at "drink", to hopes of masking the pain. When I got angry, I would fly off the handle and yell and scream, and act totally irrational. The problem with these types of emotional responses is they aren’t pleasing to God. When we live our lives based on circumstance, it's impossible to please God. Jesus gives us peace, and when we call on God, in His Name, He will resurrect, or change any situation we face. God is always with us, He never sleeps nor slumbers, and He doesn't take breaks or day off. However, there are times when He steps back, and allow us to endure certain hardships to teach us lessons. This reminds me of the story of Lazarus in John 11. Jesus heard that His good friend Lazarus was sick, and He was asked to come and heal him. He and His disciples started their journey to Judea two days later. This journey was strange for His disciples because people were trying to kill Jesus in Judea. Jesus said to them in verses 9-10: “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” Jesus had the light inside of Him, He knew that God was going to light His path, so there was no need to be afraid. He knew He had a job to do, and He wasn't going to let death threats stop Him. He told His disciples that Lazarus "sleeps", but they had no idea what He meant by it. Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him.” (vs. 14-15) He was going no matter what, to perform His greatest miracle of all times, in order to quiet the doubts of even His disciples. When they arrived, Martha was upset, because Lazarus had already been buried for four days. Now Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” (vs. 20-22) Although Martha was upset she never doubted Jesus. Jesus said to her , “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” (vs. 25-26) This same Christ, who while in the flesh was able to resurrect someone from the dead, lives in us. We have His protection, coverage, and strength. We're to abide in Him as He abides in us, and live life on purpose. I know sometimes the things God tell us to do may seem strange, but we must follow with full assurance that He'll be with us every step. As long as Jesus lives in us our Spirit will never die. No matter what we face in this life, Jesus will bring light to our situations, and He'll resurrect some seemingly "dead" situations, and stimulate stagnant ones. All we need to do is walk with Him, because He's already with us. Sin will darken our path, but repentance will revive that light, so we can clearly see the way in which we should go. Without Jesus all of this is impossible. Pray and ask Him to come in your life, and the same Jesus who resurrected Lazarus will do the same for you. He'll never leave nor forsake us! My favorite verse today is: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (Psalms 23:4)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY THURSDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying another beautiful Friday eve. I'm doing well, enjoying the warmer weather. I'm grateful that it's almost the end of November, and we've yet to experience any majorly cold weather. Today it was in the mid 60's, which is awesome. I pray our winter is just as mild. It was a very busy day at work, so I guess people are trying to get us much done as possible, before they get a few days off next week. It's great because the day went by faster, but not so great, because my job can be mentally stressful. It takes more energy to solve a technical issue, when dealing with someone who is less than "technically savvy", over the phone. Needless to say it could be a headache, however, my job is very cool and laid back, my co-workers are like family, and we have a small close-knit group, it's very refreshing. I had a wonderful time at the dedication concert at Gonzaga; those are some talented young men. It made me wanted to pick up my instrument again. I need to acquire more classical music, it’s very soothing. Have a wonderful evening, and be blessed family!

Today’s scriptures are about being aware of “fake people”. This may not be a term that a lot of you are used to, but where I come from, we call people who try to be something they aren’t fake. God teaches us how to recognize those people by their fruit. If you’re anything like me, you like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I’m a very optimistic person, and I believe in forgiveness and second chances, because where would I be if God hadn’t done the same for me. However, people are who they are, and we should take them in that way. People do change, but to protect yourself from being hurt, or lead astray, you must be very careful about the ones you allow to get close to you. Have you ever heard the saying, “If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it’s a duck”? We often perceive the “ducks” in our life as turkeys, because that’s what we want them to be. The harsh reality is, if you know someone who’s a professional manipulator, liar, and thief, then that’s who they are, and you must be leery of that person, because you’ll most likely become their victim. The Holy Spirit will always warn us about people who are filled with evil, and you’ll know them by the feeling you get when they’re around. This is different from passing judgment on someone, but it’s more observing them, and taking heed to that gut feeling. Jesus said: “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves”. (Matthew 10:16) How do we balance the two? We must listen to our Holy Spirit. We must also put on the armor of God. Wisdom and meekness are only acquired when sought. It’s written: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8) The enemy will use who and what he could to tempt us, so we must pay attention to details and signs. When we meet new people, we’ll get either an affirmation or reservation about them. We call them “vibes”, and I’ve gotten really good vibes from people, and some really bad ones. There are many factors which determine when and how we’ll heed the Holy Spirit’s warnings, and the biggest is the flesh. Humans are obsessed with vanity. It’s a known fact that good looking people are more likely to be forgiven, or pardoned, for their wrong doing. We must be able to look past the outer appearance, and charm of a person, and really allow our Spirit to lead. As we grow in our Faith walk, our decrement becomes stronger, and we’ll immediately know most of the bad people that cross are path. At times we’ll work on the world’s views, or fall into the “hero” complex, and allow these people into our lives. Its okay to show compassion, sympathy and empathy, and it’s necessary to pray for those who touch the soft spots of our heart, but it’s more important to step back and allow God to work. Because you’re a child of God, He won’t allow just anyone into your life to do you harm. However you could, it’s always your choice to make. Watch for the warning signs, and be strong enough to tell yourself “I am not God, and I cannot change this person”. In most cases, that’s a very difficult thing to do, but it’s always necessary. I challenge you to dig deep and clean house. Is there a person in your life that’s draining your energy? Do you feel a dark presence when they’re around? When you think of them do you sigh? If this is true about anyone in your life, then you need to separate yourself and pray for them. God is the only one you have to please. It’s so hard to stay on the straight and narrow path, and some people in our life make it even harder. Recognize them for who they are, and make the right decision for you. Jesus is the only permanent, necessary fixture in your life. If you don’t know Him, get to know Him today. If you need someone to pray with, please let me know. My favorite verse today is: Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. (1 John 3:7)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying another hump day. I'm doing well, and am in good Spirits, because God is good. I had one of those mornings where I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I had to completely get back in the bed, say a prayer, and get back up on the right side. Have you ever had to do that? I felt so much better after I cast my cares upon the Lord, so I am testifying that it works. I know that may sound crazy, but we often don't think like that. I've heard some people say they're usually in a bad mood in the morning, until they have coffee or eat breakfast. Although we should start our day with prayer, it's not always common. I'm not a morning person, and I don't think I'll ever be, so I'm definitely glad I've finally taken heed to this revelation. This got me thinking, and I want to challenge all of you, for the remainder of the month keep a piece of paper next to your bed, and before you go to sleep, write at least two (2) things that you're thankful for. On December 1st go over that list, and tell me how it makes you feel. This may shape your attitude to better appreciate your blessings, and give back to those in need this holiday season. I'm going to do it,starting tonight! Have a wonderful day, and be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about our God given strength to endure life's temptations. Once we're saved, we receive an overall protection from the Lord. Have you ever seen commercials for Travelers Insurance Company? In these commercials this guy walks around with this giant red umbrella, and he uses it in different ways to protect his “clients”. There were times he used it as a parachute, boat, shade from the sun, and protection from storms. These commercials always remind me of God's protection of us. We're covered by the blood of Jesus, and given God's full protection, to help us overcome all struggles in life. God created us and He knows our strengths and weaknesses. As we enter into this covenant with Jesus, we're to start off as babes in the Spirit. It's written: Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. (1 Peter 2:1-3) We're to earnestly submit to the Lord for His protection, and to purposely lay down our bad habits and ways of life. As we grow, He'll pardon some of our sins, because we're still learning His ways. He won't allow us to be tempted and tried past what we could endure. In everything there are repercussions, but when God has a job for you to complete, you will complete it. The enemy will do his best to cause you to sin. He’ll be there every step of the way, with temptations that are hard for the flesh to resist. In those times, we must pray and look to our Holy Spirit for guidance. We must immediately separate ourselves from situations that may cause us to be weak. Repentance is all that’s required for God to step in and rescue us. The bible teaches that God will always and forever love us unconditionally, but it also teaches common sense, and self accountability, just as we learned from the ladder verse, which clearly says "Lay aside..." There are times when we sin, and honestly don't know any better. In these situations, when we go to God and repent, He'll overlook it. At the same time, if we're doing the same things over and over again with no intentions on changing, He’ll allow us to be tempted to a breaking point. Nevertheless, He’ll help us rebuild when we come to Him. Wisdom is precious, there's as beneficial as real life lessons, and maturity, that could only be learned by trials and tribulations. God allows us to suffer to build character and humbleness. He needs us to have a contrite heart, before He could shape and mold us into the person we're meant to be. We're meant to be leaders; Kings and Queens of this land. We're meant to stand above all things, and achieve great righteousness. There's nothing God wants more, than for us to live to our fullest potential, but we cannot do that when we don't allow Him to lead. Jesus prayed for our strength and endurance, and God gives Him whatever He asks. Rejoice in knowing that God is your strength when you feel like you can't go on. Rejoice in the fact that tests and trials were designed to teach us how to endure. Rejoice in the fact that God has our back no matter what, and we're always being blessed, even when it seems like we aren't. Don't forget to trust Jesus with your life, and God will be there to supply your every need. If you don't know Jesus, then get to know Him today. My favorite verse today is: Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not. (Luke 22:31:32)

Daily Devotional Day & Night

HAPPY TUESDAY!

I pray all is well with everyone, and you're enjoying this terrific Tuesday. I'm doing well, looking forward to an awesome weekend, and it's still early in the week. It's coming close to Thanksgiving, which is a little over one week away. Can you believe it? We're having a big Thanksgiving dinner at my church, and I'm looking forward to food and fellowship. Most importantly, I get to have some fried turkey, and I've only had it once before. Please know that I'll be in the gym really heavy this week, and next week to get prepared. Turkey, Honey Baked Ham, Turducken, all types of sides, and cranberry sauce, yummy! I love food, so I guess that's why I'm a Chef. It seems I'm always rushing against time lately. Please pray for my catering company to get off of the ground; because I feel like I'm losing it, my dishes are hit or miss now, because I don't practice enough. Hopefully I get to redeem myself this Thanksgiving season, I'll try some new dishes and post the recipes for you. Are you ready for the holidays? I'm very excited! Please make sure that you don't miss the meaning of this very special holiday, it's not really all about the turkey. Take sometime and think about what you're most thankful for, and make sure you tell God all about it. Have a wonderful day, be blessed family!

Today's scriptures are about understanding the Wisdom of God. How powerful do you think we would be if we fully understood all of the thoughts of God? I don't know how many times I've cried out, "God why me?" I'm sure all of us have experienced that at one time or another, and in some cases God will reveal the reasons behind the storms, and in other cases we'll never know until we reach Heaven. I often say that God is above anything on this earth, and there is no greater god than He. We don't have the ability to understand the enormity of God, and it's only by His Spirit that we’ll ever be able to receive His allotted wisdom. It's almost like an epiphany when He reveals the truth and light to us. Have you ever been studying a subject in school that you just couldn't grasp, then one day, after studying and tutoring, you finally get it? We have those moments with God more often then not. Times when it seems like He’s not listening, or we’re missing that connection, then all of a sudden He shows up with this strong force that confirms His love for us. It's not until we seek His knowledge will we be able to dig deeper into who He is. Jesus taught in ways that forced us to use wisdom and our Holy Spirit to understand God’s will. He taught in Parables, and it's written: And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. (Matthew 13:10-13) What does Jesus mean by all of this? If you look at it in the eyes of the world, it'll make your head spin. However, if you look at it through the Holy Spirit, you'll know exactly what it means. God reveals things to each of us differently, so it may be saying one thing to you, but something totally different to me. I believe that Jesus spoke to us in parables to force us to get in tuned with our Spirit. He wanted us to dig deeper, and seek the knowledge from our heart, and not our head. The knowledge will only come to those who are worthy of receiving, and you'll know by your fruits. When you get some time, continue reading the remainder of chapter 13. Although it may be said that you will never know everything that God knows you still have to constantly seek the answers. God will grant wisdom to whoever asks. As part of our ultimate commandment, "Love the Lord God with all of your heart", we must take the time get to know Him. However, you cannot communicate with God under the burden of sin. The only way to be separated from sin is through Jesus Christ, who in turn anoints you with His Holy Spirit. God is Spirit and we are flesh, so we must communicate through the Holy Spirit. Jesus said this to Peter before He was crucified: I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. (John 16:12-15) If you don’t understand, then stop what you're doing and say a prayer, first asking Jesus to be your Savior, then asking the Holy Spirit to grant you the wisdom to understand, and stay focused with a pure heart. My favorite verse today is: We ... do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. (Colossians 1:9)
